Great move by Sheehan. Pelosi has done nothing to end Bush's Excellent Mesopotamian Adventure, so why shouldn't she get primaried?

Look at Cindy Sheehan. Cindy Sheehan, look at her.

I like Sheehan. She has a ton of fight in her. I'll take her over Pelosi any day of the week.

2008-04-26 02:25:29 AM
You know, I wanted to chide Sheehan but after reading the article, I'm not so inclined to disagree with her.

Too me, that fact that the Democrats will not impeach this administration is an absolute travesty. They are basically saying "It will be a lot of work that we don't really feel like doing." To me, this is the equivalent of finding out that someone in your household was murdered and the cops and detectives saying "Man, it will take forever to find out who did this. And we'd have to stop issuing as many traffic tickets. Sorry but this is a no go."

Why can't the Dems just hire some kind of independant council to investigate the Bush Admin? A Kenneth Starr for the Democrats? What am I missing here? Or in the words of Bill Maher:

"Can the Democrats please just grow one ball? Just one...."

I remember a protest here in SF during the summer where she got up on the stage at Dolores Park and started raging about something or another.

I remember vividly the Gyro booth. The message booth. The souvenir booth. The 'Che" Guevara t-shirts worn by every stupid cracker spawn in the crowd.

Yeah, that's funny. They were protesting the war by wearing t-shirts of a man known for using tanks as conflict resolution.

Now I'm a liberal. But these people are ignorant and bored.

Seriously... never thought I'd see that day.

That's like making Al Gore the leading scientist on fighting global warming just because he biatches about it a lot. He's not a scientist. She is definitely not a politician, or leader, or intelligent, or not a biatch.

2008-04-26 02:36:49 AM
I for one support this move. I would even vote for her. Let the entire country see how absolutely nutty, disorganized, and clueless these people (and particularly Sheehan) are on how to actually solve this situation.

Bush may show up with a knife to a gunfight intellectually, but Sheehan shows up with a balloon animal.

The investigations were started by Clinton himself and the Republicans were free to choose who investigated because they were in control of the House. The premise of the investigations were for alleged crimes before he was President. No crimes were ever found.

Essentially, Bush would have to choose to be investigated. Since he was a worthless Governor in Texas with no power at all... He's clean.

But I agree with you. Then DEMS have been little Nancy's when it comes to this FARK.

There was a time when she had point. But somewhere along the line she passed that point and headed straight into coo-coo bananas and broken clock right twice a day territory.

Interestingly enough, to impeach a president, you need more than just made up lies and anti-American anger. Bush has not done anything illegal. What would be your reason to impeach, really, you disagree with his policy?

And don't be a classic lib douche, if you say Bush lied, show evidence for cryin out loud.

Wow, that analogy sucks. The whole point is that the current administration is all but lame duck, and impeaching would be a long, pointless process that would do nothing but piss off republicans. So it's more like they found out who committed the murder, and he was already dead. Then they tell you that no charges would be pressed because his brother is a foreign dignitary who would be pissed, and that arresting a dead dude is retarded.

You win for Most Logical Fallacies in One "Sentence"!

Not a politician: If she wins an elected then she would be one. Every politician has to win their first election.
Not a leader: Voters would have to decide that
Not intelligent: Probably more intelligent than the average Farker
Not a biatch: Yeah, she is a biatch. I mean, why couldn't she just let go of the fact that her son died in a war that doesn't make sense. Why can't she just make nice for the camera and wave like a good comrade, I mean American.

Dear Stupid Members of the Left Wing including Sheehan,

Things are not simple. People on the right are morons and they played their "Impeachment" card. If we respond directly, it will create an ever-delving spiral of fighting in Washington. The villains are the republicans. Not people who are biding their time to respond when it will be effective instead of stupid. Try working with us. You'll find it more successful then "No nukes" or "PeTA rules" stickers, and infinitely more pleasurable when we take the right-wing spinheads and ram reality down their stinking gullets.

Getting on the ballot will be the easy part for Sheehan. If she becomes a recognized candidate, she'll be challenging one of the best-known and most powerful Democrats in the country in Pelosi, a 10-term incumbent who routinely collects around 80 percent of the vote in the San Francisco-only district.

There is something seriously wrong with politics when one of the safest Democrats in Congress is still a total pussy when it comes to opposing Bush and the Republicans.

Befuddled: If you don't live in that district, then what the hell are you whining about?

This.

Free speech for me, not for thee!

By going up against Pelosi, she's basically a third party candidate, so we're probably not going to see her in Congress. But yeah, if she can get supporters and everything that makes an election go, why not?

I was really excited when Nancy Pelosi became the first Madam Speaker. I truly thought that congress was finally going to start moving in a direction... ANY direction. I even understood that because congress is just barely over 50% Democrat, it would take more time and work to get things going. But she, and the Democratic-led Congress have been a complete and embarrassing failure.

/scared we're going to lose control of at least one branch of congress. Dems are just barely hanging on.
//let the crazy lady run against pelosi. it's her right to try. if she loses, fine. if she wins, she'll just be another un-influential freshman congressman.

No, they are basically saying "the country and market are in a trainwreck enough of a situation without us adding to it for a guy who's gone in a few months."

Also, Pelosi basically being in control of inserting herself as president almost guarantees that a republican wins the office again.

The most important part of what you said.

I like it when crazy people get in office. They tend to make things ineffective, and that is how I like my govt. What we have now is a government who does a "good job" of farking things up. I would rather nothing get done.

No, that's really not the end of the argument. Dems and various other anti-war people keep trying to keep it that simple when it's really not. The intelligence that Saddam Hussein was still working on WMDs was very credible and infact correct, however since under Clinton we basically whittled the CIA down to jack and shiat, we only had intelligence that had been around since the 90s. After Clinton bombed Saddam's WMD facilities, he surreptitiously gave up the program (apparently), but thanks to the fact that we had ZERO HUMINT people on the ground in Iraq, and we were supplied information from international intelligence agencies confirming this, George Bush legitimately thought Saddam Hussein had WMDs. This fits in with the Bush Doctrine.

George Bush ran on a platform of staying away from nation building. However after Sept. 11 it was decided that we had to do something to change the increasingly shiatty living situations and poisonous political culture of the Middle East. Add to that Saddam Hussein appeared to be working on WMDs from our standpoint, and was also possibly collaborating with terrorists.

While I agree that it was largely played up, it was not then considered an illegitimate rationale at ALL, but since WMDs were NOT found the hippies equivocate that to say "Bush lied!" when they have zero evidence of that being the case. It's farking stupid.

Ok that's fine by me. So the message seems to be "He's only in office for a short time, we'll wait until afterwards to inflict the wrath." But what is this 'plan' that the Democrats are biding their time for? I'm not asking out of snark, i'm asking out of seriousness because if there is a plan, I have not heard a single breath of it.

From what I heard two years ago, the newly elected Democratic Congress was supposed to be the cure-all for the Bush Administrations screw ups. I'm still waiting for that promise to go through.

2008-04-26 02:55:21 AM
I'm writing this from San Francisco where Nancy Pelosi has been my congresswoman and I have voted for in every election not including the first election when she burst onto the scene in a special election to fill the late Sala Burton's seat in 1987 when I voted against Nancy.

Cindy Sheehan says "This war is insane. End it". Nancy Pelosi says "This war is insane. That is why I am leading the Democrats to spend another $200,000,000,000.00 on it next year." Who is the crazy one?

People voted for the Democrats in 2006 for change, to investigate the Bush war crimes and the Bush crimes against the constitution. Instead Nancy Pelosi took impeachment off the table. If she thinks colluding with the failed GOP policies will get more votes in 2008 to blame Republicans for the mess, she should look at the abysmally low congressional approval ratings.

If the election were held today, yes I would vote for Cindy Sheehan. If Nancy Pelosi thinks that she has a "safe seat", she need not look into arcane 1800s for a sitting Speaker of the House that was not re-elected. She need only look to 1994 and talk to not re-elected Tom Foley (still alive as of this writing).

2008-04-26 02:55:24 AM
I wonder what the split is in that district, If Sheehan can get enough votes from Pelosi it would be amazing if a republican got elected. How awesomely farktastic would that be.
Also, god how I wish this woman had not disgraced the memory of her son. I only hope that she finally got him a tombstone, it was just a little marker for his gave for the longest time.

That kind of logic makes you as bad as you say Bush is. Any congressional action taken again him just for the sake of punishing him does nothing good for the country. It is nothing but a personal vendetta which wastes time and resources which could be spent on much more crucial legislation. The proper thing to do is work to fix what he farked up, which will be much easier with the republicans on your side.

If she wins she can go on tv and brag about how her district demanded change and she's just the one to do it. When she loses, she's gonna go on tv and accuse the Bush administration of conspiring to keep her out of office out of fear. Either way we're gonna see more of that ugly mug on tv. Ma'am, I'm sorry your son died. I truly am. But he's a big boy. He knew what would happen when he enlisted, just like I did. Stop using his grave as a soapbox for your hatred. It's disrespectful and embarassing. Oh, and his name was CASEY. Seems the whole world knows her name but can never remember his. It's sad, really.
