The Knicks require alot more help than just a new coach. They need an attitude adjustment more than anything. They need a GM who is going to go out and overhaul their entire roster. I grew up in a house with parents who loved the Knicks so I am hoping they can get back on their feet, for my fathers sake.

Is Spud Webb busy or something?

Between the Knicks willing to overpay D'Antoni about 3M a year so the Bulls can't compete for him, and the Mavs hiring the laughable Carlisle, I'm beginning to think that NBA teams just wing it every year.

Z-Bo and Eddie Curry are too slow... then again they play no defense, so that part would work.

It doesn't matter if he ends up in NY or Chi - both rosters need to be blown up.

It pains me to say this (not that I want him as the Bulls coach necessarily) - but he would be smarter to go to NY. I have more faith in Donnie Walsh than Pax.

At least they'd be able to lose in the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to destroy his reputation for being a successful regular season coach, too.

57 win/season average ain't bad at all.

He sounds good to me, but then again, after Isiah I feel like every coaching candidate available is Red Auerbach.

I anticipate that Mike will be smarter than this.

Considering how miserably Larry Brown failed, I don't see any head coach causing a significant turn around in New York.

The Knicks need to be gutted and dumped like a dead fish. Unfortunately the only person dumb enough to take on any of their contracts isn't a GM anymore.

As much as I loved him as a player, I think Steve Kerr might take his place as WTF GM

Why use a semicolon in the headline?

because a large colon would clearly be wrong?

Donnie Walsh by all accounts is a pretty smart guy, at the very least one would hope the days of giving $7 large a year to Malik Rose are gone. As far as dumping those contracts, they always have Chris Wallace down in Memphis to fleece.

D'Antoni and Knicks would be ag ood match. The Knicks will be a good team in a few years under Walsh and D'Antoni.

The knicks have some good young players. Some of their horrible contracts will be coming off the books soon. Who knows, maybe they will get the #1 draft pick and dump a few contracts and be a playoff team in the east next year.

Man oh man, my Suns are farked.

From what's been reported, it seems pretty clear that D'Antoni has no interest in coming back to the Suns. Buuuuuut, he's under contract for two more years at something like $8 million total.

And there's no way the franchise-destroyingly cheap ownership is going to fire him and force themselves to eat that $8 million. Nor is D'Antoni likely to quit and throw away that $8 million either.

So unless he can somehow land a job with New York or Chicago (or less likely, Toronto/Dallas/Atlanta) that pays more than $4 million/year, he'll probably come back to the Suns.

And so they'll be stuck with a coach who doesn't want to be there, working for an owner who's too much of a cheap chickenshiat to outright fire him.

What a trainwreck this is going to be.

Because subby is semi-illiterate?

To be fair, Kobe and the Lakers are doing pretty well now (though Kobe's obviously not a coach).

Are the Knicks still paying Allan Houston? Whatever happened to Frederic Weis?

The Knicks will trade for T.J. Ford, draft O.J. Mayo and be S.O. Luck next year.

I thought they already had 10 guards on the roster?

I believe Kurt Vonnegut when questioned by college students about when to use semicolons responded along the lines of "Never, semicolons are useless, they are the hermaphrodites of the English language."

/Agreed

I hope D'Antoni gets hired by the Knicks - keep him out of Chicago.
/Another team that needs to be broken and strewn to the four corners of the earth.
//Would Avery Johnson be that bad in Chicago?
