Really puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

Walking across the Bean's parking lot late Saturday night I saw a man wearing a t-shirt that said, "I work hard because millions on welfare depend on me." I'm assuming that he is a McCain voter.

If he's opposed to welfare, why would he vote for a man who has been in the senate for decades and has never introduced legislation to reduce it? Ohhh.. I get it, because that T shirt is dumb, and you expect dumb people to vote for McCain.

Well, it's an over simplification, but Ok.

Too much farking perspective.

back then the local rivers were so polluted from the still functioning paper mills, that, as someone said, their water could strip the paint off of a house. Now most of them are clean enough for water sports and swimming.

God damned enviro-whackos, forcing their "Clean water" on good, patriotic Americans who wanted to use a river as paint thinner.

I hope he isn't hired to make McCain an 18-foot tall campaign logo....

I wouldn't worry about it...Boston's not a big college town.

One day McCain will just disappear in a flash of green.
/its a stretch, but it applies damnit

So what they're trying to say is that McCain would be fine, so long as his opponent wasn't, you know, charismatic or popular. Thank goodness that isn't the case.

Q: Why don't you just make ten just that much higher?
A: Because these ones go to eleven.

I do not, for one, think that the problem is that the campaign's popularity is down. I think that the problem MAY be, that there is a national campaign for the presidency that is in danger of being CRUSHED by a DWARF.

I'd just like to point out that there is no Parent's weekend for the state of Maine. The author has the influx of visitors and high occupancy rates confused with something called we call "summer" up here.

I would have corrected that to "no" or "not any" to mock his grammar, but sure, if you want to give the correct answer...

The article raises the question, "What day did the Lord create the NRO, and couldn't He have rested on that day too?"

2008-07-28 05:02:22 PM
That was the dumbest thing I have read all day (and I have read several of skookum's posts today)

Did this article have a point? Rich assholes send their little spoiled assholes to elite summer camps in Maine and then marvel that the local yokels that look after their precious snowflakes more often than not don't agree with the rich asshole's politics (what a douchey way to brag about your Bentley---ASS!)

someonelse: The article raises the question, "What day did the Lord create the NRO, and couldn't He have rested on that day too?"

Well, that's-- that's nitpicking, isn't it?

2008-07-28 05:04:44 PM
Er... selective appeal is good, if you're Tom Waits. A candidate for national office, not so much.

2008-07-28 05:05:03 PM
I was forced to conclude that McCain voters are not the sort of people who need to impose their politics on others while driving on the nation's highways.

MEGA FAIL!!!

My "hippy" NorCal county (strongly Republican for decades, now pretty much tied in registration) was ASS-loaded with Bush/Cheney bumper stickers from 2000-2006. Now, one very rarely sees a Bush sticker or a ribbon, but still no Obama stickers.

In other words, here, and in many parts of the northern CA region, what you have is people actively removing any sign of support Bush or the GOP, pretty much because they know they fkt up in supporting the guy.

And they are not excited about any Republican candidate or position. They haven't exactly turned blue, they appear to just be sitting this one out.

But you keep rationalizing with your pseudo-neo-semi-quasi-armchair sociology, toots.

2008-07-28 05:05:16 PM
From TFA: In four days, I saw a fair number of Obama bumper stickers - frequently surrounded by several other left wing exhortations, like "US out of Iraq" or "Crucify Bush" (kidding) or "I hated Bush before it was popular," (when was that?).

I like how she put the "kidding" there. That show's she's clever and fun and has a sense of humor.

And the "when was that?" line was classic! Indeed, like there could really be a metric that could represent the relative popularity of something. Dream on, nattering naybobs!

/Does 28% ring a bell?

1) New England, save for the isolated holdouts in NH, has gone bluestate. Flinty Yankees have ben priced out or have gone to the great hearafter- especially in Vermont.

2) Most McCain voters will be holding their noses when they pull the lever. IMO, he's too much a creature of the Senate and the conventional K street wisdom. He is just now realizing the MSM's love for him was contingent on his being a 'maverick.'

3) I'd not be surprised that your average McCain voter is not going to put up a bumpersticker because he or she doesn't want the car keyed by those luverly Obamanick idealists.

I had to read that piece of crap four times before determining that it was not, in fact, some boring weirdo blogging about their kayaking vacation in Maine.

Too bad we have that Electoral College thing isn't it? In the numbers that matter, McCain is getting spanked.

Yeah. I wouldn't worry about it though, it's not a big college town election.

It didn't look like anything of the sort to me. But I don't know when the picture was taken. They could be "early arrivals" just catchin' a wink or two before an event scheduled a few hours later.
