BBQ Obama is as pure as the driven snow.
How dare anyone bring up the things that
indicate he is unfit for office.

Anybody but BBQ Obama.

Magorn: DrBimka: what_now: When you question one person's service, you question every person's service.

You realize that doesn't make any sense, right?

not entirely. You can't tell me that people look at Purple Hearts with a lot less respect since the right decided to tee off on Kerry's and question how he got them (conveniently ignoring his bronze and silver stars-which was the point)

True, but the problem there wasn't the scrutiny; it was what they did with the information they found there. After Kerry's record survived the scrutiny by any rational measure, they decided to twist the facts past the breaking point in order to serve their own agenda.

I think it's entirely fair to examine McCain's military record, provided that, in the case where no impropriety is evident -- which I think is the case, despite my support for Obama -- they acknowledge it and move on.

Why should anyone care what religion he is?

Because we're currently at war with Islam.

whammer: The left loses a buttload of credibility every time it attacks the messenger because they can't attack the message.

I also think this is why they hate the very concept of credibility.

But they certainly have the whole hate thing down pat. It's a pity that they lost all that sweetness and light hypocrisy they had in the 1960s. All that is left is bitter, burning hate.

Hell of a way to live. Hell is being a Democrat.

Naturally. Ignorance is bliss. That's why Republicans seem so happy. Intelligent people are frequently less happy.

shadow9d9: What has he done in the last 8 years?

Campaign finance reform, raising awareness of global warming, opposed the tax cuts in 2001, shown real leadership.

What has Obama done in the last 8 years? give a speech?

shadow9d9: Why should anyone care what religion he is?

His lying is the issue here, not his religion.

Wow. You haven't read the book. It hasn't even been published yet, but because it pokes at your beloved Obama, it must be packed from cover to cover with nothing but shameful lies.

I haven't read the book, and it may be full of shameful lies, but preemptively declaring it to be nonsense before the content of the book is even final just shows you all to be so hopelessly in love with Obama that reality doesn't matter to you.

Good luck with that.

If it has the same source as the anti-Kerry book, I think a reasonable person would understand our concern.

If people put half as much effort into telling me why I should vote for Candidate A as they do in telling me why I shouldn't vote for Candidate B, I would be much more willing to listen. Otherwise it's just smears, innuendo and half-truths.

"McCain sold war secrets in exchange for soft treatment as a P.O.W." - IndyGemini

IndyGemini,

Might want to get your facts in order. The folks behind that attack just happen to be two of the more vocal John Kerry detractors from 2004.

The owners and operators of the website which first made the allegations against McCain are Ted Sampley and Jerry Kiley, the two behind the Vietnam Veteran's against Kerry, who have now started a new 527 PAC - Vietnam Veteran's against McCain.

Link

So, in fact, the claims about McCains service are actually originating from the "right" and are seldom, if ever, echoed amongs those who would consider themselves liberals or democrats.

Unfortunately for the Obama campaign, we don't live in Kenya, where Obama's cousin Odinga has people killed for speaking out against him.

I rarely feed trolls, or post for that matter...

MilesTeg: So let me get this straight, you can write book after book bashing Bush but God forbid someone writes a book that might bash Obama a little?

Nice double standard.

Are you referring to Scott McClellan's book? The one written by a person with a firsthand account of what transpired? I can only assume you're not likening that to a hit-job by a group of well-known partisan hatchet men...

But, yeah, the 1st amendment covers them both so the latter is certainly fair game. And we all can laugh and point at the pointy-headed mongoloids who buy it....

From what I'm seeing in print and blogs and talking with my co-workers, neighbors, friends, relatives, etc., most folks are ignoring all the slanderous crap this year anyway. McCain sold war secrets, Obama is in bed with domestic terrorists, etc., are just being placed in the bit bucket.

My personal belief is that most folks have already decided and will vote the same way in November, barring any catastrophe.

It doesn't. But for public figures, you've got to prove a whole hell of a lot to win a defamation suit. The general thinking is that stifling political speech is pretty bad, and it has to be particularly egregious. The cure is not stifling this PR firm, but an aggressive campaign exposing them for the lying sacks of shiat they are.
