Sorta. Religion is indoctrinated, yes. But we all have a propensity towards faith. A simple example would be belief in karma or superstition. Events we don't understand are usually explained by non-scientific means.

No, wait! I DO understand! The sun (and the rest of the universe) revolves around the earth (and, me, in particular). This, according to my science - in which I have faith.

When did I defend this church? (Now watch farkers, he is going to do one of three things. 1. Point to something I said that was in no way a defense of this church and call it a defense of this church. 2. Reply with "what you said earlier" wherein I will reply with "well what specifically are you referring to" and he will reply with "oh no I am not playing that game" or "now you are being obtuse" 3. USP .45: Tor_Eckman: You have made incorrect statements in this thread. Explaining that these statements are being used to compare or contrast two things does not make them correct, and invalidates any comparison.

I think you pointed out one incorrect statement I made, which is fine because it wasn't required for the overall argument.

Oh, and thank you for correcting my grammar--it confirms your standing as an internet dbag

I wasn't trying to correct your grammar, I was merely pointing out the Bible thumpishness of your willful ignorance of other religions.

12 years of Catholic school

I recovered, and have been a happy atheist for 25 years now. So no bible thumping here. You said something fundamentally wrong about the Christian sect I know something about. I set the record straight. You are presenting yourself as an expert on religion, yet you didn't know this basic premise of the Catholic belief. So stop being foolish already.

Wow.

It's good to see that the learned pastor is pushing his flock to learn about the candidates and make an informed decision for the continued well-being of the nation.

In other news, McCain has "Cain" in his name, Hillary sounds like "Hitlery" if you're drunk, and Jesus is either Jewish, black, or Mexican, depending on whom you ask.

What a farking moron.

Worst. Argument. Evar.

Atheism is a firm belief - atheists are charismatic in their assuredness that there is no God. A baby has no propensity toward any of the above - because without intellectual discernment of the options available, how could you say that an infant has made a decision toward a belief in God or not? Babies are born as a blank slate - there's no anything - it all has to be learned; even ATHEISM.

It's really all just a pathetic attempt by this reverend at getting attention. Morons like this exist all over our country. To all you christians who keep saying, "it's not us, it's those lunatics!"

Why aren't you publically calling out these lunatics? Why aren't they being expelled and denounced?

Instead, they're just quietly brushed off like none of it is happening while the evil ones are raping children, perpetuating lies, committing crimes, etc.

Why isn't there a bishop standing on their front lawn going, "NO! STOP IT! YOURE WRONG!"?

Dubya's_Coke_Dealer: I did not say what you claim I said. Obviously, you have trouble with comprehension.

Then explain to my oh-so-troubled with comprehension Christian agnostic brain what you meant when you said you didn't need to provide the numbers of how many Christians are "dumb as a brick" because "you've attended church" and were able to draw some shockingly conclusive observations from such a world-changing event.

Meh, the statement that there is a high intersection between 'Christian' and 'Stupid' is valid, as there is an easily observed intersection of 'Human' and 'Does/Says stupid stuff'.
