Way to go, Big Bird.

C'mon, subby... we all know you know how to spell Johnson.

The Big Unit getting lots of strikeouts isn't all that notable. What is notable, however, is the enjoyable sexuality of his nickname, his real name, and that he's set 40 consecutive years' worth of records for being the ugliest redneck in existence. Also, he killed a bird with a pitch. Truly an American hero.

Not as good as the Big Syringe joke last week.

I think you misspelled his name. The correct spelling is: R-o-i-d-g-e-r C-l-e-m-e-n-s.

Is he also the career leader in birds decimated with a fastball category?

Did you see that bare-hand grab he made the other day? He STILL has lightning reflexes.

gayb: and that he's set 40 consecutive years' worth of records for being the ugliest redneck in existence who didn't play for the '93 Phillies.

Just a slight fix there.

I hope he's content retiring at second place.

To be fair, I think the all-time walks record is equally safe.

I have to admit, I am SHOCKED Tom Glavine is ahead of Randy Johnson on that list. But I guess he's pitched more innings than Randy...

Isn't that Roidger Clemens?

I went to an M's/Sox game with my dad (who's a huge white sox fan) and we got to see him K 19. Just tore through batters.

Third Day Mark: Did you see that bare-hand grab he made the other day? He STILL has lightning reflexes.

I saw it live, and let me tell you, the replays don't do it justice. I was looking for the ball to go to past 2nd base, next thing I know, he's throwing to first. Wow. Just wow. Glad he beat it, he's a helluva pitcher.

Glad the BrewCrew pulled through, though.

On the bright side, he has a much better rate of strikeouts/9 IP than anyone else.

That list is a good reminder of how strikeouts aren't everything. Hideo Nomo near the top!?!?

It did get me to read up on J.R. Richard, though. Sad story.

Sure, but tell me you wouldn't take that top 7.

I was just using it to illustrate that Randy Johnson is better than Nolan Ryan, 7 no-hitters be damned. Nolan Ryan's ERA+ is the same as Freddy Garcia and Todd Jones.

You know what's fun to look at, though? Win pct.

Randy Johnson is equal with Sandy Koufax.
Nolan Ryan is equal with Jason Marquis and Rheal Cormier.
