Corner Gas?

2008-05-15 06:07:48 PM
Fark that. I'm all about the cruises, flights, and road trips this year!

Mission Accomplished

There's no place like home...

2008-05-15 06:08:50 PM
In sunny Puerta Backyarda

2008-05-15 06:09:03 PM
This summer, I'm going to Liberty City for a three month stay.

2008-05-15 06:09:59 PM
Higher gas prices mean less riff-raff on the roads.

2008-05-15 06:10:13 PM
I'm going to stay home, but I'm going to run the A/C with the doors open and a fire in the fireplace, so I probably won't save any money.

2008-05-15 06:10:34 PM
Duh. Cars will be the new dinosaurs.

2008-05-15 06:10:49 PM
All polititians should take a large pay cut til the economy is better.

2008-05-15 06:10:57 PM
skinink

I'll be there with you. Did you get to see any of the gas prices in liberty city? I believe they were 3.59/gallon... much cheaper than anywhere else in real life

2008-05-15 06:11:20 PM
Smoke a bowl or five in the backyard, ride my bike to the pool, take a dip, lay out in the sun, grab a bite to eat, repeat every Saturday until it's too cold and windy to keep a lighter lit.

2008-05-15 06:11:38 PM
I have "stay-cations" all the time. The last thing I want to do after working my ass off 40+ hours a week is plan and execute a packed itinerary that barely leaves me room to breath. I just want to kick back, relax, and vegetate.

So one day cars will fuel Dinosaurs?

Dear Farkers,

I'm now enjoying the sound of rolling waves on an empty beach on a private island in the south . . . screw it. I can't keep up the imagery when I'm stuck in this office.

2008-05-15 06:12:50 PM
stay at home so the beaches and airports are empty.

Think of all the money you will save, while i drink on the white sandy beaches...

Square Grouper here i come!

2008-05-15 06:13:10 PM
That's why it's nice to live near a beach.

2008-05-15 06:13:14 PM
Last year I spent my vacation re-roofing my house... in August. Any thing's better than that.

2008-05-15 06:13:14 PM
FTFA - Then Amy did the math: 17 miles per gallon in the Chevy Suburban and $4 a gallon gas.

Maybe if you did the math when you bought your gas-obliterating road-tank you wouldn't be in this situation now, would you...?

Meh, thats what weekends are for.

I'd prefer to enjoy some place that isn't my house.

I just started working p/t as an intern for an indepedent oil company, and I have to say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I'll make enough money working 20 hours a week to pay for my apt, go away, and pay for gas. It's a shame, because I'd love to grad school, but am going to have to be a corporate whore because of the pending recession.
/that and I've been living off the free food from meetings
//mm, bagels make soul selling sweet
///seriously tho, invest in a good oil company, then you can afford your gas

This is way off topic, but something weird is happening every time I roll through a Fark page that has the Farkitrol ad featuring the little smiling black kid hanging from monkey bars or whatever.

When I catch that ad in my peripheral vision as I scan the page, it always looks like softcore porn. It's happened a dozen times or more, I always scan back up (because, you know, hey... softcore porn), see that it's the happy little dude, then shiver and die a little inside.

Am I going crazy? Am I a peripheral-vision pedophile? Thanks for your help.

2008-05-15 06:14:33 PM
Don't worry, these stimulus checks will solve EVERYTHING

2008-05-15 06:14:48 PM
If we can bail out mortgage defaulters for their bad decisions, why can't we bail out SUV owners for theirs?

2008-05-15 06:15:22 PM
I drive 100 miles commuting to work. Wife does the same.

Last thing i feel like doing is driving anywhere for vacation.

our new house ( in the middle of no where, obviously)
has a pool, hot tub, barn, horses, riding arenas, surrounded by 155 acre wilderness preserve with trails.

tell me what more you need than a few days off to stay at home when you have all that?

btw i'm not trying to brag, it's just my wife still thinks we need to "go somewhere" for a vacation.
anyone siding with me on this one?

/puleeze?

"Staycation" seems like a grossly unnecessary word.

Cubicles are designed to to suck away all will, creativity and idle though, and to avoid that, you need to put some photos and/or posters. But they eventually become part of the cubicle, so you need to put more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and moar and moar and moar and moar and moar an moar an moar an moar an moar an moar an moar an moar i am your god i am your god i am your god i am your god i am your god i am your god...

Just like the ink-blot tests. My question is why is the porn only softcore?

And this is the summer my husband decides we should do a nine-day road trip with his kid. Yay!

2008-05-15 06:17:55 PM
Whatever happened to all the good old American bravado back when gas was chugging up to $2 a gallon? I remember all the SUV owners bravely shrugging and claiming to nevar let gas prices change them! FTW!!!!

$4 a gallon got ya singing a different tune, eh douches? 17 mpg? Suck it...oh yea, just like that...bwahahahahahaaaaaaaaa

/gonna take a ride home on the motorcycle
//50mph all out FTW!
///can get 70 mph driving conservatively

I don't care. Just don't call it a vaca. That's a cow.

I think subby is misusing the word "enjoy" here.

Not really an office. I'm in the storage room. Honestly. But I got an upgrade to two monitors recently. I guess they figured I can do twice as much work that way.

Funny, I'm on a two-month road trip around the US. I think I am outside the standard deviation, though.

My, how tiresome it must be to work.

Next incarnation, DO try to be born to a family of means, won't you? I strongly suggest it.

many lulz were had wh3n staycation got in my hairz.

The large segment of the world that doesn't worry about Staycations but rather STARVATION is unimpressed.

Poor America. Wish I had a waaahmbulance pic.

As nice as that sounds, I wouldn't trade my condo and 6 mile commute for it.

My sanity is worth way more than that.

Probably because she wants to get out of the house. It may be paradise but paradise 365 days a year is no longer paradise, its "home"

In other news:

The Bush Presidency is no longer referring to a soldier's time at war as "tour of duty".

They're now "staycations".

I love the PNW for the fact that there are hundreds of campgrounds within a sixty to ninety minute drive. Food comes out to about fifty bucks for the week, beer and bud another hundred.

Life is good.

/Points and laughs

I'm going to take up a new sport this summer, powerkiting and then maybe to get into kite surfing. I drive a gas guzzling 540i, no way i'll be able to sell it and a road trip to anywhere out of the city will cost a fortune. I'd rather staycation...

2008-05-15 06:24:21 PM
Of course, Americans could always take a trip north of the border and spend even more (new window) on gas!

/thought Alberta had lots of gas
//Why are we paying more?
