The psycho denomination of Christianity already had Star bucks boycotted because of their support for homosexual activist's. Either way the new logo does look a lot better. I would rather have caribou Coffee personally though.

You mean to tell me the next time I get a Starbucks Latte I will have to be careful where I put my thumb? Man that's not even legs she's spreading. It looks more like a skirt. I'd be more concerned about the blatant show of nipples.

Get a life guys.

It's her legs, they're scaly looking because she's some sort of freaky half-human/half-mermaid creature with two fishy legs instead of a tail.

By the time Starbucks came to Hawaii, they already had the new logo. For months I was trying to figure out what the hell those WERE flanking her head.

Then they rolled back the 1970s logo.

Now, I work with a bunch of construction workers, but I'm supposed to be the 'straight arrow' regulator. So it kinda threw them off when I looked at it and went, "Hell, boys. What happened to us as a country...what's wrong with TITS? Look at this logo. The modern one, I can't tell WTF it is, and there sure isn't any tits. Look at the old school one, though. Classic."

So, I visited Seattle a while ago, and feeling touristy I took the Underground Tour. The guide put it this way:

"Back when Starbucks was just a local chain, you'd see trucks with the original logo all over town. It wasn't until they went big-time that they gave her the J-Lo makeover and covered up her lattes."

It's not just Christians. We have a whole culture here of the thin-skinned and easily offended. Some people go around looking for reasons to be offended, to biatch and complain about something. We've become a nation of weenies; this is just a small symptom of a much larger problem.

To everyone lashing out at the subby; Relax, nobody thinks these people are representative of all Christians everywhere. However you can't reasonably ask us to ignore an obvious pattern of behavior when this shiat happens on a literally daily basis. Not all of you? Obviously. However, a "tiny, vocal minority? Not buyin' it.

There are far, far too many Christians of this sort in America. Don't lie about it in order to polish your faith's image. Who is filling up all the megachurches? Who comprises the Creationist majority? Instead of pretending it's just a handful of harmless nuts (while those "harmless nuts" worm their way into Washington) why don't we acknowledge their numbers, the threat they represent, and the necessity that we do something to stop them?

Unfortunately, whether it's a vocal minority or a huge demographic, the fanatical brand of Christians have done a great disservice to a religion that was a great well-spring of cultural activity, both good and bad, for almost two millenia. But thanks to these theocratic, nanny-state assholes, most people associate Christianity with hysterical ninnies who are scandalized by the sight of a rather generic mermaid on a coffee cup.

Obscure: "Unfortunately, whether it's a vocal minority or a huge demographic, the fanatical brand of Christians have done a great disservice to a religion that was a great well-spring of cultural activity, both good and bad, for almost two millenia. The best way for moderates to avoid conflation with fundamentalists is to come out strongly against them, and work actively against their political efforts. I would absolutely love to see a contra-fundamentalism movement within the moderate Christian camp!

The reason this hasn't happened yet, as you touched on in another thread, is that most moderated identify with other Christians regardless of their degree of fanaticism. The idea of working against the interests of people who more or less share their religious convictions makes them uncomfortable. Realize though that this phenomenon is why people conflate the two; It's like how most of us expect moderate Muslims to actively oppose the machinations of fundamentalist muslims. That they should be hesitant to do so out of some sort of religious loyalty leads the rest of us to suspect that if it came right down to it, they'd side with the fundies rather than the secular world.
