I think that you should begin with your personal history. We are not just mongrel Americans. The lives that our ancestors lived helped make us who we are. Both as a nation and individually.

My Great⁵ Grandfather on my mother's side came from Germany and settled Paint Township just outside of Johnstown, PA in 1763. All of my ancestors are farmers. All the "cool" relatives are on my dad's mother's side. Ancestry.com is da shizzle forizzle

Small world :) Yea my family also made the big trek across the desert from Illinois and settled SLC. I think my grandma still has a plat map showing the orignal owners of the land from back then. My gramps lived 4 houses away from Brigham Young IIRC.
