i want the mets to throw inside and break yunel escobar's hand the next game. what a drtbag.

i'm sure escobar was trying to knee him in the head. you do run the risk of injury when trying to take out a player on a double play

The Mets should just forfeit games at Turner Field and save the time and catastrophe.

When I first saw it I thought he got hit with the throw. That was a brutal hit.

What an idiot statement. I'm not sure Escobar could have physically lifted his leg any higher in an attempt to avoid contact. If anything the Mets baserunner came in WAY too high in an attempt to break up the play.

Church didn't even try to slide. He looked like he was going in to take out Escobar like he was charging a catcher. Escobar tried to get his leg over him, Church went "Oh shiat!" and tried to duck, clipped Escobar's leg.

If anything Church is the one who's to blame.

THAT. Mother farker damn near came in standing up, and Escobar lifted his leg such that it was straight out to the side - he's a ball player, not a ballerina... how much higher could he lift it?

I hope Church doesn't miss too many games. He's one of the few position players on my team that are producing. Guess Ethier will see some play time...

I was at the game last night...

So I'm really getting a kick etc.

Best part about the 2nd game was seeing an excellent start by Campillo. The variety of his pitching was great. He also had a curve that was just wicked looking from my seat (16th row behind the plate - free corporate tickets FTW!).

Chipper looked great again lat night as well. 2-4 in the second game to raise his average to .409.

Tell Ryan Church to think about sliding next time instead of trying to run over the shortstop.

He did it twice in the game and both times his helmet hit Escobar in the thigh/knee area. And, in the 9th inning, Escobar was 2 feet away from the bag and Church still went after him.

Where Escobar threw the ball, it missed Church's head by a few inches. I would think that a ball to the face or a knee to the side of the head would convince him that he should consider actually sliding like normal people do.

bulldg4life: He did it twice in the game and both times his helmet hit Escobar in the thigh/knee area.

The first time wasn't really Church's fault. Escobar took a weird route across second towards first and into the running lane, and Church was already popping up from a proper slide.

The second one (the concussion one) was much more Church's fault.

That incident was completely Church's fault. He slid about 4 feet right of second base. He was completely out of the baseline.

The Mets are notoriously bad against pitchers making their major league debut. It's kind of ridiculous, really.

Yes I know it wasn't his debut. Close enough.

I think Smoltz shut them out 4-0 in his debut.

My bad...it appears it was 6-1.

Church is on our fantasy baseball team, and of course the second he gets hurt we start getting our asses handed to us. I think today was the first day that the Mets played since we picked him up that we benched him, because he has been tearing it up for the Mets.

/My friend and I are running the team collectively, hence the "we" and "our"
