Who didn't do what now?

I guess I should read the article.

2008-05-20 09:32:36 AM
Officials said the soldier asserted he wasn't aware the book was the Quran, but U.S. officials rejected the claim.

What a farking weasel. His mother must be proud of him.

Taking responsibility for a subordinates actions is for suckers

FTA: "I come before you here seeking your forgiveness," Hammond said to tribal leaders and others at the ceremony. "In the most humble manner I look in your eyes today and I say please forgive me and my soldiers."

I wonder how many soldiers will now desecrate a Koran to get shipped out of Iraq? It's better than a Section Eight!

2008-05-20 09:34:07 AM
Maybe the sniper was making a political / artistic statement, that the Koran is over-rated.

2008-05-20 09:36:39 AM
Aww, somebody shot their fable book.

2008-05-20 09:36:56 AM
farking_cold_up_here: Maybe the sniper was making a political / artistic statement, that the Koran is over-rated.

He just wanted to make the Koran a more holey text, that's all.

2008-05-20 09:37:04 AM
Bush most likely did apologize. They just hired Hussein PR people. There is no war in Iraq!

2008-05-20 09:37:23 AM
Having not read the article, I'm pretty sure my next statement will be null and void when I do. But I'll say it anyway.

In around about way, one can claim that since this soldier's superiors have apologized and since Bush is the commander and chief of the military, one can make the claim that by extension Bush DID apologize. After all, aren't all leaders supposed to be responsible for the actions of those they lead? Of course, it's a huge leap but it the argument still can be made.

Now I'm off to actually read the article and see if my first thought was in anyway valid.

2008-05-20 09:37:55 AM
Odd how this is only a big deal when it's a Koran. Might have something to do with all the riots and violence that result.

2008-05-20 09:38:30 AM
WTF does "deep concern" mean?

"I have deep concern over global warming."
"I have deep concern over violations of human rights."
"I have deep concern over any movie staring Ashton Kutcher."

Fark this lip service. Stop with the political doublespeak.

2008-05-20 09:39:47 AM
if it makes them feel better they can shoot a bible

2008-05-20 09:40:03 AM
The soldier's an asshole, but it's only a problem because we've installed a theocracy.

2008-05-20 09:40:07 AM
What's the big deal... the Koran and the Bible's stories are already full of holes.

I use my copy to make paper straws to drink my favorite mixture of pork and liquor.

Is that wrong?

Anti-book activists are pleased.

/not me though, i like books...
//even one as backwards as the Quran
///hotlinked like satan surfing 4 pr0n

2008-05-20 09:41:19 AM
It's a farking book.

The fact that idiots feel justified in murdering innocent men, women and children over it doesn't make it any different.

If it were the Bible, Talmud, Book of the Dead, The Iliad or the Aeneid, would there be outrage?

It's a book

God jorb out there bushy. Make sure to clarify that when our guys mess up, we do NOT apologize. Even if you think our expression of concern is an apology, rather than just let it go to keep relations happy, we'll actually specifically call out that we did NOT apologize. take THAT cuz we're AMERICA BIATCHES!

2008-05-20 09:41:42 AM
How would we react if a Muslim occupying force in say, Alabama or Texas used a Bible for target practice and wrote blasphemous graffiti on the pages?

Yes. You're wasting perfectly good rolling papers.

I would use the story that he was carrying it around and it saved his life.
//thats my story and I am sticking to it.

mental: I wonder how many soldiers will now desecrate a Koran to get shipped out of Iraq? It's better than a Section Eight!

"President Bush expressed his deep concern over the incident and told Prime Minister [al-Maliki] that the soldier has been reprimanded by his commanders and removed from Iraq," Johndroe said.

I was thinking the same thing after reading this. Kind of reminds me when I was in school how they would suspend a person caught cutting class.

If they really want to punish him, extend his tour.

I have deep concern over Muslim women rights
I have deep concern over killing none-Muslims
I have deep concern over using women as bombs
I have deep concern over etc.

Sums up the Bush frame of mind.

I am King!
I "apologize" to no one!
I can make no mistakes!

2008-05-20 09:43:59 AM
In all honesty the soldier did nothing illegal. It's not his fault the country he's in puts more emphasis on a book then human life and decency. I'd be more pissed off if Bush did apologize.

Shooting is not the new hotness - effigies are still in. Lesson learned, don't try to impose progress on other nations.

hugram: What's the big deal... the Koran and the Bible's stories are already full of holes.

Excellent! Nicely played.

Maybe Goose-stepping morons like as yourself should try reading books instead of shooting at them.

Another military official kissed a Quran and presented it as "a humble gift" to the tribal leaders.

While it doesn't specifically say "US military official," doesn't anyone have an enormous problem with this? Whats next, officers trading in their BDU's for a dishdashah?

vernonFL: How would we react if a Muslim occupying force in say, Alabama or Texas used a Bible for target practice and wrote blasphemous graffiti on the pages?

The National Endowment for the Arts would give him a grant.

For farks sake, what will it take for these stories to stop showing up? Stupid shiat like this is what inspires young Saudis to blow our troops up.

2008-05-20 09:46:30 AM
The party said it reacted to the news "with deep resentment and indignation" and wants the "severest of punishments" for the action.

someone's losing their head over the matter

Even if apologizing might save the lives of US troops!

The poor PM. He was trying to be diplomatic. Once the White House caught wind of that, they shot it all to hell.

It would have been better off politically if the guy had used a Muslim woman for target practice instead.

2008-05-20 09:46:44 AM
ah shoot give em one of these to shoot and we can call it even

tony.guerich.googlepages.com

they are all works of fiction right?

Clandestine digital operative: /not me though, i like books...

But do you like them enough to want some sort of criminal punishment for people who desecrate them. I love books, but don't think you should be punished if you destroy one. Not even if it's a religious one... maybe especially if it's a religious one.

/ripped apart my sister's new testament when I was 3
//didn't know what it was, just happened to be nearby when I was mad at her

The al-Maliki puppet is dangling from fewer strings these days.

2008-05-20 09:47:17 AM
It's easy to upset the fanatically superstitious and difficult to upset the spiritual. That's how I tell them apart both as individuals and as religions.

2008-05-20 09:47:36 AM
Would it destroy America or something to say, "Hey, I'm sorry one of our soldiers screwed up, and he's being punished?"

Everyone makes mistaeks.

2008-05-20 09:48:34 AM
Yeah, I want to hear apologies from these dune-mooncrickets for not being able to run their crap hole of a country for the last 5 years. Fark'em! It's time to surround the oil fields and let the buggers fight it out on their own.

Heck, just nuke the shiathole from orbit. Won't affect the oil at all. And even if it does the slopes will still buy it at a premium. We'll just tell 'em that it a good omen to ward off earthquakes.

Yeah, because fortunately the people we ousted had been secular....
Saddam's copy of the Koran written in his own blood (new window)

2008-05-20 09:49:49 AM
I can't see Bush apologizing for anything, ever.

I know it's just a book, but it's also a farking stupid thing to do, given the situation.

2008-05-20 09:50:02 AM
I have deep concern about swamp-ass.

vernonFL: How would we react if a Muslim occupying force in say, Alabama or Texas used a Bible for target practice and wrote blasphemous graffiti on the pages?

A) Will not happen, ESPECIALLY in Texas, since we possess guns and the spirit of freedom. However, I would love to see an attempt...that would be priceless.

B) So what? Who cares about a ancient work of fiction?

C) I write sexual innuendo and mock christians in hotel room bibles wherever I stay (used to just spit in them, this is much more fun). Fark jesus and his people. Fark allah and his peoples. Fark anyone that bases a life on ancient texts that were written to give power to some and control the others.

D) Why the FARK are we even in Iraq????????????????? As much as I do not want any of the three candidates in office, I want Bush and his band of morans out.

E) Jesse 'The Body' Ventura 2012!

/yeah...yeah...I'm an asshole...

Imo

Quran = Bible

It's not illegal to shoot a bible, so stop whining about your precious Quran.

I wiped my ass with a Quran / Kuran / stupid Arab book this morning :-P

//aisle seat, I'll have the steak

2008-05-20 09:51:16 AM
Man, we're a classy country. It would be so wrong, somehow, to apologize for one dipshiat guy's actions that they need to issue a formal statement clarifying that we didn't apologize.
