Wow. I strongly disagree on Dolemite and Westworld.

Westworld is a great movie and a remake could really kick ass.

It was the first movie to feature "computer generated effects" and to my knowledge the first film to feature a computer virus as the thing that screws everything up.

Find the right tone and Westworld could be really fun.

Dolomite? Hell yeah.

Yeah, if they're coming out with a re-make of Andromeda Strain why not Westworld?

Also Arnold's Terminator has an uncanny resemblance to Yul Brenner's cyborg.

A Dolemite remake has epic potential as long as they keep the comically terrible kung-fu

2008-05-15 12:13:32 AM
Hmm.. if done correctly, the Asia Argento film could've been a good flick in that "so bad it's good" way.

The Michael Jackson flick... part of me wants to kick his butt for even thinking about doing that film, but a part of me really wants to see it. There's no way that thing would end up being anything but a comedy, no matter how hard everyone tried.

I'm just surprised that the Wondertwins movie didn't make the list. Supposedly that travesty was going to be made, but was dropped due to the sheer amount of people that went "Oh dear God, NO!!!!" from both the comic book fanbase & from anyone who's ever seen the old Justice League cartoon.

"The Dolemite Explosion."

HELLS. FARKING. YEAH!

And I'm with T.M.S. on the "Westworld" remake. Done right, I think it could be pretty entertaining.

"...The zombie rock band's zombie rock music would have been handled by Richard Hartley, who was responsible for the songs in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a movie so famously awful that large groups of dedicated followers get together regularly to mock it and throw things at the screen..."

This author is a f--king idiot. You can love or hate Rocky Horror, but fans do not arrive to "mock" the film. They show up because of a genuine appreciation for it. "Haters" do not typically dress as characters from a movie and recite the lyrics to every given song on a weekly basis.

/Stopped reading after that caught my attention. This article is little more than snot transfered to paper and uploaded to a computer screen.

Vanishing Point was a great movie and a remake could have really kicked ass.

Unfortunately, the remake totally sucked and should never be watched by anyone. All copies of it should be destroyed and the ashes put in a nuclear waste dump.

I never really got the LotD hate. It wasn't fantastic by any means, but it was a clever parody of the "war on terror." They even tackled the concept of "shock and awe" while still remaining tense.

Cheesy? Sure, but I enjoyed it.

the author makes the same point about the original Dolemite.

the point isn't that the movie ideas are necessarily bad, but the proposed execution (actors, script, etc.) would make them epic failures.

Well, don't take it so seriously, the commentary is suppossed to be stupid. Cracked has some funny content, I think. The lists are not to be considered comprehensive or even educational, it's a complete joke.

No, it failed bad. Romero came out publicly and said that he didn't like the remake of Dawn of the Dead (which was excellent, and exceeded the original). So, he ventured out to make a better movie and failed hard.

Return of the living dead was his best. (all of this is just my opinion of course)

Turns out Return of the living dead wasn't even his. So it's twice now that someone has taken the Romero premise and made it better. Doesn't say much for him.

Romero had nothing to do with Return of the Living Dead.

That came from Dan O'Bannon's brain.
