What the hell is MovieJuice?

2002-11-17 12:58:24 AM
I'm confused on why this is any different from the 10000 other movie review sites that reviews 8 miles... its not particulary funny, witty, or religiously crazy

2002-11-17 12:58:27 AM
Great! Is Fark going to post every review of 8 Mile?

I don't get it. Rap is just soooo '80s.

2002-11-17 01:00:33 AM
Eminem is just so gay, yo.

2002-11-17 01:02:03 AM
it's sort of suspicious that a site no one has ever heard of and that has (barely if even) ever had a link posted on fark has its own spiffy little logo rectangle. hmmm....

2002-11-17 01:04:22 AM
Anyone else getting the feeling that fark has been abandoned and left in the hands of malevolent goblins?

2002-11-17 01:04:38 AM
Here's my review- Go watch Krush Groove. RunDMC makes Eminem look like the poser that he is. Why couldn't that guy have shot Eminem instead of JamMasterJay.

Young_Fart

Heh, you offended by something Eminem said?

I laugh at you.

2002-11-17 01:05:57 AM
Isn't 8-mile just a male version of Glitter?

2002-11-17 01:06:10 AM
some loser movie rewiew site? no thanks. i pass.

2002-11-17 01:07:09 AM
Rap is so passe...

come on everybody, lets move into the twenty first century and start listening to some good new music like VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, and Assemblage 23... and not this old played out white rapper rehash.

2002-11-17 01:11:33 AM
I can summarize 8 Mile in one word:

Overrated

2002-11-17 01:15:04 AM
Rap is Passe?!?! Huh? I could have sworn that crappy techno went out of style years ago. Good, new, music. Haha! Buy a Radiohead album.

Ahhh yes, excellent choices.

Radiohead? Radiohead is for old farks who need to wear undergarments to keep from pissing and shiatting themselves. And yeah Rap is played out. 99% of rap song can be summed up in one of the following four categories.

1. I'm a bad ass check me out and suck my dick
2. We are getting all farked up on <insert intoxicant>
3. You better respect me or I am gonna kick your punk ass
4. Look at me, Look at me, Look at me!

Its all the same crap... and is way over hyped.

2002-11-17 01:25:27 AM
Radiohead can lick my foamytesticles. All you people hating on Eminem are just jealous.

2002-11-17 01:28:34 AM
Your favorite band sucks.

2002-11-17 01:28:50 AM
Code_Archaeologist- It's kind of hard to be a bad ass when you listen to techno. If I didn't have any talent or originality, i'd make music that uses the same recycled beats and cheesy sound FX. Listen to a Flaming Lips album. None of those bands have done a fraction of the drugs it requires to make a Flaming Lips song.

2002-11-17 01:28:58 AM
Foamytesticles jealous of what? The person to be jealous of is Dr. Dre who is making all the cash from his over hyped pet white boy. And when the din finally dies down the Doctor will have somebody else to hype all the hell and Eminem will fall be forgotten in the dust heap of history like Vanilla Ice, Menudo, and Boyz 2 Men.

2002-11-17 01:32:26 AM
heh. it's kinda funny to hear people who like rap music sneer at techno for using "recycled beats" to make music. Every single rap song my roommate listens to goes like this:

bass - bass - snare
bass - bass - snare

underneath some guy talking about how long his yacht is and how many platinum teeth he has.

...and you obviously know little about it if you think that's all there is to it.

But thats fair enough, if you dont like something you're hardly going to have reason to go out and find good examples of it.

2002-11-17 01:33:17 AM
TheMassiveCockKid were you trying to make a point? Or are you saying that for a musician to be truly talented they have to take enough drugs to scrable their chromosomes so bad that they barely rank as human any longer? Right... take another bong hit and stare at the black light on your front porch for a few hours.

2002-11-17 01:33:52 AM

It's Rap!!!

Foamytesticles
Not jealous. Just sick of hearing this nuevo riche cocksmoker whine about how bad his life is when the simple fact is the kid makes idiot decisions.

Yeah, Eminem is good at putting words together, but the final product, the theme, the message, really is lacking.

2002-11-17 01:47:51 AM
Kurt Roges: you're roommate listens to bad rap. not all rap is the same. Listen to old school hip-hop(ex. sugarhill gang). tell me those beats sound like everything you hear today. also, rap isn't about necessarily about the beats. it's about the rhymes and the lyrics(ex. NWA and RunDMC).
Code Archaeologist: you were really reaching for an insult on that one. i was just saying that The Flaming Lips make far more innovative music than anything you listen to has to offer.

2002-11-17 01:47:53 AM
Without getting into my distaste for Eminem and the complete and utter lack of any desire to see this movie, this was the stupidest review I've ever read - and I don't mean stupid as in good, I mean stupid as in retarded, idiotic, moronic and just plain...stupid.

How the fark did this end up as a news story here? Who at this ridiculously named "Movie Juice" is blowing Drew?

2002-11-17 01:48:48 AM
Hey, Mark at MovieJuice is a cool, funny guy. Check out his archives. He's usually spot-on.

Don't be dissin' the "juice", Yo.

2002-11-17 02:10:02 AM
These flame wars are incredibly stupid. Music is the most subjective of all art forms, by far. Can we just let each person dig their own thing?

btw eminem sucks big donkey balls.

2002-11-17 02:10:50 AM
ahh...skip it,it was okay but I'd rather have seen it without all the goofs in the theatre talking and laughing.

I dig Movie Juice, too. I used to read it many moons ago, but I kinda forgot about it when I stopped reading movie reviews. Good to see it's still kicking as it usually has pretty funny stuff.

2002-11-17 02:19:59 AM
Saw the movie this weekend. Well made. Other than that, nothing special, but humorous at times, altogether not bad. As a movie, that is. As for Em, I think he has brilliant talent as a lyricist, but I could care less about his views or beliefs, just doesn't affect me. Anyway, I agree with QuithEx on the note that music tastes are entirely subjective, so we might as well not bother arguing, not that it'll stop you. Oh well, carry on with your flame-war. I will have no part, because my bed is calling my name. Laters.

Did anyone give Glitter a good review? I've seen a lot of them for 8 Mile.

2002-11-17 02:33:53 AM
i love Radiohead and i like techno, but i dislike most rap that isn't old school east coast.

Puffy999 - You'll shiat yourself when you see this (I did): Glitter: 4 and half stars average based on 232 reviews.

OK OK OK OK, we get it, some farkers LOVES 8 Mile

now PLEASE, stop with the 8 Mile reviews

M&M meet Akbar

er 3 and a half.

still too good

2002-11-17 02:43:54 AM
after reading the review, I have some to this conclusion:

The reviewer hasn't seen the movie.

everything in there is

1) stuff about the writer

or

2) stuff you could pull from other reviews of the movie

me say: busted

They're called plants, hired by the studio that made the film in a desperate attempt to recoup some of their losses on that flaming pile of shiat of a movie. Either that or they're from the midwest, hence their complete and utter lack of taste.

2002-11-17 02:48:10 AM
please dont confuse all urban music as "rap"
there is rap (which isnt so popular amongst the urban crowd these days) and theres Hip-Hop and R&B.

Edipis all the old school east coast "rap" is hip-hop :) thats why u liked/like it :)

2002-11-17 02:49:27 AM
Nah, there is too many for them all to be corporate shills. I'm going to agree with you and say that most of the reviewers are idiots and trash. I say this because they gave Battlefield Earth 2 and a half farking stars! That movie deserves atleast a 4. Who do we I have to kill to get a decent review around here?

2002-11-17 02:50:32 AM
whoops, drop that "we." There is no "we," only "I." send help

2002-11-17 02:59:30 AM
FifthColumn: I am suprised you left out the obligatory slow motion rim shot.

2002-11-17 03:01:22 AM
HipHop is a clever word used to expand the rap world to white kids. C'mon do you think they got "bling" selling to a percentage of only 12% of our nation? I think not.

Its a conspiracy!
