It bothers me that nobody realizes that Mitt Romney never did anything to earn $45 million. So who the f*ck cares if he loses $45 million?

2008-07-17 04:25:15 AM
He's planning to make it back and more

Clearly, he has made $45 million to lose. Can't fault the business skills of someone who can do that.

I don't understand how or why --according to this article-- Romney's prospects for the Vice Presidency are on the rise.

As I understood it, the far right-wing Christian/Evangelical conservatives didn't vote for him because he's a Mormon. I don't imagine McCain needs Romney for the moderate/fiscal conservatives because McCain would already be of greater appeal to them anyway... and because he's a Mormon.

I would think that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be a better choice for the Republican ticket. She's incredibly popular in her state (80+% approval rating), and she's bring youth and vitality to the ticket. It also doesn't hurt that she's a former beauty queen.

She's a pro-lifer, who actually means it; she gave birth to a child with down syndrome, as opposed to aborting it. (That's more than can be said about certain "pro-lifers" who paid for their girlfriend's abortion in college, but conveniently "found Jesus or whatever" before running for office, and decided Jesus told them abortion was bad. She'd appeal to pro-life conservatives.

She's a member of the NRA.

She's fought state corruption.

She cut over a billion bucks in pork spending from her state budget.

And she's hot. She's really hot.

/and eats moose burgers.
//oh yeah, it also doesn't hurt that's she's a woman. That might appeal to some former Hillary backers.

I saw your post and looked her up; you're right. It sounds like she would be a good one to look at as an up and comer. She's definatly excelled at all executive type jobs she's held and appears to be doing a great job in Alaska. It'd be interesting to see a Republican Woman eventually run for Pres :P

Pictures on her Bio page help too - I miss Alaska :(

The best choice, by far. She's a true conservative, and a very successful governor.

I'd rather they not expend the few individuals on deck who aren't complete sleazebags, actually. If you're looking to reform the Party after the disastrous Bush administration and martyrdom of Saint John you're going to need charismatic figures to rally behind. Having her accompany McCain to Calvary would be a tremendous waste of one the Republican Party's few genuine hopefuls.

Another Republican spending piles of money he doesn't have? Big surprise there.

Romney always struck me as a kind of "used car salesman" guy. The kind that would sell you a car without an engine and a forged carfax report.

/In fact, I'm pretty sure that was him

McCain should pick Jesse Jackson. He'll go all racial on Barack, and noone will dare say anything about it. Brilliant.

He could always demand that McCain sidetrack his presidential bid to get him out of debt, thereby ensuring his support... Or is that a democrat concept?

Why? Other than his sudden change of heart on offshore drilling, what has he done that's been bad? He's a good governor, and better than his predecessor.

I cannot understand why everyone likes Sarah Palin. She was a small-town mayor before becoming Governor of one of the more unimportant states in the Union, a position that she's held for a year and a half. Let's be honest, John McCain is no spring chicken. Is Sarah Palin the person we want to replace him? Oh, my bad, she's a MILF NRA member. Proceed.

/Romney is even worse

meanwhile, hillary clinton is still asking for donations so she can pay herself back for the loans she made to her campaign after it had become obvious that she had lost...

Why is anyone surprised that Romney lost $45M?

Look at his record in MA while he was working "part-time" as Governor: lost jobs,
companies leaving the state en masse, high-tech grads leaving the area.

But he DID manage to keep a 1913 law on the books intended to stop non-same-race marriages using it as a cudgel against out-of-state same-sex marriages! (It's in the process of being repealed, with the expectation of $700M in revenue.)

I'm surprised he hasn't packed up his place in Belmont and moved back to Michigan, or Utah, or some other state he would claim to be a resident of to look for his next hand-out position. Maybe he can attract their interest by making jokes at their expense as he did with the state he governed...

I've said it before and I will say it again. Romney on the ticket will be awesome because of it's comedic value.

"Who let the dogs out?"

Mittens will kill ANY chance McCain has with middle America. Watching him shill for McCain proves to me how much of a whore Mittens is.

Or as Mitt Romney calls it. Petty cash. Srsly 45 Mil, is nothing to a billionaire.

If only some moron whose name starts with a C and ends with a Linton would be so honorable as to eat her own campaign debts.

I get giddy every time I hear Romney mentioned as one of McCain's top considerations for VP, as that would likely eliminate any threat of McCain become president. However it's unlikely the McCain campaign is that stupid. Although Romney's bad qualities would be a disadvantage to the Republicans, it's probably best to leave him where he is. Best not to encourage Romney, or give him a nomination that would get him any closer to the presidency. *shudder*
