It doesn't say they tossed out the beer, just that they "emptied out its contents" :)

That's the only time when throwing away beer is a good thing.

"We did anything at all to keep us going and to keep us awake," Trumble said.

Kinda makes you wonder....

I wonder if they realize if they hadn't finished off the OTHER cooler full of beer, they wouldn't have sunk.

Beer...the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems

Just some technical issues here:

5-foot waves
WTF? I thought this was a lake in Canadia... ?????

And, how the fark does a 19ft boat sink from a pissy little 5ft wave?? I've been deep sea fishing before on a 24ft boat with 22ft waves, and the boat kept on going!

The friends emptied out its contents
Yeah, suurrrre they did! More like DRANK the contents!

This one is farking with my mind:
The water temperature was about 78 degrees overnight
????????? WTF? WTF? WTF???? This is Canadia, known for cold temperatures!!! What, was it the water temperature in the immediate area that they were pissing into?

I think Canadia is just a hoax. It's not really there, it's all made up, just like the Weekly World News.

Ah, oh one who stacks pork, you must remember that the Canadians descend from the French -- so it's not surprising that they surrender to measily 5ft "swells."

Hey Pork, Lake Ontario is huge! I grew up on it and used to sail that lake and the St.Larwence river all the time. I've been caught in some terrifying line squals that actually ripped the mast off the boat.

The real question here is - was it really worth sacrificing the lives of perhaps 24 or 36 beers in order to save 4 people?
