It's not my fault that I didn't know she was married.
It's not my fault that we continued having sex after I found out.
It's not my fault that I wasn't using a condom and she fell pregnant.
It's not my fault she wasn't on the pill either way.
It's not my fault she got fired and I and threw myself under a bus in response.
It's not my fault that she didn't consider the potential damage the relationship could've caused.
It's not my fault that the hospital didn't arrange supervision so they'd discover her lingerie all over my house.
It's not my fault the relationship lasted 2 years.
IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!!!!"

oh so he's suing them for not being able to stop him from committing those acts. Because a hospital is completely responsible for anyone who pays it a medical bill.

Had they checked on him, John says, they would have discovered her lingerie, strewn about his apartment.

What, does she write her name on her underwear or something? Does her cooter put out a specific odor that they'd be able to sniff the air & say, "Hey, that's Jane! or something? Is her underwear that identifiable? Probably not, so if they had checked on him they'd only have found unidentifiable women's lingerie. If questioned he'd probably have just chuckled & gone on with the visits, all the while keeping the affair secret.

I hate to say it, but I wonder if he's suing b/c she's stopped sleeping with him & he wants revenge.

If this had been a regular hospital the criticism being levied in here would be justified. Note, though, that it's a *MENTAL* place. That's a very different case, crossing that line is a big no-no.

The masculinity worship that we see in men in our society gets soooo farking old. Really does. Guess what? When you insist on living your life according to the arbitrary and senseless whims and caprices of others, you're only constraining your own freedom, your opportunities, and your happiness; pleasing even the staunchest of the homophobes and projecting the most masculine image you can means being fat, stupid, drunk, insensitive, cruel, bigoted, misogynist, arrogant and self-centered, irascible, largely friendless, and spending all one's time in the woods killing things and watching sports on the television while pouring cheap, piss-like beer down your gullet screaming incoherently because some athlete on the telly who has nothing to do with you and whose successes and failures in no way reflect your personal worth has failed in some capacity. The less severe and irritating apologists of masculinity will permit you to learn to play an instrument or cook (especially on the grill), but even they quickly withdraw their approval if you turn to, say, oh, dancing or drinking sweet alcoholic beverages. Are you beginning to understand my drift? The whole point of being masculine is to send a message to your fellow members of society that you have worth and strength and should be respected, but this comes at quite the cost because the rules of being masculines are extremely diverse, numerous, and draconian - the cost is your enjoyment of life and your freedom to make the most of yourself, as I said. You see all men are simultaneously holding one another hostage by refusing to respect those who come off as feminine; if every man resolved not to express contempt for those of feminine mien, then all men would suddenly gain the freedom to do what they want in life without fear of being abused or ostracized for it. If only the value that being masculine is the greatest thing that a human could be would just disappear, this world and living in it would be so much better.

And perhaps I'm just an idiot, but methinks there may be a relationship between your use of the term "man card", the fact that your fark handle contains the word "hockey" without being followed or preceded by an disparaging or pejorative words, the face you're making in the picture in your profile, and your habit of wearing socks with sandals. Maybe. Not that there's anything wrong with those last three things.

Vanetia: What was he in the hospital for to begin with? That will dictate my response to this.

From the sound of it, and I may be mistaken, he was inpatient. Meaning that he was in a lockdown rehab or a psychiatric crisis unit. He did attempt suicide because of perceived guilt.

Doesn't really matter, either way. A mental health practitioner and a mental health consumer cannot have that relationship, and it is the practitioner's vocational, legal, and moral duty to ensure that.

/I work in a rehab for teens in which staff have previously had intercourse with the residents, so I'm getting a real kick etc etc.

No! Just think about it: If this had been an ordinary man he'd be paying child support for 18 years. As it stands, he's going to make 850 grand!

This guy deserves TWO man cards. Not only did he get crazy, illegal sex, but he's also avoiding child support AND getting money out of it!

... It/he might just be crazy enough to work! Plus, he's going back to the hospital for a possible rinse/repeat.
