The 65-pound block, which is placed on a wooden pallet on the frozen surface of the pond and tied to an alarm clock on shore each winter in a $1-per-chance guessing game, plunged into the water at 5:25 p.m. Friday.

Thank you. I woke up this morning to my four-year-old excitedly claiming we could make snowmen this morning. I thought it was a little weird even for him, then I looked outside at the heavy snow falling. This is just north of Appleton.

I cut the lawn yesterday for the first time this year, and it snows this morning. WTF is wrong with this state?

Not just yours. MN, too.

Seriously, a high of 45 degrees on April 28 is just plain bullshiat.

You can do all kinds of cool things with an old AC powered alarm clock with hands. Use it to check for power outages. Hook it to your electric water heater to see how much it runs during the day. Possibilities are endless.................................................................

Spread the weight. If not, a heavy cinderblock would "press" it's way through the ice, even on below freezing days.

Not fully, but close to it. The last 15 years seem to have gotten steadily worse. Or maybe people are just getting more obnoxious. Or maybe I'm just getting older, cantankerous and bitter, bitter that I'm not riding around in a Mercedes ML350 with daddy's credit card in my wallet and a tampon in my ear.

Do it. I had the same attitude, although I was reading them slowly and thinking "I'll get around to finishing Sandman one of these days", and then one week last month I just decided to go for it and bought and read the last three graphic novels in one fell swoop. It's absolutely brilliant.
