"One student told us he films his own adult movies in his dorm room all the time," Cox said. "These things happen on your campus whether we are involved or not."

You know mom and dad are so happy they pay for that education.

IU has its own police force? No wonder it costs so much to go to school down there.

2002-11-19 09:23:40 AM
Most larger universities have their own police force, Chick3_16. It's cheaper than just paying for "security", and better than phoning the city police every time there's a fire extinguisher war in the dorms.

Hey, if they're "of age", and consent, I don't see the big deal for the kids. The difficult thing is the representation of the school. The school can't go after Shane Enterprises, though. They'd be justified in throwing out the kids, of course.

If it were filmed in Forest quad, then I'd buy it.

while waiting for the link to be restored, why not enjoy a Mr.PiBB® soda? Like the women at IU, it "goes down good".

I think every college/university has a police force of some kind. Its nice though, you do something stupid they usually just deal with it on campus so they can fine you nd pick up the 50, 100, or even 150$ fine, if a college gets to squeeze more money out of you they usually take it.

1) The IDS server has always been weak.
2) Not only do they have their own police force, it is an academy for the state police.
3) Damn I graduated from there too early. Me and some friends had the idea my second senior year to make a pr0n site called "The Girls of IU."

I hear ya B0rg9. My alma mater gets into the news and it has to be for this? But who reads the IDS anyway?

But who reads the IDS anyway

Um, I do, but mainly just to check up on the basketball team. And sometimes I wanna make sure McNutt and Briscoe are still up to their old ways by reading the Blotter. ;-)

Thanks FarkingBoiler, your link works.

McKaig said he had received calls from some students who were concerned the filming scandal might tarnish their degree even though they were not involved.

That's like saying your degree from Michigan is tarnished because of the basketball booster scandal or your degree from Alabama is tarnished because of the football team.

Sounds like setting up the university for a lawsuit if they don't get a job right away after graduating.

IMHO, I think if Bobby Knight hasn't tarnished that school's reputation, nothing will. Ah ha ha ha ha ha!!!

I realize that most straight males reading this story will immediately think that it's tailor-made for something like Penthouse Forum, but I can't help but wonder how the student recipients might feel after it really sinks in just where those pro pr0n star mouths have really been. Shudder.....

"Cox said Shane Enterprises solicited campus groups from greek organizations to clubs to take part in the filming three weeks prior to their four-day visit."

LOL I first read that as "geek organizations" etc thinking it was the chess club and alike, lol the article sounds a lot different reading from that perspective.

2002-11-19 10:13:37 AM
"IUPD Sgt. Tim Lewis said the investigation still needs to be viewed by several University officials."

In other words: "We want to watch the movie too! Where's our free copy?"

The admin officials are mad because they didn't get invited to participate.

2002-11-19 10:28:59 AM
You know, as I look at my window right now I can see Teter. Now, I can sit at home and have my own film showing my view from my office....with some slight additions to the scenery.

"greek organizations?" "greek involvement?"

Those dirty greeks, sullying our clean white boys! The nerve!

I already made an angry "I'm offended by this" comment.. not because of the porn itself but the standard it set for the university...... think of the way some of the kids feel who lived in the dorm where this happened.

2002-11-19 11:15:43 AM
I saw it all fellas. I live in teter, and am a resident on floor 3.Some would even say I'm the guy smackin the porn stars on the ass, but I dont wanna make that claim for fear of being kicked outa school.

2002-11-19 11:17:17 AM
VeggieGuy: Maybe they should set aside a Puritan Dorm then. However, from spending a great deal of my time here at IU, I would say that it would be a fairly empty dorm building. Sex? At college? Dear lord no! :P Any time you get over 30,000 18-22 year olds together, plus several thousand more twisted grad students together, there is going to be a load of sex. Except maybe at Oral Roberts U. Of course, with a name like that, maybe that's where the porn stars should have went. That or B.J.U.

2002-11-19 11:18:29 AM
LOL everytime the ids website is on fark it gets farked. If someone would ever want the ids to fail (I dunno why), all they would have to do is post a link on fark every day.

Stephan said Shane Enterprises is using calculated tactics to exploit students and the University for financial gain.

Thats the school's job.

I'm just saying that, as a student at a fellow Big 10 party school, if there were a bunch of porn stars having sex with people on my floor in the hallway, I would be really offended -- and I'm not the only one.

People should be allowed to have sex, but the sex should not be in hallways. Sex should be allowed, sure, but with perhaps a little privacy.

I think you're free to do what you want, but the university has an interest in making their dorms a comfortable place to live, and when you see some topless porn star giving a hummer to that one asshole on your floor, it gives everyone in the dorm who isn't into partying a complete feeling of discomfort.

2002-11-19 11:32:13 AM
I probably shouldn't be, but I am surprised that so many of us farkers are IU students/alums/grad students. And that we actually admit it!

I'm very glad to be a member of the grad student set - I would have been so humiliated to be associated with this school as an undergrad. Between the porn, the riots, Bobby Knight and the drunk drivers and overwhelming stupidity of most of the IU undergrad population. . . well, let's just say I'm going to make it very clear to anyone I meet that I got my PhD from a prestigious department here, and avoided the rest.

From here, I get to float above it all and laugh at the stupids below :-)

2002-11-19 11:41:50 AM
VeggieGuy: Then maybe the university should seriously look into offering dorms for those who are offended by certain things. Not that they could word it like that, but something a little more PC. Maybe a dorm for those who are Christians, a quiet dorm for those who do not want their studies interrupted (by such things as sex and partying), so on and so forth. IU already has FIGS (a groups associated dorm living program), maybe it should just be expanded. Granted, people having sex in the hall is bound to offend someone, so they should probably take it to the room just to keep from the inevitable offense being taken. However, I have found that people that get offended often seem to actually seek out being offended. It sometimes makes life more humorous for those of us who are nearly impossible to offend (by watching people get all huffy about things that we don't take nearly so seriously). Often times it just makes life more boring as one has to watch every word one says as not to offend anyone who might sue or try to have one fired over the offense. Therefore, I'm all for segregating the easily offended from the not-so-easily-offended whenever possible.

However, going to a giant big ten public university, one must just assume that one is going to run into some partying and sex in one's time on campus. If one wants to avoid such things completely, one might want to consider a small private college.

I leave IU and they go to the NCAA Championship game, get named Best Party School, and shoot porn in the dorms. Damn.

I did see Flavor Flav in Briscoe once, as he was reportedly bangin some broad there, so I got that going for me.

Sheez, the media has a short attention span.

This has all been done before, kids.

A degree from Michigan is tarnished right out of the box. GO BUCKS!

I can see it now, as my Boilermakers pummel IU this weekend their students will probably be holding up signs saying, “At least we have porn!”

Here's a story of Seymore Butts doing the same thing in a Elmont NY firehouse a few years ago. Article is long but just do a find for "Elmont". His girlfriend at the time was Shane. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Why do you get the impression that I'm a farking puritan just because I don't want to see people having sex in a public place?

I'm simply saying that the university needs has an interest in looking out for the safety and comfort of the people who live in their dorms.

You can do whatever you want in your dorm room, but close your farking door if you're going to have sex. That's all I'm saying.

I'm sure IU has some rules in place for their dorms, in terms of student conduct within. That's why RAs and that sort of thing are there.

If you want to act like a jackass and not follow the rules that are clearly on the books, move off-campus. Don't say that because people have different standards than you that they should just go away. It doesn't work like that. The administration of any big university is out to protect the wide interest, not your specific interest, especially if it doesn't equate.

I've run into partying and that sort of thing (and even partaken in some back when I was a youngin'), but it's mostly been off-campus, and that's where it should stay.

2002-11-19 01:08:44 PM
Glave27: That firehouse is only a mile from where I live. No wonder why they never have trouble recruiting volunteers...

"But IU-Bloomington Chancellor Sharon Brehm said Shane Enterprises was here to exploit IU students."

I know, that's the university's job! Someone wrote a really insightful letter to the editor of the IDS that said something to the effect of why the school is so wonderfully proud of the kinsey institute and their porn collection, but when it's filmed in a dorm it's exploitative trash.

I'm jsut suprised that it happened in Teter and not over here in McNutt =b

The real shocker would be Collins pr0n. I would not touch most of thsoe residents on the main quad with a ten food organic hemp vegan pole.
