Heh...he singles out Adams Family pinball when there's a High Speed machine next to it. Adams Family was good but it was no High Speed...and High Speed 2 blew them both away.

/But nothing is better than the old Space Invaders pinball

If there was ever a greater reward for scaling a mountain than Super Bear Arcade, I'm certainly unaware of it.

Well said... very telling.

Sounds like they have never heard of Funspot. The largest arcade in the world. If any of you live near NH, I recommend taking a trip there. They have the largest collection of classic games too.

Shame that the link got farked. This arcade appears to be a gen-yoo-wine Video Arcade. If you have a favorite classic game, it looks like they have one running.

They have frakkin' GORF!

I grew up there. There's a reason why it's been there since 1959. It's a drug front. Everyone in big bear knew it too. Though, that didn't stop me from kicking ass on that very same Roadblasters game!

I-mockery.com's servers are apparently always farked. Over the years, I've followed every link to new content only to barely be able to browse the site, if at all. Set a reminder so you can try back in a few days. Guess what? Yep, still shiatty.

It's a great site when you can actually browse it.

So what you're saying is that I can play awesome video games AND score prime shiat from the source?

Yes to all of the above.

So are you saying I can also buy drugs there, or just that they use the arcade to launder money?

From my recollection, it was mostly used to launder money. It was possible to get someone to sell you something, but they cracked down on that pretty quick. They didn't want to get busted just because of a couple dumb kids dealing dime bags out front.

There used to be two of them back in the mid-nineties...Super Bear Arcade and....Village Arcade? I dunno...it's been a long time since they shut that one down. But somehow, Super Bear Arcade survives to this day.

Hey, I have eaten at that Jack in the Box. It has been there since at least 1984.

That Discs of Tron looks pretty damn sweet. I played the one they have at the arcade at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, and I don't think it was quite as nice as that one.

Jesus, now I feel old.

This place is just right up the road from me, and I never even knew it existed. I almost crapped myself when I saw that Discs of Tron cabinet; I only ever got to see it once before, and I couldn't get closer than seven feet or so due to the huge crowd around it. I've wanted to play it ever since.

2008-07-23 07:55:30 PM
Wow, the old X-Men game. My roommates & I used to go to the boardwalk just to play that game. Yay, Jenkinsons Arcade for being open all year round! No Bennies crowding the machines!

Super Bear has all the good ones! The only ones missing are Tempest, Moon Buggy, & the original Gauntlet.

There was no reason to play pinball after the original Bally Fireball game in 1972.

Par was like 6,000 with FIVE balls. This link says 54,000 for a free game, which was im-possible. Two games for a quarter. A good player MIGHT get 20,000.

http://www.cs.fiu.edu/~jweiss/fireball2/

Notice the flipper sized GAP between the flippers, and how the buttons around the spinner were worth a staggering 10 POINTS EACH. A lot of the time, as soon as the ball went up, it went straight down the middle and was gone.

Wotan and Odin were RARE.

Release Fire Gods? In your dreams, pilgrim.

Most of the original Fireball games died by being beaten to death. The later version was NOTHING like the original.

Oh man, they've still got Crazy Climber! I wonder if my high score is still on there!

/25 years of top score, unpossible?

Mmmm... Fireball...

Is that El Dorado way in the corner there?

That's when pinball was you, the ball and the board. No dot-matrix animations, no computerized mini-games, no overblown glitz and flash, no trying to be a video game... just luck, skill and the occasional jostle.

*weeps salty bitter tears* I miss real pinball so much!
