Outshined: Weirder

Well, some of those strings actually are sympathic strings, so that does not actually count.

Reminds me of that joke about the six peckered billy goat in a herd of nannies.

/Six peckers? About as useful as six necks on a guitar.

I will be impressed when he replicates the instrument from "Resonant Chamber" in Animusic 2.

Wow, are you sure you're compensating enough...?

Strange.

Ooh.

Well, sir, I know Rick Nielsen, and I've watched him play HIS five-necked guitar/bass combo.

You may appear to be happy with six necks, but sir...?

You sir are NO Rick Neilsen.

(cue pic of Dan Quayle nodding, approving)

Seriously, what's the point? I can see the double-neck as it has a twelve string and a six string...handy if you're playing songs that require both at some point...but 6 necks? It's a gimmick.

How about you just get a Strat, a Tele or a LP and play the damn thing and stop trying to be "eccentric" or "that crazy guitar player". Be remembered for your actual playing, not for some weird instrument. Look at Rick Neilsen now...he's an excellent guitarist, but everyone here is basically referring to him as "that dork from Cheap Trick".

2008-05-09 08:37:14 AM
That's a pretty original name.

It LOOKS like the only person who'd be able to reach the last three necks is Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four.
Yes, I'm a douche for the FF sub reference.

You, actually the closest shave I've ever gotten was with my dad's old single-blade (two-sided blades) reloadable. Of course, if you make the slightest mistake, you'll peel half your face off...

Why do I get the feeling that that metaphor extends itself to this guitar? Sure you can look special, but if you *actually* know what you're doing, all you need is one, and everything else is just posturing...

MAB is so Nigel Tufnel. It's hilarious. He has skills for sure but they just don't interest me at all.

And the Beast is just stupid.

I saw that dude play live at Great Adventure. For all of you outside of NJ, that is the Six Flags amusement park that resides in NJ. Anyway... Yeah, Rick Nielson has a lot of misc. guitars. So many to a point that he would swap guitars 6 times during one song. I think he played at least 740 guitars in that one show alone.

The only really amusing thing he brought out was a guitar named "Uncle Richard". That one was a cartoon of himself, where the dual necks were his legs. That made me chuckle.

//Got nuthin else.

I used to switch off between mandolin/telecaster in my old psychobilly band.

I really wanted the old Kramer doubleneck mando-tele but could never find it for sale, only found images of it online. Maybe it was Carvin that made it.

//i still want it

just kiddin mate.
I think Rick is a hoot, at very least Cheap Trick made it okay to have fun with the 'status quo" of rock and roll at the time.
Rick and Bun E's contrast to Standard Hair Band looks was refreshin'.

and if you search for my name on the interwebs, you meet fairly renowned 'stick player(who is not me).
