Saved? Where does it say that?

2002-12-07 09:21:43 PM
Farscape not saved, posters need to learn to read before submitting.

The final 11 episodes will be aired in January, then that's all folks.

Although there are rumors of a movie.

2002-12-07 09:22:31 PM
Oh, and thanks for getting my hopes up.

2002-12-07 09:56:45 PM
Poster probably got it from /. where the same thing happened.

2002-12-08 02:49:04 AM
thats because Slashdot nerds are so eager to get Boobies they dont read it, like fark people... HEH

It's called reading, look into it.

"New Episodes Coming in
January 2003"

2002-12-08 02:54:11 AM
I can't believe this headline got through, and it's not even right ! Jeebus, what headline is next, "Dewey Beats Truman " ?

2002-12-08 02:55:07 AM
Bring back MST3K damnit!

2002-12-08 02:57:02 AM
Yeah, but did they cure cancer first? Oh, wait, wrong crowd.

2002-12-08 02:57:13 AM
Submiter is a Dubmass.

2002-12-08 02:57:50 AM
Will Gary Larsen still be drawing it?

2002-12-08 03:01:38 AM
congratulations Perfor8ed.

"submiter is a dubmass" ROFL.

it's called spellcheck, look into it.

2002-12-08 03:03:32 AM
Whoever the cockknob who submitted this is, needs a good punching!
How the farkin' hell can you look at this and think that Farscape has been 'saved'?
Sure it says "New Episodes in January" (and Sci-Fi's refering to it as a new season 'cause they're assmonkeys), but people knew that long before the cancelation was announced.
farking farkers need to learn how to farkin' read. fark.

2002-12-08 03:04:41 AM
no more farscrape. waa.

2002-12-08 03:06:32 AM
Those 11 episodes are the last made before the bastards cancelled the show. Then it's "That's all, folks!" time. If you actually want to know what's up, visit http://www.savefarscape.com/.

Good, that show blew anyway

2002-12-08 03:07:52 AM
AICN posted the plot teasers for 4 of the last episodes. Two have the crew going to Earth (and not being noticed because its Halloween. Blah) which is usally the kiss of death for a sci-fi show of this type. "Battlestar Galactica" sucked donkey yams when that happened in its continuity, I rest my case.

The other two sound like the unfortunate habit Farscape had of going out on the street, finding a random junkie, and having them write a script for a rock of crack.

2002-12-08 03:11:58 AM
you know what I think would be a good idea for a movie? Scooby-Doo in Space. They would drive around in a spaceship solving mysteries, and no matter what planet or space station they go to it always ends up being the chief groundskeeper who poisoned the water supply, or broke the hyperdrive containment unit, or whatever.

Which has nothing to do with anything, as far as I can tell.

2002-12-08 03:15:37 AM
Man, if all that geeky biatching actually EVER worked for saving a show like farscape, I'd be first in line to picket for Family Guy and The Critic.

2002-12-08 03:18:05 AM
Henchman,

I am not a Trekkie, but I do seem to remember a really cool episode when Kirk and Spock were on Earth in the 20's like ganster days. Of course, for all I know that could've been the end of the show too. Hmmmm.

I do agree that the Battlestar Galactica Earth visits were lame.

2002-12-08 03:22:49 AM
I recall that the super-lame Star Trek episode Spock's Brain was made right after they "saved" it from cancellation... be glad Farscape isn't going to be further ruined like Star Trek was.

And the Enterprise Earth visit with T'Pol's grandmother visiting the 1950s was TEH SVCK.

2002-12-08 03:27:01 AM
I subscribe to the fanetabet. Mine only has 11 letters.

2002-12-08 03:35:29 AM
The only way to get MST3K back on the air is...

...violent revolution, of course.

But isn't it that way with everything?

2002-12-08 03:36:40 AM
Yes they are showing all the taped produced episones that have not aired.

No they are not taping and producing new episodes.

I do, however, love the show and hope they hire everyone back.

Love Firefly too.

2002-12-08 03:41:40 AM
I honestly think another Fark.com should be created, catering exclusively to geeks. That way I don't have to sift through all these damn Star Wars and Wheaton and Lord Of The Rings links.

I mean, c'mon, it's the internet. Don't tell me that there aren't enough Dragonball Z t-shirt wearin', no haircut takin', Twinkie smothered in hog fat eatin' fanboys out there to pull it off.

Jesus. Bring on the boobies.

2002-12-08 03:47:28 AM
I couldn't even tell you where Sci-Fi channel is on my network array, I believe somewhere up there with Spanish soap operas. No idea what Farscape is, either. Perhaps all the channel needs is a regime change, seems to solve all the worlds' problems. Just don't mess with my Adult Swim.

2002-12-08 03:52:11 AM
Sure BatManuel..

Drew could name it FarkScape - It's not SciFi, It's FarkScape..

2002-12-08 04:12:57 AM
The only good show ever on Sci-Fi was MST3K. No expense should be spared in bringing that show back to the air.

In fact, make it MST3K 24 hours a day, because everything else on that network is crap.

I'm watching it right now. They're playing "Yor, Hunter from the Future".

2002-12-08 04:23:15 AM
I hate TV.

2002-12-08 04:26:44 AM
Time Warner will have to French kiss my ass hole if they want my $100 a month again. Of course there are more attractive whores who would do that for $20. And of course once a week is plenty, you know, to take the edge off. That still only works out to $80 a month. hmmm... tough decision.
I think I'll try out the crack whore option.

2002-12-08 04:30:34 AM
eh...u figure this'll be one of the last good sci-fi series so dont b!tch. if ya keep b!tchin it'll only get worse

2002-12-08 04:36:12 AM
BatManuel: you could always get TotalFark and all the boobies links therein. Then all you'd need is some cheese to go with your whine.

2002-12-08 05:16:39 AM
The headline lets you think that the sci-fi channel viewers somehow banded together to save a series. Sad fact is, they obviously did not buy the products that were being advertised, so no series.

Simple math here:

Popularity = ratings = increased advertising dollars for network

Advertising dollars = future production budget

Future production budget < advertising dollars = cancellation

Regardless, I don't even watch or listen to commercials every, anyway. Does anyone really see one of those slick Chevy Truck commercials and say, HEY, know what, I want to stop watching this football broadcast and go out and buy a $25,000 Chevy Truck!

Jack in the Box, however, persuades me in a whole different way..

2002-12-08 05:17:53 AM
Wow, mods delete my last post. I typed a whole bunch of wrong ='s and 's... no more bacardi and coke after 1 AM for me!

Will Gary Larsen still be drawing it?

Bwahahahahahaha!

2002-12-08 06:10:12 AM
MediaPirate, Apparently you didn't read it either. Those new episodes that are coming in January are only the remaining episodes for season 4 that haven't aired yet!

THERE IS STILL NOT GOING TO BE SEASON 5!!! So in other words FARSCAPE HASN'T BEEN SAVED!!

The sets have been struck and that is all she wrote.

Begoggle: Sci-Fi used to air old Twilight Zone episodes, too, which would have been beyond awesome if they didn't successfully cram 28 minutes of commercials into a 30 minute show (or at least it seemed like that).

I miss when PBS used to put on Twilight Zone late at night completely commercial free. Ahh...

Even that new twilight zone thing they made in the 80s had some excellent stories -- like the guy who had a hole burned in his head to be an outcast from society, and the guy who thought there was nuclear war so we went into his bunker underground, but then they sealed him in there. I remember sneaking up past my bedtime many, many nights for that stuff!

2002-12-08 06:18:43 AM
Whoa -- sorry for all those massive spaces in the past post... I will never make that mistake again, ever, anywhere. Scout's honor. ... even though I was of course never a scout.

2002-12-08 06:20:49 AM
Who cares about Farscape (which I admit I've never seen). We all need to band together to save Invader Zim.

2002-12-08 07:51:22 AM
Forget Invader Zim, we all need to band together to save Dark Angel

2002-12-08 08:10:01 AM
well - if you look at the reason for the cancellation - they cite poor ratings. Well...duh! What true geek doesn't have a TiVo??? Even if they're a Nielsen family, I don't know too many people who are going to get up off the couch to press a button on the top of their set-top box every time they go to the bathroom or surf the channels during commercials. What they really need is a new ratings system...the old one sucks.

2002-12-08 08:15:12 AM
Dark Angel sucks. Farscape rocks and was the best sci-fi on TV since ST:TNG (unless you count Buffy and Angel as sci-fi).

2002-12-08 08:18:17 AM
Ahhh....... I remember the good ole days when the Sci-Fi channel actually used to broadcast Sci-Fi shows...

2002-12-08 08:22:51 AM
I wathced Farscape off and on for the first year or so. The Lizard chick was hot. Liked seeing her in a bikini.

But the show that really needs saving is Firefly. Goddamn that's a farking good show. When ever I find a show I really like though... it's the death knell.

2002-12-08 08:23:34 AM
You ever notice how all the prices seem to end in nine? Damn, that's eerie...

2002-12-08 08:43:27 AM
Farscape... not saved.

Poster of this article... dumbass.

Scifi Channel... also dumbasses, for letting a good thing go.

'Nuff said.

BatManuel , it is probably dumb of me to respond to your complaint, but christ man, you've only been here 9 short days and already you are whining about links you dislike.

I've got news for you, Fark.com was practically founded by geeks. We have all different kinds of geeks here; computer geeks, science geeks (notice all the discoveries in physics, math, and astronomy articles), sci-fi geeks like you mentioned, comic book geeks, and many more kinds of geeks that I left out.

Once you have been here for a while, you will realize Fark.com means something different for everyone. Some people come here for the political and religious flame wars, others for the sports stories, some for the sci-fi stuff, some for the people you interact with, still others for the Boobies, and the rest of us for a million different combinations of all of the above. In the time I've been on Fark, surprisingly enough, all of these groups have somehow been able to co-exist in relative peace.

The point is, you are complaining about sifting through links when the most effort you have to put in is reading one or two lines of the title and then skipping past the links you don't want to read. It's as simple as that.

Oh yeah, welcome to the Fark.com community, hopefully you will enjoy your stay more in the future.
