As much as we need a QB, please not Favre!

2008-07-17 12:04:39 AM
Which sounds better?

Favre retired a hero to Green Bay fans just past the peak of his play and heading straight to the Hall of Fame.

Or

Favre was found in train wreckage with his hand on the throttle scalded to death by the steam.

The Packers are my favorite team in any sport, and I check all the usual sites almost every day for news and updates. That said, I don't want to hear another goddamned word about Brett Favre until 5 years from now when he is wearing a gold jacket.

Also, HA! HA! Suck it Vikings fans!

Take him anyway Minn. See New England Patriots.

I have yet to find one Vikings fan who actually wants him to play here. So feel free to keep your sorry ass - flip flopping - hasn't done a god damn thing in eleven years - drug addicted - interception prone - press conference crying at - has been - washed up excuse of a quarterback that you Packer fans have been in denial about for the past five years or so as a backup.

If I wanted the Vikings to sign a one Superbowl ring having quarterback that no longer has any business in the NFL I'd have Ziggy call whatever White Castle Trent Dilfer is currently working at and offer him the job. He'd probably do just as good as Favre and spare Vikings fans all of Brett's bullshiat shenanigans. Probably throw fewer interceptions too.

Dilfer is working for ESPN now (actually a step below White Castle). He wouldn't be any good as a QB, considering he tore his Achilles playing basketball during the offseason.

Vikings fans shouldn't talk about Super Bowls.

People from Minnesota shouldn't talk about championships at all.

Well, I'm a Vikings fan, and I would welcome Brett Favre with open arms.

Of course, I also don't live in a dream world where Tavaris Jackson is the answer at QB.

I got news for you farkers: Last year at this same time you were saying the exact same crap about Jackson, and how did that turn out? I'm sorry, but he can't even make a play happen down field, even with the defense stacked 8 deep against the run. He is at the very best an ok backup QB. Don't get me wrong, I'd gladly eat my words if he turns it around, but I just don't see it.

With their defense and running game, Brett Favre would be the best thing to ever happen to the Vikings, don't forget he's the same guy who throws for 350 yards every time he plays in the Dome. Favre coming to the Vikings would have a ripple effect on the entire team, there would be a passing game, which defenses would have to actually play against, which would allow Taylor and Peterson much more room to run, and the defense wouldn't have to spend 3/4 of the game on the field.

How those Brewers doing?

I'll agree we're sadly lacking in the Superbowl department though, and Kevin McHale wasted our best shot at an NBA title for 12 years.

Vikings got a shot this year as well - it all comes down to TJ.

honestly, except for the demented throng in green bay itself, most packers fans just want aaron rodgers.

Raheem, at least when we stole our baseball team from an undeserving victim (seattle):

a) it was not one of america's most beloved (senators)
b) we had had two previously stolen from us (braves; original brewers begat the st. louis browns begat the baltimore orioles)
c) if any brewers team from 1982-1992 had played in the twinkiedome (the only stadium in america that literally sucks), you'd likely see a banner or two on the mantle

congrats on quitting smoking, not so much on the twins

Looking forward to an exciting season with Jackson, Rodgers, Grossman and Kitna lighting up the NFC Central. I'll just watch the other games. Gotta love Sunday ticket.

Seriously, send Favre to Tampa and then their 4 extra QBs would improve the NFC Central right away: Simms, Garcia, McCown... where'd Gradkowski end up?

What I would love is that the packers FINALLY cut him, and to screw over the cheese-heads as much as possible, Favre signs with the Bears.

Favre vs Bears:

2007: L, L Favre 1 TD pass, 4 INT
2006: L, W in a game where Grossman showed up drunk...Favre 1 TD, 3 INT
2005: L, L Favre 0 TD, 6 INT
2004: L, W Favre 3 TD, 2 INT

Hmmm over the last 4 seasons, 2-6 with 5 TD and 15 INT against the Bears...oh sure, they'll REALLY miss those great performances against the Bears! That sure would stick it to 'em!
