It's 'Haas', named for steaming bucket of human excrement Gene Haas, submitter.

Tony Stewart is a douche. I wrote him a letter because one of my students really worked hard and the kid wanted something from Tony Stewart. So I sent Tony Stewart a letter asking him for something (don't care really...photo, hat, spark plug, I didn't give a crap). 6 months later, nothing.

Tony won't say it publicly, but he's mad as hell about driving a Toyota. One way of the other, he'll be back in a Chevy next year.

It probably never made it past his publicity people.

Yeah, because I'm sure you were the only one to send a letter.

How to make a small fortune in racing: 1st start with a large fortune.

Just from what I've seen on track and in the media Tony doesn't exactly have the temperament it takes to be a successful owner.

Dumb-Ass-Monkey: It probably never made it past his publicity people.

Any publicity wonk worth their salt has a 'I'm sorry, Mr. Stewart is unable to respond to individual requests, here's a signed photo' letter to hand for just that eventuality.

I guess he's tired of winning.

Actually, he probably was. How much fail do you have to have inside of you in order to write a letter to some nascar idiot? That's like writing a letter to your dentist.

I don't understand why he would want to leave Gibbs. If anything, Gibbs was able to get Stewart to calm down and focus enough to win a few championships. It helps that Gibbs also has some of the best equipment around. Maybe this second-hand Hendricks equipment would be good too, but what does Stewart really want to get out of the owner--driver combo? More money?

I wouldve said the same thing about Robby Gordon, but he's done respectably well with it.

Stewart would be better off starting his own team from the ground up rather than jumping aboard the Haas failboat.

I think that if he leaves for a Chevy team, it won't be Haas, especially if he wants 50% ownership. It wouldn't make sense to have a business relationship with a convicted felon due to be released in October of 2009.

He can't go to RCR, because the deal with Bobby Labonte there is allegedly already in the works, and Hendrick wouldn't make sense because they are sponsored by Lowe's and Pepsi, whereas Tony is Home Depot and Coke.

The random option would be for Childress to sell the owners points of the #29 to Harvick, and have Harvick take KHI to the Cup Series with himself driving. Have Stewart replace Harvick in the #29 with no owners points and use his past champions provisional to get into the top 35.

Tax evasion! In the old days, thanks to the revenuers, everybody in the sport had a record...

This. There's so much cost associated with racing, even on the hobby level. Kids racing is outrageous as well.

THIS, and you know who's also bad at replying to his mail... God. He's a douche, I've been asking for a ish all my life, and nothing.

Tony Stewart is an ass, and I submitted this with a funnier headline. Not that it's, like, an achievement.

Right. Imagine you and Tony Stewart walk into a restaurant at the same time.
How many people will turn and say "hey, that's Tony Stewart."
And how many people will turn and say "hey, there's that noob from the Internet."

He's probably a little more famous than your dentist.

Hasn't Gordon been a succesful team owner in less costly racing endeavors?

a.

Come to think of it Bodine, DW and Rudd all drove for the right and honorable (pardoned by Clinton) Rick Hendrick

Haas is a powerful man, probably the most significant in american manufacturing, but yes - he is a prick, but he knows it.

His whole tax evasion was his reaction to an unfavorable lawsuit result, or so says inside type people (insiders on the manufacturing side, not racing - I don't know many racing types) - anyway, this was his FU to the government and it bit him

You forgot Bill Elliott.

Farking Sweet: You forgot Bill Elliott.

No I didn't. Bill Elliot was winning races and contending for the championship as an owner/driver. Alan Kulwicki actually won the 1992 (insert sponsor here) Cup as an owner/driver. These other schmucks plus the other Bodine brothers did not.
