I think instead of reacting so horribly to the mention of the word "terrorist" we should instead imagine boobies. "I'm taking you to the Taliban" really means "I'm taking you to boobies." See, everyone would be a goddam lot less panicked if they thought they were gonna see boobies. "I'm gonna crash into the WTC" becomes "I'm gonna crash into boobies." No one minds boobies. Hell not even conservative types, they just dont want to share boobies, but they still like them. If you guys saw the National Geographic quiz on one of the other threads, you'd see that Americans came last out of about 8 other developed countries when it came to knowing where some nations are on the world map. One of these countries U.S. citizens found hard to place was, indeed, Afghanistan. Maybe the passengers confused Afghanistan with Canada or Mexico?

I drive a school bus part-time; and I can tell you there are times when I wish that the passenger seats were military ejection-style seats. Most of the time it's a good gig, but it does have it's moments.

I am appalled they even consider charging the bus driver for a comment like this, the IDIOTS who first needled the driver who was trying to do his best to find a faster route and then were DUMB enough to actually believe a comment like that should, however, be banned from Greyhound for life and be sued for the time and money their foolishness cost. Oh, and if any passengers are reading this, I got a nice bridge for sale. Prime location in eh, Afghanistan.

did i miss the driver's name in the article? i read it twice. the context of the whole thing makes me think that maybe the guy was a muslum-lookin' guy. that would make the passenger's & the cops' reaction a bit more understandable. not toally correct, but a bit more understandable.
