UnFark: The death's head he wore on his hat wasn't even from his regiment, he just liked the look. Die Fuhrer was also at the front row of his funereal.

I'll give him this -- it's a good look.

Ow My Balls: My wife's mother did some geneology research and discovered they're direct descendants of one of the executed Salem Witches. I can't remember offhand her name, but I remember it being a short one.

Hah, one of my ancestors in England was burned at the stake as a witch.

kidsizedcoffin: My sarcasm meter is busted, isn't most of iraq under sharia law? The only exceptions being the US/UN controlled zones?

Please.

Yes, most of Iraq is subject to more religious-police type activity (which did not happen under Saddam), but there's not even enough law there to be under a law. Mostly it's vigilante stuff like murdering women who don't wear head scarves. That's not "Sharia law", that's just vigilantism.

I don't know anything about my ancestors. I'm not even sure what my grandparents' full names were, or where they came from.

Mongrel Americans--I think that's most of us.

I'm guessing that you also don't pay much attention to history. Ever heard Santayana's quote "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"? I think that you should begin with your personal history. We are not just mongrel Americans. The lives that our ancestors lived helped make us who we are. Both as a nation and individually.

The only thing keeping people from Godwinning their family tree is the obscurity of Hitler's lineage.

Genealogy looks like a forest, but there is only one tree, like that Aspen grove in Colorado where hundreds of "trees" are genetically identical and have all grown from a single network of roots.

Absolutely no evidence this is true. History is filled with the memory of wars and guess what? We still have wars. It's one of those quotes that sounds good until you realize it's horse puckey.

devildog123: Corn_Fed: One day, some woman will research her long-dead grandfather, and be horrified that he was a conservative Republican Bush supporter who agreed with the Iraq War.

I wonder, after November, or, I should say January of 2009, when the Democrats control both houses of congress by even bigger margins, and when you have a Democratic president, and NOTHING really changes, who are you farking lunatics going to blame then?

I'm a Libertarian, so I get to laugh at both of the major parties, but don't you people have anything better to do than try to bring Bush bashing/I hate Republican posts into every single farking thread? Especially a thread about a woman in in another farking country.

Excen, don't think you are getting a free pass either. While I can't stand hippies, I think even idiots like Corn_Fed will admit that they aren't fans of Sharia law. You all need to lighten up.

What about those people who don't have a party affiliation and are equally disgusted by the subset of idiots that thinks since they don't have a major party affiliation that they get a free pass to point and laugh while the world goes to hell in a handbasket around them?

That's what makes you a jackass, you jackass. You clearly aren't part of the solution, making you either part of the problem or part of the precipitate. So take your smug, smarmy, elitist sense of self superiority, go sit on it in your bedroom and get off on being better than the rest of your country.

"Corn_Fed: One day, some woman will research her long-dead grandfather, and be horrified that he was a conservative Republican Bush supporter who agreed with the Iraq War."

Baloney. When anyone's grandfather is long-dead, their descendants won't have a clue who George Bush was, or when (or even THAT) the Iraq war happened. Go out on the street and ask the first 100 people you meet who was president during WWI. Forget Woodrow Wilson, most will melt down over the larger concept...."uhhh....there was a world war? A first one? What happened to the second one?"

My Great5 Grandfather on my mother's side came from Germany and settled Paint Township just outside of Johnstown, PA in 1763. All of my ancestors are farmers. All the "cool" relatives are on my dad's mother's side. Ancestry.com is da shizzle forizzle

I stopped looking up people on the internet when I decided to Google an ex-girlfriend. I didn't find her but I did find some postings on a swingers mailing list that her mom had sent out while using my ex's email account. Don't get excited, she wasn't a MILF at all. In fact, I'm surprised this woman could get one person to have sex with her, let alone a group that would.

Small world :) Yea my family also made the big trek across the desert from Illinois and settled SLC. I think my grandma still has a plat map showing the orignal owners of the land from back then. My gramps lived 4 houses away from Brigham Young IIRC.
