LOL!! It's so true.

Are you f*cking stupid? That hasn't been true since at least the mid-'80s. Jebus, read a goddamn book once in a while.

Oh shut the f*ck up, Heamer! It says "sibkoom sibpab txhawbzog ua kev nco txog 4 tug tau tag simneej lawm" right there in the article for Christ's sake!

Read the penultimate sentence, you taint-licking dicksneeze: Txawm khwv npaum ntawv los, tsua tau $3 tauj ib hnub twg xwb.

Maybe you should enroll in a reading comprehension class at a local community college. They take blathering retards, right?

You're both idiots. " Lawm tus tsav lumfai los tsoo, nws lub npe hu ua Eric Malmgren, hnubnyoog 60 xyoo, nyob nroog Shoreview, xeev Minnesota, nws raug xa mus rau lub hoo-maum nyob nroog Minneapolis."

Not in Farking Winsconsin, obviously.

Chill the fark out, man. This is the internet, not a debate some top tier university. In my defense, I found it a little difficult to get the author's tone. "nws raug xa mus rau lub hoo-maum nyob nroog" can be interpreted a number of ways.

Men are talking here. Why don't you two go to an Obama thread or something.

Alright, we get the point. You guys are well hmong.

/I know, I know, it's Fark. One needs to expect constant repeats like this.

Skettios: They don't have a written language, and my thai girlfriend can't make out any of this, so I'm guessing very few people could actually read this.

They do now, it's all over the internet!

Go to youtube and put in "Hmong music" you can find all sorts of videos, including karaoke where you can see the lyrics go by.

It's interesting though - the written form is rather new, and was made with the aid of people with basic English typewriters in the perfect time where people wanted to be able to TYPE everything but there wasn't really yet any good computer support and language input systems like we have now.

So, funny alphabets were right out, and lots of diacritics like Vietnamese has were similarly not favored. What they did was take all the letters not used for sounds in the language, and use them to represent tones. So the b, x, v etc on the ends of words are the tone marks.

I had no idea the Wausau paper had a Hmoob edition but... I like that sort of thing.

Me, I only know how to say "hello" but I think it sounds really cool.

Because its an excuse to have a Hmong thread on Fark?

Seriously, these stories are about as local as Fark can get for me. All the other states get most of the cool stories.

/Yes, I'm jealous, and have been for years. Why do you ask?

Somebody call the police! This poor man is being held at gunpoint and forced to read every single article on Fark's mainpage! Oh, the humanity! Who would do such a cruel thing?! Robbing a man of his ability to choose which articles he reads of his own volition! Surely someone can put a stop to this madness!

SOMEBODY--ANYBODY--HELP THIS MAN!!!

I had to search it out to get the blank.

There's a pretty large Hmong population in southern Wisconsin as well. Madison, at least, I know. I remember in high school every now and then people would read the pledge in Hmong, and the kids gave a few... well, seminars or lectures, I suppose, about their history and the language. Was really interesting.
