Note to All:

Please ignore the link that LtRazak is bound to post in here.

You will become stupider for having anything to do with this complete waste of air.

Why not try a 3 war doctrine? We could send the Rhode Island National Guard in to kick Canada's little Frenchie ass.

2002-11-25 09:58:24 AM
Americans wanting more war, eh?

2002-11-25 09:59:12 AM
Wasn't WWII a multi-theatre war? What's the difference between that and carrying out operations against two (or more)hostiles?
2002-11-25 09:59:13 AM
Ahhhh, leave Canada alone. They are America's "best friend." Just ask Francoise Ducros. Asshat, eh?
2002-11-25 09:59:47 AM
Here's just a head's up not to click on that asshat LtRazak's link before he posts it in here too.

2002-11-25 09:59:51 AM
Why is our war doctrine a matter of public record? I guess we could tell everyone what's going on in Top Secret and above projects while we're at it. And oh yeh, here's the president's schedule and flight path because everyone is entitled to that information. /sigh
2002-11-25 09:59:55 AM
Yeah, just like we wanted war in the Balkans .. you know ,that little genocidal event MC'd by Milosevic, the one that the Europeans couldn't be bothered trying to stop?
2002-11-25 09:59:59 AM
The Bush Administration not following precedents or any rules? N0 W4Y d00d!11111111

Would the administrain PLEASE stop trying to tie the war with Iraq to the war on terrorism? Everytime I read a quote like that from Rice I want to tear my hair out. Give it up -- it's not fooling anyone.

You can have your war with Iraq, you can have your war on terrorism, just stop insulting our intelligence by continually claiming they're the same thing!!!
2002-11-25 10:02:26 AM
Good point, Morden2261....
2002-11-25 10:05:31 AM
I don't think that there is a difference at all. Multi theatre or multi enemy is the same thing. We're still splitting our military. Now, that could be a bad thing, if our military was any weaker than it is. If the gov. will keep it's nose out of military affairs (i.e. micro mannagement like Vietnam) then the military will do it's job with speed and efficiency.
2002-11-25 10:06:32 AM
No waiting for the war to be almost won before storming in and "saving Europe" this time, huh?

2002-11-25 10:06:36 AM
I think we should adopt the "We can fight 6 wars at the same time with one arm tied behind our back" doctrine.

Sure, it's not true, but do we want our enemies to know that??
2002-11-25 10:06:51 AM
What is this link from LtRazak that people keep mentioning?
2002-11-25 10:07:19 AM
Damn you Ivan! Damn you to hell!!!
2002-11-25 10:07:52 AM
peace-loving nation? fark off! it's a war-loving nation!
way to go America. that's why you're so loved.

/severe sarcasm.

The Pentagon adopted the two-war requirement after the Gulf War. It was designed in part to discourage a potential aggressor, such as North Korea, from making trouble for U.S. forces in the region when this country is caught up in a major war elsewhere, such as the Middle East.

Indeed, some speculate that China may try to invade Taiwan if the US is busy in Iraq. Similarly, some published reports have supported fears that Ariel Sharon might spend the last days of his administration pushing Palestinians out of the Territories while the US messes around in Iraq; at least one report claims he would order such an action the day a large-scale invasion takes place. Chances are, we could name a few other countries that might try to use the "preemptive defense" doctrine that Bush has been trying to use on Iraq for months now.

On another note...

"Iraq is a part of the war on terrorism," Rice said

Separately, homeland security adviser Tom Ridge contended: "Clearly the president and everyone is confident that we can deal with the terrorist threat and, if we have to, deal with Iraq as well."

So... ummmm... is Iraq part of the terrorist threat, or a separate issue? Depends who you ask on what day, it seems.

Meanwhile, everyone continues to make decisions for Iraqis and Kurds, while not asking what they'd like to see in a post-Saddam Iraq.

And lets not forget the ongoing Afgham quagmire

How many Dead Americans is it going to take to ensure Bush's re-election sorry I mean victory.

Management, it was supposed to read.
2002-11-25 10:11:38 AM
Maybe we will attack Saudi Arabia as they fund and harbor terrorists? , Naw, it'll never happen, Bush has too many ties there....
2002-11-25 10:15:24 AM
Methinks the US needs to get out of the Balkans. Let the Europeans take care of their own backyard.
2002-11-25 10:15:25 AM
We are all chocolate covered peanuts? or just peanuts?
2002-11-25 10:16:14 AM
Wait a minute....we're at war? With who? When was the resolution for war passed?
2002-11-25 10:18:06 AM
Utter_bastard, this asshat is in a game called Outwar. Appearently, if you click on one of his links, he gets to be better in the game or something...

He's basically trying to get people from FARK to click on his links to make himself better in the game.

I've just e-mailed a complaint to the game admins and I encourage everyone else to let this asshat have it.

Maybe if we spam Outwars as a result of him, they'll kill his account. - there's the direct link to complain about this asshat.
2002-11-25 10:19:19 AM
Bass555 - I think the difference is being totally prepared for a 2 front war in peacetime, versus mobilizing for the second front when needed.

The reason to abandon the 2 front doctrine is to reduce the military budget.
2002-11-25 10:22:20 AM
I say we all start playing outwar and just kill the little farktard over and over.
2002-11-25 10:23:13 AM
I would think the that the US military has the resources, certainly, at the very least, to respond to a sudden 2nd front possibility
2002-11-25 10:23:42 AM
LoneReams -- I think the resolution for war was passed in November 2000.... or more accurately: when Jeb Bush finished fixing the results. :)

Please note: I'm not passing judgment on the morality of the war here so don't flame me on that. But I think it's safe to say that Bush's election was, more than anything, the event which guaranteed another war with Iraq.
2002-11-25 10:25:18 AM
Moronden2261... 'fixing the results?' You bed-wetting, bleeding-heart liberals just can't accept you lost. Get a life and move on.
2002-11-25 10:25:34 AM

It's a widely known fact that without Britain/US threatening to open a third front in Europe that the USSR would have been scissored from the east and south. (through Balkans coming up from Africa)

Furthermore, Monty (British) was given the green light in his attempt to end the war early (mostly British armor, but a significant number of US infantry and air power in support) and we all know how Operation Market Garden ended.

Unless Germany had been forced to split forces between defending Italy, France, and fighting through the Soviet Union the result of the war would have been signifantly different.
2002-11-25 10:27:13 AM
Flyairdave- into a building! You bed-wetting, angst burdened, SUV driving "conservatives" need to grow a clue.
2002-11-25 10:27:34 AM
I think the two war doctrine means two REAL wars... and since there's not many countries against which the US would be fighting a real war (as opposed to a cakewalk) I don't see the US having a problem.
2002-11-25 10:28:15 AM
SUV? Never.
Mercedes-Benz here. ;-)
2002-11-25 10:30:25 AM
No more need to worry bout any link posting from Ltrazak.
2002-11-25 10:30:25 AM
Funny how everyone is ready to leap in with their WW2 anologies, yet people seem to forget a rather more recent war, Vietnam.
2002-11-25 10:30:46 AM
Bass555 - I do think we have the resources to "respond" to multiple fronts - the 2 war doctrine demands the ability to fight to wars to complete victory on opposing fronts.

Without the doctrine, the plan would be to stall the second front until forces could be brought to bear.
2002-11-25 10:30:52 AM
GratefulDead: If bush were intent on wiping out those who fund, harbour and train terrorists, he'd be looking a LOT closer to home...
2002-11-25 10:32:35 AM
Goatman264 - that was exactly my point. ;)
2002-11-25 10:32:45 AM
Flyairdave -- I knew that comment would freak someone out. :)
2002-11-25 10:33:39 AM
DBCooper, I'm glad to see you survived the fall. ;-)
2002-11-25 10:34:46 AM
Harmonia: Ok, I'll bite...How was Viet Nam a two front (or theatre) war?
2002-11-25 10:35:33 AM
When did the war on terrorism count as a war in this sense? Haven't they been telling us that it will mostly consist of police and special forces? This just seems another way to justify a massive military and its leaders.
2002-11-25 10:35:33 AM
Bass555.. VietNam & Kent, Ohio?
2002-11-25 10:35:57 AM
I am all for chaos and destruction, so bring on the napalm and missles. There are entirely too many people on the planet and we need to thin the herd a little. I say we start with tac nukes on NASCAR races and tractor pulls. Then we can go to Iraq and kill everyone there too.

Never forget we are a war like lot.
2002-11-25 10:37:45 AM
Flyairdave: Kind of a stretch, don't you think?
2002-11-25 10:40:05 AM
Bass555... It was a joke, like everything on Fark.
