A scared lobster is a delicious lobster.

Asoka: What if they demonstrate that lobsters suffer, and I just don't care?

Then it would be business as usual for PETA. Except replace "lobsters" with any other animal.

2008-06-03 03:26:54 PM
poor lobsters, subject, for their wrongdoing, to 3 square meals a day, a roof, a bed, cable tv and conjugal visits.

i weep for them. maybe i should climb into a lobster pot, otherwise I have to work for that stuff (and die anyway, eventually)

now, PeTA, do what you're best at and get naked to discourage me from doing things that might make you get nakeder...er again.

j__z: hmmm, what prison gang would the lobster join?

Instead of potential rape, the lobster would have to deal with potentially being eaten.

SMISM Prison?

/Stuff me in someone's mouth prison.

PETA spends time and resources on crap like this
while animal shelters run by overworked volunteers have to beg for funds and food.
but i guess you wont be on camera working an 8-10 hour shift tending to strays

This. Lobsters are essentially sea cockroaches.

Actually, their is one thing wrong with Lobster tanks. The lobsters are in them too long and then the claw meat shrinks. Pulls at the heart strings. Go eat a lobster today so they spend less time in the tank and you get more claw meat!

/Liberate a lobster from a tank, eat it!

I suspect that PETA has little interest in influencing behavior among the moderate majority but only in collecting donations from an extremist minority.

dlime16: Most likely. Lobsters were considered terrible food for years, rats of the sea. Before refrigeration it was the poor fishermans food.

Why is that? Because they spoiled too quickly for mass consumption?

Or was it that people didn't know how to eat them properly and chucked them back on looks alone?

Your pet lobster wants a hot bath and some buttery skin treatment.

I dunno, but I hate terrist lobsters ...

Place the lobster in a shaking container with bright light! No sleep, no rest. If it doesn't tell us where to find its delicious brethren it gets the boiler!!!

Jesus Christ, I want lobster. Lobster and bacon.

/Have you had them together? It's outstanding.

2008-06-03 03:34:23 PM
Its funny because they used to feed lobsters to prisoners in the 1800s and early 1900s.

Lobsters were crap food that only poor people ate.

True. I should have said, "PETA will never turn homo sapiens into herbivores". Would have been more accurate.

Let's see . . . Peta thinks making me look at nude wimmin will keep me from buying my wife a fur . . .

and they think that I'll sign up for the "experience" of putting rubber bands on my hands and sitting in a filth-strewn glass tank for an hour.

Jebus, they're stupid.

I always assumed because they spoiled too quickly for consumption. You have to eat them live so it would be much tougher to get them anywhere besides the sea shore.

Admittadly I know this from stuff my dad has told me over the years, he can sling some bull when he wants to so I take this all with a grain of salt.

I blindfold my lobsters and offer them a cigarette just prior to plunging them headfirst into a boiling pot of water. If this is fine for humans under the Geneva convention then it has to be okay for the lobsters.

/Tried the firing squad thing but just too messy.

what_now: PETA would have a lot more sympathy if they were more moderate. You aren't going to get homo sapiens to stop being carnivores, but you might get them to stop fighting pit bulls.

You're missing the point. PETA is a club for people who hate people and like feeling superior and who crazily ascribe all human sentience, sapience, and intelligence to all organisms.

There's plenty of other groups for people who just actually care about animals, such as the ASPCA, various humane societies, and wilderness preservation societies.

Asking PETA to stop being douchey is like asking a bee to stop being buzzy.

Lobsters have almost no brain.

They don't suffer. Stop anthropomorphizing animals!

There are a lot more important matters.

My mother, who grew up in Boston, never got used to the concept of lobster as a luxury. It's what the poor people ate; the well-to-do had beef and the upper middle class had chicken.

Orange juice, on the other hand, was a luxury beyond price. She'd never pour more than a 2 oz glass for any of us. She had a 1920's mentality in the 50's.

Refrigeration and fast freight have changed your life more than you know.

'bout time. I hope all you murdering meat eaters suffer a heart attack from all the fat in animals and the precious butter you love to spread on murdered meat you consume.

So the lobsters get 3 hots, a cot, a weightroom, and cable tv?

FTA: "Mainers have been dragging lobsters from their ocean homes for generations," said PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. "It's time for them to learn that these fascinating animals deserve more than being treated as mere commodities."

Delicious, delicious fascinating commodities.

PETA said the center would feature interactive exhibits such as a human-size lobster trap where visitors can have their fingers wrapped in large rubber bands that will remain on for their entire visit.

"At that point, visitors can be moved to a small, filth-strewn glass tank where they will be crammed together and confined for up to an hour," the proposal states.

OH BOY! DISNEYLAND!

So in other words, PETA is opening an S&M ride. Will the safety word be "Fur is Murder"?
