Theaetetus: Hey, 'poon?

Pepperdine's School of Law fell 10 places in U.S. News and World Report's rankings for accredited law schools nationwide, but School of Law officials are attributing losing ground to a change in the report's methods for evaluation.

Pepperdine School of Law is now ranked 87th overall, down from 77th last year.

The school was ranked against 180 other accredited law schools. Accreditation is earned through the American Bar Association.

87th out of 180. I mean, sure, it ain't nothing to sneeze at, but it's not something you should be holding up as incredible academic achievement, far in excess of what any other Farker on here has achieved.

you overestimate the achievements of farkers.

Surpheon: deeoh1:
/Remember folks... he has virtually NO experience. He spent 142 days in the Senate before he went into full campaign mode.

Always easy to identify the idiots by this talking point. Yeah, all those years in the Illinois senate doing some good work in relative obscurity don't count somehow. The law requiring videotaping of interrogations and confessions in serious crimes was textbook good law writing and consensus building. Obama certainly isn't perfect - he does bipartisan work, which means standing close to the middle (fine by me, pissing off Moveon.org is a feature not a bug).

But it's dangerous to count the Republicans out. Everyone likes to point out how the Democratic candidate is always ahead in the polls early and then falls at the end. Know why? Negative campaigning and outright lying works - but only if it hits at the last minute, before even the rubes realize you're lying. Nice to see McCain is desperate enough to trot out the lies early enough to call him on them. And deeoh1 gets added to the same "blatant liar" list for his stupid post above.

So I'll just fall back to my position that he's a farking moron then. OK?

Windfall profits tax? On who? Just those evil oil companies? What about those industries with higher profit margins, like big pharma?

Income tax increases and capital gains tax increases? History has shown that these lead to less government revenue. If this happens, how can he pay for his beloved nationalized healthcare? Oh, and there's that little idea... just ask a Canadian how well that works.

Or what about everyone that voted for him in the primaries because of his position on the war that he has now abandoned? Are they still blindingly supporting him?

hard2bnice: There are viable 3rd parties but Americans are so lost in the 2 main parties that they refuse to see what they are doing to our country.

I don't consider a party that has never won an election at the federal or state executive level, and has won elections in state legislature races only a handful of times in three and a half decades, to be "viable".

Start local and work your way up to national, dummies.

What's the point of being rich and famous if you can't use it to pick up hot chicks?

The guy's smart, I'll give him that. VALEDICTORIAN from Yale law school? That takes major brains. Shame it doesn't keep him from being bat-shiat crazy or a raging dickhead. Just goes to show that religion or other poisonous memes can destroy the critical thinking facilities of even the smartest people.

Hey you, you there with the reasoning and sensibility, your kind don't belong around here.

I just want to see the crazy farkers out of my party. I'm hoping that it will shake things up enough that they'll head off into Libertarian Land, or slink back into the background again, feeling marginalized and crabby. They've poisoned my party for a long while--since we started bringing in the Religious Right to the table, and the Neo-Cons started fellating them, we've had some very poor years where Conservative issues have been concerned.

Neo-Cons aren't Conservative. They are radicals. Pure and simple, the same way that a lot of Fascists called themselves Socialists, that doesn't mean that's what they were. Look at the rhetoric, and look at the policies, you can see that they are often the very antithesis of Conservative thought.

I'll be glad to see these bastards out the door, because I don't think the country can afford their entirely self-centered--and very much the definition of "elitist--policies any longer.

I used to be in that party too. But even if the bible-thumping science-deniers took a hike, I don't think I could ever go back. The past 8 years has made their true colors clear. Not that I'm going over to the dem side, but I can never ever take a Repub at face value again.

Surpheon: Seigneur:
Why is it Liberals think it's OK to punish people for being successful? Isn't that the whole point of the American Dream?

The rich benefit the most from the stable society so it is fair and reasonable they pay the most to sustain it. This is not some stupid idea like Communism or pure Libertarianism, this is a painfully learned fact recognized over the last couple millenia. Do you think the poor guy living in a slum gives a fark if the national infrastructure collapses further? What, he's going to bend a rim on his Lexus driving into work, or perhaps his 401k is going to drop?

There is a profound ignorance of how human societies actually work, and how they actually break, in your comment. If discrepancies in real wealth (ability to feed, clothe, and home yourself and the ones you love) become too great, the society falls. Period. Sorry if life and reality aren't fair enough for you, but they tend to take precedence over a toddler's "that's not fair - wahhh" mindset. People are not going to let their children starve because it's only fair a wall street banker gets his $80 million bonus this year.

So how much is enough? According to the IRS, last year the richest 1% paid more than 40% of the income tax burden. This was despite earning 17.5% of the income.

It is a long time off though and there is really very little difference between Republicans and Democrats.
