Eh, it's been done.

2008-07-04 07:00:10 PM
Tonight, we dine in Virginia!

Pretty good analogy, imo.

Wow, until now, I didn't realize that Howard Dean was descended from John Hancock.

I only learned of the existence of this yesterday:

America video (new window)

So I can honestly say I am refreshed by this obvious, blatant parody.

Robot Chicken is very hit and miss. This is a nice "hit".

It's like 300, but set in America. That's why it's funny.

2008-07-04 07:03:10 PM
Brought to you by people unable to understand that 300 wasn't a documentary.

/still funny though

Does this work for those whose forefathers didn't die for the freedom to watch clips of tv shows on the internet?

300 has got to be the all time greatest testosterone movies, evah.

But that being said, what was #2?

RoyBatty:I was able to suspend my disbelief until the polar bear, which I am pretty sure was highly inaccurate.

No kidding. Everybody knows the US fought polar bears during the late stages of World War I, not the Revolutionary War. (pops)

I'm Speechless... I... Is it sincere? Is it somehow subtley sarcastic?

/either way I feel a little nausea.

That was awful.

People also forget that polar bears and humans existed peacefully all throughout North America until the colonists arrived with their global warming causing industries.

/you laugh now but they'll be teaching that it happened that way in our elementary schools inside of 50 years

Oh, it's sincere. That talentless asshat scraped together that song and video after 9/11 in less time than it took the towers to fall.

As the direct descendant of a soldier who crossed the Delaware river with General George Washington on December 25, 1776 I approve of this thread.

President Thomas Whitmore: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

I'm in the minority here, but I'm really over the whole 300 parody thing. Done to death. Time to move on.

I'm not gonna dig for a copyright date, but if you are accurate, that pushes the needle towards sincere. Still...

You can read an interview with the man here. (pops)

His response to people making fun of the video:

I think that when they see something this true and pure, words that mean so much, and people that are caring and giving, it is hard to believe. They think there is a gimmick to it and that there is a catch, but there is no catch it's not a gimmick - When they are all alone, they hear the truth, and they are able to embrace it, and not kid around anymore.

He's like a hobo who can't smell his own stink anymore.

It was about as good as Paul McCartney's post-9/11 anthem. It was definitely more complex.

2008-07-04 07:50:59 PM
I would honestly pay to see this movie.

/fark yeah!

The best part about that site is when he gives what appears to be his home phone number...

"or call 1-323-462-2301 and ask for Dennis Madalone so you may speak with Dennis Live!"
