He's not a celebrity. That might be why.

In a way, this does make sense: he's at extreme risk in general population, because who wouldn't want to beat the shiat out of him anyway. And while that would amuse us all greatly, getting the shiat beaten out of him is not part of his punishment for his crime.

I mean, I know that if anyone goes to jail, there's a risk of them getting an assbeating, but there's a special target on his back.

Absolutely no reason to get preferential treatment.

Meh, they isolate people all the time if they think that they would be in danger in the general population.

Celebrity? I'd never heard of him until he pulled this stunt ;)

Let me see if I've got the story correct?

Rich kids driving Toyota Supra and a Dodge Viper after a day of partying and drinking out to sea on their dad's boat wreck the cars and lay one of the guys up in a hospital for life.

Sorry kid, no pity from me but I think it's really the parents fault anyway for letting teenagers drive those kind of power cars.

Most of the time, the only people that get their 'ass beat' in jail are the same people that needed it before they went in.

And once your PC'd, it only draws more attention to you.

Subby should be cockpunched for that headline.

1. He's a juvenile, and in a non-juvenile facility.

2. As much as we would enjoy to see this punk get an ass-kicking, we live in a nation of justice and laws. He wasn't sentenced to an ass-kicking, and thus we have an obligation to ensure he does not receive one.

3. Prison rape is not funny, because it usually turns a time-limited sentence into a death sentence. AIDS runs rampant in the corrections system. Again, you might not care about someone convicted of a crime, but if we are to have any kind of credibility as a nation of laws of justice (and we're pushing that boundary already) then turning our backs on prison rape is the wrong thing to do.

Nick shouldn't be in jail. He has some issues that need to be worked out in therapy. He is an extreme risk-taker and I don't think he can really help his compulsion. Sending him to prison won't solve anything. Psychiatric care would better suit him.

Suicidal Writer: He is an extreme risk-taker

Most 17 year olds take extreme risks, however most 17 year olds don't have parents who give them street legal race cars.

Holy crap. Either you suffer from impulse control issues, and can't stop yourself from trolling every thread, or you really will jump on any bleeding heart cause out there.

Either way, 2/10.

And I also dont get what the article means by "the other 56 juveniles have not been convicted yet and are awaiting trial." What other 56 juveniles? Are these the first juvenile offenders this county has ever had? Where do they normally send the juveniles?

Really Nick deserves some sympathy from us, I mean really who here hasn't taken some risks when they were kids. Who among us is not guilty of poor decision making while we were young. And really when you combine that natural inclination of risk taking while being young with the drunk celeb status and money that his family have it is a recipe for disaster.

We can only hope that Nick escapes from prison unscratched and hopefully can find help through a therapist to solve this issues he so obviously has and cannot control as they were placed on him through no fault of his own.

Why do we snide him for a burden he carries, a burden he chose not to pick up?

He'll be doing that so he can afford someone to drive him around. His racing career has proven that he cannot drive at all.

i think the whole family is a bunch of douchebags, but whatever. they segregated tommy lee, too. and high profile criminals, because lots of inmates want to get at them, because they know it would be a big deal. Scott Peterson, for example.

i don't ever want to go to prison. and i'm not famous.

He better hope they have rogaine in prison... he's definitely the hulkster's kid.

Why's he in an adult facility anyhow? I wonder if he's THERE because he's a "celebrity" but in the medical unit because he's the only juvenile in the facility.

/Or are there no juvenile facilities in Florida?

This asshat deserves jail time and he's lucky he only got eight months. I watched the trial and when the kid who's probably going to be in the vegetable garden for life's family spoke it was pretty tough. I have no sympathy for a spoiled rich kid who thinks money will buy them out of any trouble they can get in.
