Attraction to a person or a look is not a category of thing that can be classified as "racist". Please return to your postcolonial womyn's homonormative neomarxist post-structuralist biosocialecoanthropology collective undergraduate literature class.

what about models like Tyra Banks, Tyson Beckford, and Naomi Campbell? im sure there are others, those are just the first oens i saw after googling "black models"

So now we have to ignore the fact that black people aren't exactly the most beautiful people in the world to not be considered racist?

Yeah. I mean, I find blue eyes very attractive, and I probably won't find blue eyes in Asians or Africans. Does that make me racist?

DNRTFA beyond the hook. But who do they think is buying the stuff? Obvious they want to appeal to their primary customer.

You gotta hand it to the fashion world. They have one of the longest running scams in the history of the planet and no one ever calls them on it. The money just rolls on in. Very nicely done.

Rather be with a darker skinned person than some pale, ugly Norwegian. Honestly, really pale people are just as unattractive as really dark people, so I really don't get what y'all whities are talking about.

2008-07-05 06:15:11 PM
Uh... I'm thinking this is because maybe black women are doing useful things with their lives instead of living extremely unhealthy lives for the benefit of an industry that hasn't produced anything cool since the double-breasted suit? Or at least, doing useful things with more frequency than white women.

Why this might be, I've not a clue.

//No respect for models. I do salute their makeup people, though, takes a lot of skill to make the walking dead look attractive.

The way I see it is that the fashion industry needs to sell things. To sell things, people need to want things. By choosing models with features most people around the world don't have, such as blue eyes and pale skin, they can cause more people to want to look like that and therefore buy stuff.

I'm not Norwegian, but that said, people in this part of the world are insanely attractive.

Since when has the high fashion world had any connection to reality? It seems completely incestuous and self-cannibalizing to me. Does anyone actually wear the crap they parade out on runways at these shows?

They want people with a medium skin tones, either tanned Caucasians or light skinned Africans. Same with other races. If you're too far on either extreme, you're too hard to photograph unless you're in a group of like skinned people. You also need skin albedo not too far off the clothes' albedo or they too won't show up correctly.

Ever seen the TV show Homicide? Ever seen a shot with both Yaphet Kotto and Ned Beatty in the same frame? Either Yaphet is almost totally black and you can't see his expressions, or Ned is totally washed out and you can't see his expressions. There's no exposure that works for both at the same time :P

Yeah, America is the most racist country in the world. Way worse than those countries with genocides or places like Israel/Palestine,eh?

Supply and demand isn't racist. If blue-eyed blondes happen to be what people are attracted to there isn't a damn thing you and the rest of the race baiters can or should do about it. Attractiveness generates "benefits". Get over it.
