Damn. My idea of Theismann laying on the turf didn't make the cut.

2008-05-20 12:56:35 PM
And the black guy is still last. And the don't even put him on a real state.

2008-05-20 01:25:36 PM
That's too bad.

Instead of "In God We Trust" it could have said "The biatch Set Me Up"

2008-05-20 01:28:20 PM
GO Frederick Douglass!

/douglass 08

2008-05-20 02:11:11 PM
aw, i was so looking forward to the marion berry and crack pipe motif.

When did DC become a state?

2008-05-20 02:12:18 PM
DC isn't a state. Do Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii and West Virginia get quarters too??

2008-05-20 02:12:19 PM
Hey! Why does Douglass get the quarter and Lincoln only got the penny! Lincoln won!

/ducks

My design of a homeless guy on a park bench who was being held up by another homeless guy didn't make the cut.

2008-05-20 02:13:13 PM
Glock automatic? Tell me, how many of those actually exist in this country?

/ignorant people should just not comment on guns
//no really. It's not automatic. It's semi-automatic.
///yes, that matters.

2008-05-20 02:13:15 PM
How 'bout Marion Barry smokin' crack?

2008-05-20 02:13:20 PM
Frederick Douglas? Really?

Not that I have anything against the man. He was a great speaker and activist. But when I think D.C., Frederick Douglas is not the first image I think of.

They are all black numb-nuts...

/can't you see the bulging lips.

Duke Ellington?

CravenMorehead: And the black guy is still last. And the don't even put him on a real state.

Regardless, a black guy gets the nod. That's far better than nothing at all, or worse, having some cracker-ass Georgetown hipster rich kid on the back of the quarter...

Mr. Coffee Nerves: Damn. My idea of Theismann laying on the turf didn't make the cut.

I would collect as many of those quarters as I could...

2008-05-20 02:14:26 PM
hectomoo: Duke Ellington?

I used to walk across his brige in DC all the time.

PowerSlacker: When did DC become a state?

It's not, it's still a district. Puerto Rico still outranks it.

2008-05-20 02:14:58 PM
The biatch did set him up.

2008-05-20 02:15:04 PM

Umm...fail much?

What, no Marion Berry, Tony Kornheiser or Michael Wilbon?

Seriously, the Frederick Douglas or Benjamin Banneker would be great.

Do you have one chambered in .45SACP?

It can be used to refer to a semi-auto. Anyhow, I think subby should've gone with "Lorcin .380" instead.

vernonfl: DC isn't a state. Do Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii and West Virginia get quarters too??

I used to be a numismatist, so I'm really getting a kick out these replies.

Actually, there will be six more quarters coming out next year, two of which will be Guam and Puerto Rico. IIRC, there will also be quarters for the Virgin Islands and American Samoa. I don't recall what the other two will be.

/coin collecting FTW!
//philately will get you nowhere

I cant remember. Have we already done a PS contest on this?

If not, it is just SCREAMING to be done.

funny, I was hoping for an angry "dro-in-the-wind" picturing him railing against all of us for our racist comments..he is from DC, I believe..

What they should have used is a bunch of lobbyists and politicians taking a big fat stinking dump on a globe.

2008-05-20 02:16:53 PM
Isn't the idea that it was supposed to represent the whole city? Of course, most of Northwest DC doesn't want to associate with the city, anyway...

2008-05-20 02:17:26 PM
I think the design on the quarter for the nation's capital ought to have something to do with being the nation's capital.

Maybe affirmative action kicked in or something.

2008-05-20 02:17:39 PM
djh0101010: really. It's not automatic. It's semi-automatic.

This.

If, when you pull the trigger, the gun fires a single round and mechanically chambers a second round, but requires you to pull the trigger again to fire that 2nd round, this is a semi-automatic.

If you pull the trigger and multiple rounds fire out of the gun, this is an automatic.

Not quite sure where the 'Nam era M-16 that was limited to a 3-round burst fits in.

Hawaii and West Virginia are technically not states.

/And I'll be cold in my grave before I recognize Missourah!

It probably costs $5 to make and doesn't even work.

Considering that every type of money we have now has something from the nation's capitol on it I don't have a problem with something that represents the residents of DC

Of all the landmarks in DC and this is all they can come up with? Seriously? It probably cost over $10 million to make a committee to oversee the committee who appointed a committee to commission artists to submit this crap. The artists were clearly family friends as no real artist would admit to creating any of these abominations.

2008-05-20 02:19:29 PM
I live in DC, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

/actually I'm in Michigan, just wanted to say it before someone else did.

If I'm not mistaken, these are state quarters. Last time I'd checked, D.C. is not a state.

vernonFL: And I'll be cold in my grave before I recognize Missourah!

VA is a "Commonwealth". I think that is Latin for hemorrhaging tax money.

I like the duke ellington design.

2008-05-20 02:20:39 PM
how about just the capitol, the washington monument, and some cherry blossoms. would that have been so hard?

2008-05-20 02:20:39 PM
I thought both Douglass and Banneker were from the area around Annapolis, MD. At least that's where the museum dedicated to them is located.

FeloniousQ: how about just the capitol, the washington monument, and some cherry blossoms. would that have been so hard?

Apparently there has to be a black dude featured on it.

Final STATE quarter (Hawaii) issued at the end of 2008...after that, it's just "filler"

2008-05-20 02:23:54 PM
Someone once walked in on my fapping session so I had to use a book on my desk to cover my boner - I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

/will never be on a quarter
//Wha' 'cha lookin' at there Freddy?

At least they worked the "steel plate" commonly used to cover holes in the streets into the backgrounds.

I used to pump quarters into the Mortal Kombat arcade machine at the mall when I was 12, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies!
