Same engine as GTA4. Which is cool because the procedural animations in GTA4 are awesome.

Euphoria
is the "same engine" used in GTA IV. Euphoria is an artificial intelligence engine, not a graphics engine.

GTAV: Coruscant City

Yeah I can kinda see that, jacking someones landspeeder and doing drive by lightsabre-ings.

I was under the impression that it was like moose and deer. Same in the singular as in the plural.

I thought you only played Vader's apprentice.

2008-05-05 06:58:32 AM
You could get a Darth Vader model/skin for the Jedi Knight games, load up on the dark force powers, and even dual online with a bunch of Windu-wannabes with a double light saber.

This one looks better though.

Single-player only games may be dead for the PC.

OK, they are porting it to the DS but no PC version? Lame.

It may be a small improvement, but even the most brain-dead real opponent is more of a challenge than any AI.

Looks dumb. Haven't we moved past collecting glowing spheres after killing people? Ugh. Didn't people buy these systems so they didn't look like videogames anymore?

Ermm, SW:FU is going to rape GTA4 in terms of the engines used. They have an insane physics engine coupled with a molecular engine.

Euphoria + DMM (Digital Molecular Matter -- Pixelux Entertainment) = Win.

You can kill Jedi as Vader on Battlefront II, or hunt Gungans as a Super Battledroid. This looks a little better though.

People with this attitude piss the hell out of me.

It's a game, man. Not a simulation. It's supposed to be fun. Why the hell does it matter what it looks like? If it is fun and you enjoy playing it, do it. If it looks unfun, don't. If collecting glowing spheres after victory is unfun for you, play something else, but don't biatch because a game is unrealistic.

/ Bet you're one of those farkers who insists on using real money in Monopoly, too...

Aren't the LEGO versions of videogames just a silly excuse for bad graphics?

Guess you haven't been playing PC games for long. They go in fads. Right now, the fad is for MMORPG's, but since Blizzard has effectively taken over that market, and the FPS market is again saturated, so we're going to see a nice resurgence of something else.
There's been a number of Western-style RPG's coming out lately that have been largely under the radar for the PC in the last bit, though I suspect the resurgence will be in something else. I also suspect Spore will sadly kill itself with its Web2.0-like added content concept.
/ Some new 4x games would be nice. Ascendancy 2, anyone?

No they are a silly excuse for being awesome.

And first look? This game was announced like a year ago.

No, they are really quite fun and have a great sense of humor.

They also rock for Co-Op play with your kids as well.

Yup, Space Ships, Glowing Laser Swords, Laser Guns, The Force.... The glowing orbs is what makes this game not like real life.

It's gonna be a fun game, but its a game. Go back down to your mom's basement and play WOW.

Subby:First look at new "Star Wars" video game, in which you finally get to play as Darth Vader and slice up a bunch of pansy Jedis

So by first look you meant the same old crap I've been seeing about this game for the past year?

2008-05-05 09:58:12 AM
It's painful to watch developers who have worked to pump out a next-gen game for 360 and PS3 try to backtrack and talk about how good the crappy versions will be. It's doubly painful to see them try to cram the word 'Unleashed' in as many times as possible.

On the plus side, I now have a new criterion to add to my list of 'things that instantly tell me I don't want to have a conversation with someone': They use 'SKU' (pronounced 'skew') like a word.

I recall slashing up Jedi in Star Wars Battlefront II, by playing as Vader.

Although Mace Windu and Obi Wan were the best players in the game. Could get 80 kills in a row with Obi on Mustafar.

I take it we haven't seen the write up previews in numerous game magazines and the week long focus on X-Play or any number of website articles that feature preview information or gameplay footage, etc..

So, yeah sure, it's new because you just found it.

Single-player can be pretty fun. No n00bs, no sniper-rifle-whores, no "lol ura fag", no "omg hax!"

I'm sick of people complaining about lack of multiplayer. I DON'T WANT Multiplayer, fark you very much. If I want Multiplayer I break out Pandemic, Twilight Imperium, Carcassonne, Citadels, Last Night on Earth, Race for the Galaxy, or any number of games I've got.

2008-05-05 11:17:58 AM
I love how the Lucasarts guys have been making a big deal about the Euphoria engine, like it was the main selling point of the game. Then GTAIV comes out months before it like "Oh yeah, we got that Euphoria thing too."

So Darth Vader had a secret apprentice that was so powerful in the force he could rip a Star Destroyer out of the sky and no one ever mentioned him? I hate this ret-con BS. They should just bring back Kyle Katarn.

OK, I didn't read the whole article, but will the Wii version have the same "advanced" engines (in terms of AI, physics, etc., I know the graphics won't be as great) as the PS3/360 versions?

I'm trying to decide whether to go with the saber-swinging Wii version or the high-octane PS3 version. I don't really care so much about the graphics, but the advanced physics in GTA4 have really taken the game to a new level, so if the Wii doesn't have that it may be a tough choice.

I still have mine, and still enjoy tossing in MSG3 or The Warriors every once in a while.

/had that big ugly brick for almost 5 years now
//Best $90 I ever spent
///TV, Two Games (Prince of Persia: SoT and MGS2), a memory card, two controllers, and the PS2 itself = $90 Pawn Shop Special
//Still have all of those items, in perfect working order, to this day

The Wii will not have all the fancy game engines or graphics capabilites, and I'm not sure how well the lightsaber attacks will work with the Wiimote. I'd just get it for the PS3 (360 in my case).
