I love how Dr. Strange looks just like the mad doctor on Gilligan's Island, Dr. Boris Balinkoff.

Must have been a union rule.

I was a 9 year old kid in the 70's and I have never heard of this show. Seemingly impossible.

I did hear that the Hurley character was once written as a comedically large robot.

Jorge Garcia was only supposed to do the voice but the producers had a change of mind when they saw how comedically large he was in real life.

The whole 'dude!' and 'falling flat on the face whilst running' thing was initially for the robot to sound hip to attract the kids audience, and to show how clumsy the robot was on grassy grounds. It was a plot device that was intended to lighten the dramatic tension during numerous chase scenes the show was going to have.

The more you know.

/Jack was suppose to have a talking penguin as a sidekick, but they chose the Kate character instead at the last minute.

How come "Pops" (Does anyone know what that stands for?) looks like a cheap ripoff of Robot from Lost in Space?

If Dr. Strange was such a genius to create his Projector Ray and Gravity Ray and all the other stuff he had, why couldn't he duplicate the same computer components in Pops?

Why was her kid brother Sandy (only Sandys I can think of are Duncan and Olivia Newton John in Grease. What does that say about this Sandy?) tagging along. I've had the same question about Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four origin. (At least the movie gave a reasonable reason)

And why did Sandy feel compelled to Hop on Pops every time they needed to run away? Wouldn't it have been faster to just run and leave the robot behind? Wouldn't adding his weight to the robot just slow it down even more?

/Maybe this is why it was called Mystery Island.

Because it was the robot from LOST IN SPACE, slightly redressed
for use here.

For you young ones, Mystery Island had this kid and his dad separated and trapped on an island by a Fidel Castro wanna-be/ pirate, who drove a heap of a motorboat with a mortar on the front. The kid hooks up with two islanders, one of whom is nameg Chango. Chango only communicates in bird calls and whistles because the bad guys cut his tongue out one time while torturing him. Heavy stuff for a saturday morning show.
