Why did the Road Warrior have to turn out to be such a huge racist jerk?

That headline is outrageous! OUTRAGEOUS!!! it should be "fewer" jews, not "less" jews.

A source at the time revealed: "Mel and his wife Robin clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible. There are no expectations, there is no agenda. The source later added: "Unfortunately, during the course of their research they discovered Ms. Spears may be a Jew, thus the hunt is on.

So, the fundamentalist Catholics are making their move, eh? I would have thought the Scientologists would already have had this one locked down. You snooze, you lose.

It seems to me a good part of teh crazy came out of Brittney in relation to her kids. I would think another kid, with the potential if it being taken away, would only add to her psychosis.

I know, it is so unfair for us to judge him by his statements and actions.

Its like that time I wore my Klan robe to that black church and started waving a sign around that said "Nagger Go Back to Africa" and everyone got all mad and started punching me in the face or whatever.

Its just a little innocent racism, why does everyone have to get all bent out of shape?

Even still, with him in it I would still go see it, despite his racistness. He's a racist asshat, but at least he isn't a Scientologist.

That really isn't fair though. To be a racist you would need to hate Blacks or Arabs. Judenhass is perfectly fashionable, besides they aren't really human. They are reptoids from another dimension. Just ask David Icke and Alex Jones. (and most Truthers, Gold Standard and Ron Paul voters)

So hating them is really just defending your planet.

I thought black people were raptoids and jews were Orcs from the center of the Earth.

I guess it doesnt matter as long as neither one of them can go to white heaven.

Why is it that everyone on this site rips on Christians in every thread, whether it has to do with Christians or not, but Mel Gibson makes some drunken statements about the Jews and he's worse than Hitler? His animosity towards the Jews probably comes from the fact that he had to fund his Jesus movie himself because no one in Hollywood would touch it.

Anyway, saying that the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world was more of an exaggeration than an insult.

I know a lot of devout, keyword: devout, like going to church on Wednesday night devout, Christians who feel and have the same views as Mel Gibson. Difference is, Mel Gibson is famous. Not excusing Mel Gibson, but I know a lot of Jews, Mormons, and Muslims who hold just about the same amount of hate for others as the Christians do.

You take the bad, and you take the good in this one. Helping people out in need is also a Christian act, it's also most likely their favorite recruitment act. But I guess being taught the hatred of Jews is a better place for Britney Spears than where she was before. I suppose.

Was I ripping on Christians?

No. No I wasn't. In fact, when I bother going into religion threads, I defend Christians. And Jews. And even Muslims (I attack Islam in general, as a shiatty religion, but I defend peoples right to believe in God; however they choose to do so)

The people I truly hate with a burning passion are the Pastafarian "hurr hurr you believe in a magical sky fairy hurr hurr" people. I rank them up there with the people who need to crusade to have smoking eliminated in places they don't go or those people who swear that anyone who eats meat is a murderer and rapist.

I hate extremists of all stripes and I dislike racists. Mel Gibson is a racist. End of farking story. He is also kinda batshiat crazy. See also: The Passion of the Jew, South Park episode.

As for the Passion itself, it is a retelling of Medieval Passion Plays which paints the Jews as evil murderers and all but absolves the Romans. Gee, why wouldn't those Christ-killing Jews in Hollywood fund that movie? They could have made a fortune and all Jews love money....

SnoreCriminal: Was I ripping on Christians?

I wasn't talking about you specifically, I don't even know who you are. I was just talking about the vast number of farkers who rip on Christianity. I too am guilty of making fun of some of the stories in the Bible and the idiocies of some of the fundies.

Mel Gibson didn't write the Bible, nor the gospels. He just interpreted them on film. I personally thought that Jesus simply getting the shiat beat out of him for 2 hours lacked the context that would have separated it from a Hostel or Saw torture snuff film. But I didn't see where the Jews were portrayed any worse than the Romans.

Mugato:

Let's see:

Every Jewish character who is a "bad Jew" (the High Priests etc.) are shown with twisted, grarled bodies, yellow jagged teeth, oily hair and huge noses. The "good Jews" (Mary especially) are perfect, handsome and attractive Italian movie stars.

The high priest is shown as a powerful man, feared by Roman officals and respected by the Jewish community. Historically however, the Jews while under Roman rule were not allowed to pick their own high priest, instead this was an appointed position, assigned by the Roman Government and was answerable to Rome first.

Pontious Pilate is portrayed as nice, thoughtful man... a man struggling to prevent a rebellion and who is ultimately forced to give in to the Jewish demands to kill Jesus. Again, historically and biblically, He was a dick who crucified everyone and brutally crushed all dissent in his area of control.

In the movie, Barrabas is depicted as a bloodthirsty murdering psycho which the hook-nosed hissing crowd of Jews chooses to release instead of Jesus, the man they hailed as King only days before. When in fact the gospels themselves discuss that Barabbas wasn't just a murderer, he was political prisoner who led an insurrection against Roman rule. In fact this page makes an excellent case that Barabbas and Jesus are the same person.

Sorry if that isn't quite anti-Semitic enough for you, but that was all they needed in the Dark Ages when Christians butchered Jews after watching Passion Plays that were done in the exact same way.

I met Mel at Fort Benning when he was filming "We Were Soldiers". He went out of his way to talk to soliders, very polite, and a total gentleman. (I couldn't believe how short he was, though)However, I heard that "Talk Soup" guy and Sam Neil(sp?)were total asshats.

He farked up: he was a drunk asshat, and it's a little unfair for Hollywood condemn the guy for a stupid mistake.

Hey, Hollywood has funded all kinds of movies that have pissed of Christians, The Last Temptation of Christ, and even The Davinci Code did not put Christians in a favorble light.

2008-06-12 12:15:47 PM
So the "bad guys" were portrayed as ugly and the "good guys" were put in a more positive light. That's a revelation.

I just think that the Jewish community, especially those in Hollywood, which is just about everyone, took the whole thing a little too personally. And Hollywood was pissed that the movie did as well as it did, even though I personally didn't like it.

If someone yells "Banana!" and immediately punches you in the face, and then does it over and over again, you will come to expect that someone who has just yelled "Banana!" may mean you actual harm.

Only, substitute "Christ-killers" for "banana" and substitute "killed your entire family and tried to wipe you out" for "punched you in the face."

Whiteston: he does have a difficult past which squeaks its way in from time to time.

Having a difficult past gives him life experience and empathy, and he can relate to others in a more real way along those lines.

Might be nicer if he could extend the empathy to *everyone*, but he has free will.

Mugato: So the "bad guys" were portrayed as ugly and the "good guys" were put in a more positive light. That's a revelation.

Yeah, big shocker I know. However, Imagine instead the movie was about.. say, the Rodney King riots. The white police officers are depicted as being kind and good men who are torn apart by their guilt of having to beat Rodney King. They are all perfect and handsome, especially the black officers who are played by, say, Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes.

Conversely, Rodney King is played by (can't remember his name, but the guy who played Deebo in Friday) who wears prosthetic giant lips and makeup to make his nostrils bigger. He is depicted as an ignorant drug addict who hates cops. The rioters are all shown as being black, with big lips and nostrils and constantly talk about raping white women and smoking crack.

See where this going? It isn't just that the bad guys were depicted as ugly, they were depicted as ugly and fulfilling sterotypes.

I just think that the Jewish community, especially those in Hollywood, which is just about everyone, took the whole thing a little too personally. And Hollywood was pissed that the movie did as well as it did, even though I personally didn't like it.

No, they reacted about as well to it as a group of black people would react to the hypothetical film I described above would react. Or a group of Japanese would react to a film about WW2 internment camps that depicted Japanese as stereotypical caricatures trying to destroy America.

Passion plays were designed expressly to enrage Christian audiences to stir anger against the Jews. They are roughly as close to the scripture as Indiana Jones is to accurately depicting archaeology. And Gibson used the textbook Passion Play as the basis for his movie.

It is all a ploy to stimulate the economy. The more kids she has the more people can be employed as social workers. Not to mention all the people involved in the custody battle for said children. I say it is a great plan to get us out of this recession.

Setting aside the fact that Jesus & his disciples were Jews (played by "Italians" or whoever in the Gibson movie), I don't see where Gibson's movie set out to make people think, "IMA GONNA GO KILL ME SOME JEWS NOW!"

The Gospel of John is not particularly kind towards THE JEWS, but the point was not to blame the Jews for the death of Jesus.

The Passion may be Christian snuff p0rn (Jesus suffered and died for all of our sins, let's go watch it!), and maybe I'm a simplistic Catholic myself, but I didn't exactly come away with a newfound hatred of Jews after seeing that movie.

Or, uh, I hate teh Jews, and no amount of pics of hot IDF chicks will change my mind. Yeah!

/maybe some good will come of this thread

legion_of_doo: but the point was not to blame the Jews for the death of Jesus

There was a scene (which was cut from the final version but not the version seen by reviewers) where the jews say ""His blood be upon us and our children".

Even Gibson, the anti-semite turd that he is, decided that this is too much.

I like Mel Gibson. He makes good movies. Sure hes racist, but its not like hes the only one in this world. Ive met alot worse.
