Is it possible to pick Nebraska's entire starting defense with one pick?

BilltheThrill: Is it possible to pick Nebraska's entire starting defense with one pick?

You mean the last-place Nebraska defense that gave up more PPG and YPG than anyone in the Big 12?

I'm hoping for Adam Tafralis. Good guy, former discus thrower, qualities I like.

49ers just picked, now I'm done with the draft

I'm just excited that the Ravens picked Joe Flacco yesterday. Go UD and go Ravens!

Chiefs just took Jamaal Charles, keep knocking 'em out of the park Chiefs!!

I am not sure, but I know it will be one of the Falcons picks.

I love how they did a nice montage of Mel getting it right six times in 20 years.

2008-04-27 11:23:54 AM
Carolina and KC are having good drafts. Connor in the 3rd is a damn steal.

2008-04-27 11:24:06 AM
All the Jags needed was a pass rush. Mission accomplished.

You also got Ray Rice. If the Ravens have a good o-line, look out.

uh oh, patriots take a qb in round 3. tom brady is on his way out!!1!

You know, reading the Rivals draft report, you'd think every player selected is a guaranteed future pro-bowler.

2008-04-27 12:07:11 PM
Everyone that the Bears draft because they will not get a QB.

2008-04-27 12:10:14 PM
The Chiefs seem to be employing the Southern Strategy.

LSU
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Texas
Tennessee
North Carolina State

All I have to say is that the SEC better live up to the hype.

Danny Woodhead, RB out of Chadron State (D2) that holds the all-division NCAA record for career yardage (+7k yds)

ESPN is interviewing him now.

And after taking Ray Rice, it's possible they'll even be able to keep him alive through the season! Between Rice and Willis, oughta be able to keep the pressure off at least a bit. The O-line is young but getting there and spent last year learning from the best in Ogden. Maybe this year we'll finally have a good offense!

You know, I wonder why we haven't been hearing more about Xavier Omon out of Northwest Missouri State (D2 as well). He rushed for 1500+ yards all four years. He's got the size and the talent to make it, but he seems to be off the radar.

I'm pretty surprised the Giants haven't done a Shockey trade yet.

For what does a team receive a "compensatory" selection?

2008-04-27 02:37:24 PM
Kiribub: For what does a team receive a "compensatory" selection?

It can come via a trade for a player previously dealt who failed to meet certain performance standards as part of the new team.
They are also awarded when teams sign free agents away from other teams.

Groovy, thanks.

Anyone know anything about Matt Slater, and why New England would try to move up to get him?

2008-04-27 02:40:59 PM
Kiribub: I read that as "Conditional" draft pick.
Sorry.

A compensatory pick is awarded by the league to teams who lost more free agents than they signed. Compensation is in the form of extra draft picks added to the end of rounds three through seven. The quantity of picks is equivalent to the difference of UFAs signed to UFAs lost. For example, if a team loses 4 UFAs and signs 1 UFA, they will receive three Compensatory Selections. The value of the picks is determined by the difference of the contracts signed by the players lost and those acquired. The highest possible compensatory pick is the 31st of the third round (91st overall).

Kiribub: For what does a team receive a "compensatory" selection?

They're handed out to teams who lost more players through unrestricted free agency the previous year than they signed. The higher value/contract of the player lost, the higher the round the comp pick comes...

they had a serious offer from the Saints, but it was for a second round pick, Reese said no

I hope Shockey STFU this year and gels right in

What the fark are the Colts doing?

/not drafting players I want
//In reality, I trust them.

www.internetisforzorn.com

From CNNSI's fark ripoff, "Extra Mustard", which heisted it from something called theinternetisforzorn.com

This is precious. I really could have used this yesterday.

I love the comment from "Ben": "This is fantastic, but there's one key omission: Berman saying "I have an odd feeling that the (team name) are going to go with (player name). Let's go to the Commissioner," who then announces the pick the Berman was fed in his earpiece. Jackass."

Pssst. The networks get the pick before it is announced.

No, this isn't a conspiracy theory. The networks get the pick after the team makes it, but before Goodell announces it, so that the network can have the player's graphic / video reel "immediately" available.

2008-04-27 03:26:44 PM
Why does ESPN keep listing Trent Green" as a key addition to the team this off season.
It's not like he's going to play.

Raiders took a CB?

don't we already have 2 of the better cb's in the game right now?

They were making Al Davis cranky.

What in God's name are the Packers doing? 2 QBs in the same draft with a guy who's going to be playing his first year? You COULD address other positions.

2008-04-27 05:27:29 PM
Is McFadden a valid option?

2008-04-27 06:05:40 PM
Awesome, I love the 7th round guys for Seattle.

2008-04-27 06:10:14 PM
fiegel07: Well, only two of those schools are in the SEC...

Yeah, and Lousiana, Texas, Virgina, Tennessee and North Carolina are all southern states, hence the Southern Strategy. Not to mention that the Chiefs have taken LSU grads as their first picks in the last two drafts. My point stands.

Ummmmmmm Why hasn't Chicago drafted a QB?

They still have two more picks, they can get someone even crappier than Alex Brink, who holds the ball even longer than Bledsoe.

David Vobora from Idaho is Mr. Irrelevant, but Indy wins the draft for getting both Mike Hart and the guy with my favorite name in the draft, Pierre Garcon.

I was upset my Seahawks didn't get him in the 5th, but I'm happy with Forsett in the 7th, too. Not to mention the best kicker in the draft.

Owen Schmidt is great, too, I don't see why the Lions had to take some random FB out of Furman instead of him. As for Hart, I guess the rich get richer, he's going to have a nice NFL career, especially paired up with Addai for now.
