The video is pretty captivating, made me want one.

I'd have it right on the end of a micro-car headed for the college cheerleader shower room.

/so would you
//already got a ticket

Wow.

submitter: you're dead inside

That, or you're unburdened by the Y chromosome. ;)

I am actually dead inside but perked up a bit after looking at that.

Cool. Your very own personal UAV. Attach about 8oz of C-4 and a 4oz
encrypted RF detonator, and you can even have your very own VEOGM
(Video Enhanced Optic Guided Missile). You could do a lot of damage
with that... *hmmmmmmmm*

Too bad it's 2.4Ghz though. Way too much interference anywhere near
a city setting. If they'd go with a 5.8Ghz Digital or DECT 6.0,
then I'd be very interested in one for my/my son's planes.

I'm dead inside because my daddy didn't keep me off the pole...err wait, wrong topic. Ahem. Want!

Pretty cool, but save yourself some money.

Miniature Wireless Camera ^: $62
Video Goggles ^: $125
A decent R/C airplane ^ to mount it on: $280

and you still have 80 bucks left to buy fuel and beer.

2008-05-08 08:43:59 AM
Ooh....want.

2008-05-08 08:59:50 AM
Want! But HagarTheHorrible is probably right, you can do it cheaper.

2008-05-08 09:50:12 AM
pretty awesome...at $550.00 its a better buy than the R2-D2 HD projector...and the optimus maximus keyboard...

2008-05-08 09:52:16 AM
Cool. Why isn't the army

Oh, right. nevermind.

2008-05-08 09:56:47 AM
dude, sorry but that's gay. Because you have a sweet visor there but the only thing you'll display on it is an r/c plane ride??

Man, I'd watch seinfeld on it if I could. Or pay $150 extra for it to have a built in dvd player

imagine amateur or low budget video makers with that thing. there can now be aerial shots for even the lowest budget of films.

WANT WANT WANT.

Going to the beach in a month....topless beach flyovers for the WIN!

2008-05-08 10:35:47 AM
Well, I'm working on getting my private pilot's license, so I fly for reals. So... no, I'd rather do the real thing. I hope I'm not dead inside.

2008-05-08 10:38:36 AM
When I saw it involved model air planes I was instantly averse to it. However, once I saw it involved 1st person cam I knew it was a win situation. The obvious next step is to put guns in the wings and flew around shooting people and witnessing the horror in their eyes close range. Even the background music was perfect "Wako my airplane".

Whoops, wrong thread.

Damn tabbed browsing.

It looks like an awesome thing to play with but, with my coordination, I'd get the same visual effect from just throwing myself headfirst into the grass and into trees multiple times.

HagarTheHorrible: A decent R/C airplane ^ to mount it on: $280

Avistar? Old and busted. New hotness: Alpha 60.

A GWS Slow Stick with a brushless/lipo setup would work, as well.

Just don't sell to sex offenders, they could use it to look at kids and you wouldn't know it

On the other hand, could make it useful taking it to nude beaches to check out the naked chicks without drawing attention to yourself.

You've been able to get those for years now...

I don't really want to do the RC plane, it's cool, but I have no place to put that stuff. I thought the RC car was pretty damned sweet.

Huxley71: Well, I'm working on getting my private pilot's license, so I fly for reals. So... no, I'd rather do the real thing. I hope I'm not dead inside.

Hell no, that's awesome.

Wow, this could be immensely useful in search and rescue groups.
Imagine having maybe half a dozen small planes in the air looking for someone instead of just one or two normal helicopters. Probably cover more ground and use less fuel too.

I'm getting a bunch of all that good stuff in from china next week, I don't think the alpha 60 was part of the order though :(

You know I just had a better idea for that, 2 RC planes, head to head chicken fight in the air...when in normal plane that'd be crazy to do. Imagine the fun it'd be to watch (on camera) planes colliding in FPV

It's stuff like this that makes me sad... Sad to realize that, although I am 30, I have the brain of a 12 year old. I actually shed a tear while watching that and remembered back to the days of model rocketry and my Estes rocket with the 110 Camera in it.

HagarTheHorrible & DerPoopflinger:

A buddy and I tried putting together a similar system from low-cost wireless security camera kits, had very poor results. I'm wondering what's different about this one. We were able to get a clean frame every other second or so at a 3 (yes, three) foot distance between the tx and rx, after shutting down every other 2.4ghz system in the area. Tried a couple of other brands and types and it didn't improve much. Both of us are video engineers, and he's a HAM- it's not exactly new territory for us, and we were both really let down by how poorly the cheap stuff worked. That said, the pictures of this kit look very similar to the stuff we tried. What do you have that works?

I know an old retired guy that has two planes set up with video like this. He doesn't have goggles though, he uses a laptop. I sent him a link to this, I bet he has his own goggle set-up pretty soon.

Kinda makes me want to get back into R/C...I have a gas powered truck sitting at my folks home.

By now, most likely needs a new engine.
