So... this is a follow-up to the team saying he didn't have one, and that the tampering allegations had nothing to do with a team issued cell phone?

Can you hear me now?

But he admitted to all the conversations that make up the tampering case. So does the NFL now not need the phone records to bust the Vikings?

/he'll end up playing for Minnesota anyway
//just not til after Week 1, MIN @ GB, Monday night

Dear Brett Favre:

Go Away.

Thank you.

So Favre still tampered by calling the Vikings, right?

Suspend him for a year.

But he looked like he was having fun on the can, just letting it hang out like only a kid can. Only Farve can do that.

exactly. how is this old news a follow-up? Packers need to trade Favre with Ryan Grant to Tampa Bay for a 1st round draft pick, Chris Simms, and Cadillac Williams OR a 1st round pick, 3rd round pick, and an average db/rb.

Name one ex-franchise QB who switched teams late in his career and accomplished anything. You can't. Montana? Moon? Cunningham?

Can somebody tell me why it matters if the cell phone was team-issued or not? If they're tampering, they're tampering, and it is completely irrelevant whose phone he was on.

Cunningham took the 1998 Vikings to the Conference finals and SHOULD have been in the SB that year (15-1 reg season).

/Vikings will be in the SB this year.

Montana took the 1993 Chiefs to the AFC Championship game.

I guess it all depends on what "accomplished anything" means. In addition to what Montana and Cunningham did, I would add that Moon had a Pro Bowl season in Seattle.

Does any of this mean that switching teams is detrimental to a career, in and of itself? No, I think it means that, usually, when a player is truly great, his original team holds onto him for as long as possible, then lets him go when it's time to rebuild -- that is, the point at which he's not as great as he once was. Not just with quarterbacks, but with other positions as well (Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, etc.). Journeyman superstars like Deion Sanders are, I believe, the exception.

Is Favre in that position? Not necessarily. Granted, nobody is harder to prognosticate; he looked washed up before 2007, then suddenly became a Pro Bowler. If Washed Up Brett resurfaces with another team, then sure, he's likely to follow the path of not accomplishing anything. If Pro Bowl Brett resurfaces, then he can do a lot. But here's the point: none of this is a function of simply switching teams.
