Why didn't he just take a knee at the line? It was fourth down with 10 seconds left (or whatever), and the clock was stopped. He needed to run around to kill those 10 seconds off the clock, or the other team would've gotten the ball back. If the coach had told him to run out the back of the endzone, all would've been well...but I still agree, stupid coach.

Maybe it's just me, but over the years the wildest times I've had have always been with the non-cheerleader types. Anyone who plays football should realize the ball's not dead till the carrier's KNEE touches the ground. It's like the quarterback intentionally fumbled... what a jackaknapes.

This is actually a pretty common play. Had the QB kneeled in the end zone or ran out of the back of the endzone - game over, his team wins. Had he kneeled immediately after the snap on 4th down, the other team gets the ball with a few seconds on the clock and can attempt a hail mary. The poor moron just forgot to kneel or keep running backwards WITH THE BALL!!

Anyways, the reason they didn't take a knee of fourth down, is upon completion of the play, the ball would change hands, and turnovers result in the clock stopping. So they had to waste 10 seconds during that final play, and they felt the best way to do it was to run backwards... why he didn't knee on the one yard line, I'll never know.

For all you morons who are pretending to be football experts: This is a common play. The uncommon part was the quarterback not kneeling in the endzone for a safety. If he had just knelt without running backwards, the other team would have gotten in one or two more offensive plays.
