(Some Guy)   Help a fellow farker put together a Christmas CD. I'm looking for something a bit different, so stay away from the standards unless it's an outstanding, obscure cover (voting enabled)   (thefab.net) divider line 337

"Closing of the Year" from the "Toys" soundtrack.

Try and get the reprise track, if you can. It's longer, but you might need to edit the last 30 seconds; they tack on a chunk of a song called "Happy Workers" by Tory Amos.

My all-time favourite Christmas song (apart from Wierd Al tunes) is "What A Wonderful World" by Joey Ramone (of the Ramones).

Another good choice is anything from The Arrogant Worms, as they made a Christmas Album. My favourite from that is "Santas Coming And He's Gonna Kick Your Ass"

I suggest "Xmas Time (Blows My Mind)" by Savoy

Here are the lyrics:

Give things best forgiven
Solve things best resolved
Why wait untill tomorrow ?

Get things best forgotten
Move things best removed
Get it done tomorrow

Christmas time
blows my mind
All the lights
Outta sight - outta sight !

Watergun for Tommy
Power tools for Ma
Everybody's waiting

What to get for Sandy
Daddy gets a tie
Everybody's happy - for a while...

Christmas time
blows my mind
All the lights
Outta sight - outta sight !

What you wanna say, what you wanna do, what you wanna get...
... at Christmas time
What you wanna say, what you wanna do, what you wanna get...
... at Christmas time
What you wanna say, what you wanna do, what you wanna get...

... at Christmas time
What you wanna say, what you wanna do, what you wanna get...

... Wow !!

at Christmas time

Give things best forgiven
Get things best forgotten
Everybody's waiting

What to get for Sandy
Daddy gets a tie
Everybody's happy - for a while...

Christmas time (blows my mind)
(Give things best forgiven, get things best forgotten)
Christmas time (blows my mind)
(Give things best forgiven, get things best forgotten )
Christmas time (blows my mind)
(Give things best forgiven, get things best forgotten )
Christmas time (blows my mind)
(Give things best forgiven, get things best forgotten)

I also recommend "Christmas in Ignace" by Arrogant Worms.

I'd have to reccomend the classic "Santa, where's me fvcking bike?!" by Roy Chubby Brown. Or Red Christmas by the Insane Clown Posse. "Holy shiat it's x-mas!" I think it's from South Park, but I'm not totally sure.

Bobbatt:
Or "Christmas in Killarney" by the Rovers, I think.

Erm, technically that would be the IRISH rovers you bastahd. How dare you defame the Irish Rovers??! This calls for an Irish Rovers Flame War I think they changed their name later to be a bit more hip around the time of "Wasn't that a Party". Bruno Gerusi would be proud.

Afghan Rovers, anyone? Anyway, Barnes and Noble have it listed as a Bing Crosby single; "...The Complete Decca Christmas Songbook, this features every holiday recording Crosby made for Decca between 1935 to 1956." And that would way predate the Rovers. Where the Uck are the Irish Rovers now anyway??!

Oh yeah - while posting earlier in the thread I forgot to throw in that Phil Spector once made a cool christmas record featuring many of his stable of performers. There are tracks from it on Spector's "Back to Mono" boxset that you might wanna check out (hrmmm..I think they throw in his entire Christmas CD..) - it depends on your taste. It's nice to add texture to the mix.

I always have been fond of Bing C's have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Although a standard, watch the WWII movie, The Victors. That movie plays the song while the US Army rounds up men to witness an execution. Puts the song into perspective.
