Denies claims... could not possibly....

So they're claiming it could be connected?

I keep telling you Americans. . . if you get a batch of bad pig intestines, or lead-tainted toys, it's not the governing or regulatory body's fault-- it's simply because you didn't appease the spirits of your ancestors! So just get your survivors to light some incense once in a while, or burn paper money, and maybe this time you'll get reincarnated on a lucky numbered day or date. And as a male, don't forget that part.

The fools! When will they learn that it's actually too many regulations that's the problem? They need to give the pig intestine industry a freer hand.

Not to mention the tainted cola products.

Whew, thank FSM there wasn't any lead in it. That would've been terrible.

Bill Maher mentioned this and even showed a picture. It was pretty gross. Why the fark do we have to get EVERYTHING from China?

2008-04-21 08:34:09 PM
China doesn't care about people dying. 62? China would kill a thousand if it meant they made an extra nickel. When you have a country that treat people as cattle you can't be suprised when they kill a few dozen people out of carelessness.

At the hospital I work in, they replaced all the heparin with latex-free vials. I figured there was some latex component to the allergic reaction. You would think, in order to get from pig intestines to sterile medication, there would have to be some fairly thorough processes to purify the drug, even in China.

Well, that explains why Wal-Mart's pharmacy is so cheap, doesn't it?

2008-04-21 08:36:18 PM
So we outsource not only the product, but the quality control mechanisms, and then we biatch when something goes wrong? Hmmm.

Since sausages are made using pig intestines, and blood thinners reduce the chance of a heart attack, does this mean that I should eat more sausages to save my heart?

Damn you Jack Cafferty! You've forced them to unleash the pig intestines!

2008-04-21 08:43:52 PM
It could be worse, China could also be in the business of supplying the world with body parts from their own poorer citizens and political disfunctionals in their Empire to fuel their greed.

Wait the Olympics are coming up right! Okay their own poor citizens, disfunctionals and the occasional idiot tourist who suddenly finds themselves encountering big trouble in Communist China

Bill Cafferty was right. We get nothing but junk from China and we seem to be held over an economic barrel by the goonish, thugish gov't.

Okay, pork belly prices have been dropping all morning, which means that everybody is waiting for it to hit rock bottom, so they can buy low. Which means that the people who own the pork belly contracts are saying, "Hey, we're losing all our damn money, and Christmas is around the corner, and I ain't gonna have no money to buy my son the G.I. Joe with the kung-fu grip! And my wife ain't gonna f... my wife ain't gonna make love to me if I got no money!" So they're panicking right now, they're screaming "SELL! SELL!" to get out before the price keeps dropping. They're panicking out there right now, I can feel it.

/Lean pork's been dropping for 6 months, it could be a good time to buy.

Bohemian: Anyone remember a few years ago when the FDA said consumers couldn't buy drugs from Canada because it was too dangerous?

Gee, you cynic. The FDA was only looking out for our safety and best interests. It had nothing at all to do with the fact that government regulators are owned by Corporate America. Nothing. And I, for one, love our benevolent leaders.

//avoids gov't surveillance of electronic information (which would of course be completely, completely justified if it did happen)

So, I wonder if Jews, Muslims, or vegetarians take Heparin. Or what other drug requires animal products.

2008-04-21 09:03:03 PM
The Food and Drug Administration says 62 deaths are associated with allergic-style reactions to contaminated batches of heparin. The FDA can't say for sure what caused the reactions, but the chief suspect is a contaminant that the agency discovered in supplies of raw heparin coming from China.

Could it be, I don't know, maybe PIG shiat?

Did anyone catch Real Time with Bill Maher last week? They showed a photo of a Heparin manufacturing facility. I kid you not when I say it was repugnant beyond words. Horrendously unsanitary to the point where it appeared to be some form of industrial waste.

Yea I saw that too. I was stunned by that photo, and couldn't believe they were manufacturing a drug in conditions that looked beyond unsanitary. I can't seem to find the pic anywhere on the web either.

www.lordargent.com

Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
From the pain that you drive into the intestine of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my light
For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night

(chorus)
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted drug you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Oh...tainted drug
Tainted drug

Sorry, no. More like the other way. As grains have been getting more expensive hog farmers have been sending their cattle to market because they're too expensive to feed, reducing the price. This can only go on for so long as supply will diminish enough to cause the price to grow. Expect more expensive bacon sometime soon.

/This is a general theory which I think is true.

I find it utterly terrifying that we let the chinks produce our medicine.

Curiously, this seems to be par for the course. The heparin that made it to the US was FOR EXPORT ONLY, rather than for internal use in China.

The PRC has a pretty poor track record on quality control of medicinal products that are exported to other countries - a year ago, over a hundred people in Latin America died after consuming cough syrup that had been manufactured with "glycerine" from China that turned out to be Diethlylene Glycol.

Of course, since this did not affect Chinese nationals, this was considered a non-issue and the blamed on the Latin American manufacturer, never mind that the product had been labeled and certified by the PRC's regulatory agencies...

It's beyond avoiding buying products made in China as you have to know where the ingredients for your products come from as well.
