I have to say tehse are the most consistently boring flamewars that Fark has. The Windows fanboys don't know the first thing about other OSs, and don't want to learn, yet they still post. At least in the political threads there are a few good flamewarriors on both sides who make the effort to learn the other side's arguments and follow the news so they can carry on an actual dynamic argument.

I do like the "ever OS sucks" clip though. That was definitely back when computers were fun :) And nobody dissed you for owning a commodore or an Apple or a CoCo, they were all just great fun toys. What has happened to the world?

I have a Mac, and some windoze boxes and from FreeBSD boxes. The thing I regret the most is the latest switch ads from apple portraying their users as some of the most pathetic incompetent wretches in existance. Theyd have a hard time figuring out the complexities of a ball point pen. Why insult your existing and potential user base like that?

You know, the Switch ads kinda make me miss the days when Apple commercials basically could be reduced to the phrase "Windows/PCs SUCK!" I mean, the industry might not've thought of those as "revolutionary" as they think the Switch ads are, but they were damn funny.

Who could forget the "Toasted Intel Bunny" spot or the Snail commercial that showed up during the rollout of the G3s? I remember one commercial from around 1995-96 that had some guy trying to give a business presentation at some big conference. At the beginning, there's a problem, and he sort of offhand notes that he "just upgraded to Windows 95." The whole audience starts shouting advice at him, such as "Try editing your registry file!" and "Open up autoexec.bat!" From amid the clamour, one guy yells, "Get a Mac!"

SpaceCoyote - Contrary to popular belief, not all wintel users don't wanna learn. i actually went to a local secondhand store and bought an ex-school Mac G3 system, just to learn more about the platform, out of curiosity. i was amazed. it was faster, more logical, and easier to use than any windows OS i have crossed. don't get me wrong, i don't have anything (much) against windows, just don't knock mac OS untill you have tried it! you never know, you may just learn something...

This is a common tactic, commonly used by Apple-ites, but not exclusive to them. Change the subject (and throw in a slight or two) and claim victory! You even go so far as to throw in unnecessary words and typos to boot.

"Macs suck" or even "The switch ads suck"...

Retort: "You suck if you don't realize the ads are the most successful ever."

Who cares what os someone uses? boobies look the same on any os. It's the resolution of your MONITOR that's important you nitwits.

Donkster: You city Apple users with such tactics? Count the number of times the topic of mouse buttons is brought up. There's usually a rule about how many of a mac basher's artuments will be swatted away before he trots out the ol' reliable "mac users are dumb because they can't understand the concept of more than one mouse button."

And of course there's a perfectly good argument to that one too. Two in fact. (1) The OS is designed for 1 button, so you can get along fine without it. In fact good interface design will tell you that this can actually be better for new and even more experienced users. and (2) USB is wonderful, go pick yourself up a shiny new mouse at staples.
