Sigh. Wake me when there's anything new...

/not a wedding photographer
//not that there's anything wrong with that

Yessir, that's a whole lotta stupid.

If you don't want to be hired for a gay wedding then name your company "We Hate Gay People Photography".

2008-05-22 10:40:49 PM
Isn't it generally the ones that fear the ghey the most that are ghey themselves? Or something like that?

/Doesn't subscribe to James Dobson's newsletter

I would describe Focus On The Family's stance on this issue as being wide.

Are you kidding? If this law were to be passed, that's the FIRST one that would be picked for gay weddings... just to piss that guy off.

Focus on the Family Action and Colorado Family Action say the bill would have serious consequences, such as opening Colorado public restrooms and locker rooms to all genders and transgendered people, exposing children and women to sexual predators.

BAHAHAHA! Oh man. These people must freak out when they pee in a public restroom. WATCH OUT GAY RAPISTS!

Gasp, focus on the family doesn't like the creation of families that aren't straight, white, christian, and virginical? I don't believe it, obviously some liberal somewhere is lying about something. Those poor brave people, having to suffer through the existance of minorities.

Is it me or do folks like Dobson and his organization obsess about gay sexuality more than even homosexuals?

I can't imagine what it takes to spend your life so thoroughly fixated on the matter. If you simply don't like it or don't "agree" with it, that's one thing. I think you're a tool, but it's largely not an issue.

When you literally begin to dedicate your life to things like this, however... well, all I'm gonna say is that you probably have some cards or a "wide stance" you aren't showing.

Oh, Jeebus. (the real Jeebus, not FotF's fake Jeebus.)

My aunt does PR for a Christian book publisher, the one that does the Left Behind (the rapture novels) series. I was helping her at a convention once when I was like 13, and I met the guys in charge of Focus on the Family. Even then I remember thinking that they were weird-ass people.

Isn't Dobson the one whose solution to making sure you're kid doesn't turn out to be a gaymo was: "Show him your dick when he's really young, then he won't be gay?"

You socially permissive idiots have no idea what you're getting into. Gay weddings mean gay bridesmaids. This means their already deviant homosexual libido will be increased 10 fold by the realization that they're still single and lonely and getting older by the day.

We'll be having public gay orgies in churches and city parks across the nation! Is that really the America you want your children growing up in?

Personally, I'm not terribly fond of the gay lifestyle, and though not passionate about it, would tend to be against gay marriage, mostly because of concerns about gay couples raising children. But this is beside the point.

Having said that, this law is stupid, and there really shouldn't be any public discrimination based on sexual orientation. A wedding photographer doesn't have to offer his services to anyone, based on any reason, at any given time. My libertarian side wins out on this issue.

suppose you're driving down the interstate on a terrible winter day. you just want to make it home safely, and one mile from the exit, a tanker truck skids on the ice and jackknifes on top of your car, rendering you unconscious. your car catches fire, and a motorist passing by knows that in just a matter of seconds your car will explode, killing you.

its the middle of the night and not many other cars are around

just for fun, let's say your gorgeous trophy wife and beautiful baby are in the car with you. a motorist stops, and 2 men get out and risk risks their own lives, run up to you, pull the 3 of you out to safety, just as the whole car engulfs in flames.

you know if it weren't for them, you'd all be dead.

let's say these 2 men are gay. would you say "oh, for sure, they are sinners and going to hell" ?

would you?

if anyone out there says yes, you really need to DIAF. if anyone says no, then what would it matter?

they say "homosexuality is unnatural". you know what else is unnatural?....everything.

cars, houses, the computer you're on. everything is unnatural.

religion is a choice. homosexuality is not.

but even if it were...if someone decided to try the cock and decided he liked it, what buisness is it of yours?

/not gay but cmon. its 2008.
//if homosexuality bothers you, you're obviously a homosexual because you're always thinking about anal sex

If we start treating gay people fairly then who can we hate to feel better about ourselves? You liberal bastards already took away hating people based on their skin. What next, you'll say we can't hate people because they have a different religion?

\It's a damned slipper slope I tell you

Seriously, what's the problem with gay people raising kids?

Honestly, this kind of open-ended legislation is exactly what we evil homos have been waiting for.
The time is nearly at hand, just you wait! We'll re-decorate everything! And make it more efficient! It will be madness!

Jim Pfaff, president of Colorado Family Action, said the measure could have numerous repercussions. For example, a wedding photographer would have to shoot the commitment ceremony of a gay couple, regardless of the photographer's religious beliefs about homosexuality.
"These are just scare tactics," said bill sponsor Sen. Jennifer Veiga, D-Denver. "These kinds of problems just don't materialize because of this kind of legislation."

Yes, nothing like this could ever possibly happen (new window).

Honestly, as a homo so flaming that I don't need to carry a lighter, I find this to be totally bogus--those people had just as much right to refuse to photograph those people as I do to refuse them my business. I wouldn't have complained, I would have just said, "Fine, me and my delicious money will go elsewhere," and found someone who wouldn't have photoshopped all of my wedding photos to include the flames of hell.
That being said, a couple of whiny biatches does not negate the need for fair and equal laws--people are always going to bring about stupid lawsuits, but that shouldn't ruin life for the rest of us.

Well I am totally against gay marriage for one reason. It means I'd have to buy even more farking wedding gifts and attend more showers and god help me, attend lameass parties where the DJ plays crap music and it's a cash bar.

You seriously think they faked the whole thing, including the government's ruling (new window)? Because if so you should inform the New Mexico human rights commissioner that they forged his signature. You could get the "fundie propagandafest" shut down.

Yes, we need to have anti-discrimination laws. They just need to be carefully crafted so that they don't encroach on first amendment territory.

For what it's worth, that ruling is blatantly unconstitutional and should be easily overturned. I don't think that means that we shouldn't have anti-discrimination laws.

Their heads would reach critical mass if any of them went to Europe. Unisex bathrooms and the like aren't exactly the rarest of facilities, and even places where you have two entrances to a restroom tend to lead to a single unisex restroom on the other side.

Yes, nothing like this could ever possibly happen (new window).

You asshats need to get a schtick that isn't old and busted. The pricks weren't fined for refusing to photograph a gay wedding, they were fined for making it clear that they were refusing the service due solely to the customer's sexual orientation. They would have been fined the same amount if they had responded to an inquiry by saying "I'm not interested because I don't want to photograph a bunch of Chinks".
