Although Iran has condemned the 2001 al-Qaida attacks on New York and Washington in the past, this was the third time in a week that Ahmadinejad questioned the death toll, who was behind the attacks and how it happened.

This sounds similar to the Holocaust denial type attack: "We're admitting that the event likely happened, but they are clearly fudging the numbers and maybe they even didn't stop it to generate sympathy for themselves so they can start their imperialistic goals."

Oh, yes. Let's give the populace even less of a reason to move away from the hardliners by assassinating what amounts to a figure head on most geopolitically significant issues for being a douchebag.

Brilliant!

Posted before the troofer hordes show up.

First, specifically about 9/11 conspirazoids:

Whatever reason it may be that the government supposedly orchestrated this conspiracy, it must have been worth it to them to cause so much suffering and loss of life. So if there's any truth to this, then you can bet your ass that the government wouldn't let a couple of pecker-neck chumps with a couple of Macs and too much time on their hands jeopardise their entire operation by letting this stupid video float around on the Internet. I can picture you morons emailing me now: "BUT MADOX, MAYBE DYLAN POSTED IT ON THE INTERNET BEFORE THE GOVERNMENT HAD A CHANCE TO REMOVE IT LOL." Yeah, too bad this rebuttal is inconsistent with the premise of Dylan's sh*t-festival of a movie: that the WTC was brought down "in a carefully planned and controlled demolition ... and it was pulled off with military precision." Now we're expected to believe that the same government that was able to commit the largest terrorist operation in history--with military precision no less--is suddenly too incompetent to sniff out and shut down a little website set up by some college losers within days, if not minutes of its creation? The US government has the capability to monitor every electronic communication made anywhere in the world, yet we're expected to believe that they wouldn't be able to nix this kid long before his video ever became popular?

I win. There is no conspiracy. Eat my sh*t, losers.
- Maddox

Oh, and just to rub it in - all that needs be said about 9/11 conspiracy theorists and all other paranoids:

The paranoid style is not confined to our own country and time; it is an international phenomenon. Studying the millennial sects of Europe from the eleventh to the sixteenth century, Norman Cohn believed he found a persistent psychic complex that corresponds broadly with what I have been considering-a style made up of certain preoccupations and fantasies: "the megalomaniac view of oneself as the Elect, wholly good, abominably persecuted, yet assured of ultimate triumph; the attribution of gigantic and demonic powers to the adversary; the refusal to accept the ineluctable limitations and imperfections of human existence, such as transience, dissention, conflict, fallibility whether intellectual or moral; the obsession with inerrable prophecies...systematized misinterpretations, always gross and often grotesque."

This glimpse across a long span of time emboldens me to make the conjecture-it is no more than that-that a mentality disposed to see the world in this way may be a persistent psychic phenomenon, more or less constantly affecting a modest minority of the population. But certain religious traditions, certain social structures and national inheritances, certain historical catastrophes or frustrations may be conducive to the release of such psychic energies, and to situations in which they can more readily be built into mass movements or political parties. In American experience ethnic and religious conflict have plainly been a major focus for militant and suspicious minds of this sort, but class conflicts also can mobilize such energies. Perhaps the central situation conducive to the diffusion of the paranoid tendency is a confrontation of opposed interests which are (or are felt to be) totally irreconcilable, and thus by nature not susceptible to the normal political processes of bargain and compromise. The situation becomes worse when the representatives of a particular social interest-perhaps because of the very unrealistic and unrealizable nature of its demands-are shut out of the political process. Having no access to political bargaining or the making of decisions, they find their original conception that the world of power is sinister and malicious fully confirmed. They see only the consequences of power-and this through distorting lenses-and have no chance to observe its actual machinery. A distinguished historian has said that one of the most valuable things about history is that it teaches us how things do not happen. It is precisely this kind of awareness that the paranoid fails to develop. He has a special resistance of his own, of course, to developing such awareness, but circumstances often deprive him of exposure to events that might enlighten him-and in any case he resists enlightenment.

We are all sufferers from history, but the paranoid is a double sufferer, since he is afflicted not only by the real world, with the rest of us, but by his fantasies as well.

This may be the single best argument against there being a massive government-led conspiracy. Such a video would never see the light of day if its allegations were true and we would never hear of the directors/producers of the video cause they'd be in jail or dead.

I watched a great 9/11 conspiracy show on History Channel this weekend. It was awesome, had the claims of the troofers and the answers to their craziness. I actually called my truther friend and told him to watch it (though it didn't really convince him or anything).

He does make a good point with ONE specific item:

Ahmadinejad has said the attacks were a result of "mismanaging and inhumane managing of the world by the U.S." and should not be turned into another Holocaust "used for slaughtering people."

Sorry to report, Mr. Ahmedinejad, that's exactly what happened.

The world stopped giving a crap about USA's 9-11 when the USA started visiting thousands of 9-11's all over Iraq and Afghanistan.

I'm sure those 2750 people who died are proud that their deaths have been used as a justification for the rape and pillage of a few third world countries.

How on earth could anyone have doubts about the largest terrorist attack in history. There is just too much evidence to deny it. The Holocoust on the other hand...

You realize that the President of Iran really has very little power in Iran, right? It's the Assembly of Experts, which is made up of 86 mujtahids that hold true political power.

It serves the official story to let as many loonies as possible crowd the 9/11 truth movement.
Most of the documentaries out there are severely flawed if not outright schizophrenic. I recall seeing one film clip of the burning towers in which an out-of-focus bird flew across the frame, and the poster insisted this was evidence of UFOs present during the events. The classic chicken-wire demonstration is only slightly less pathetic.
Mocking ridiculous evidence doesn't prove the point is invalid, however, and neither does it prove that your point of view is right. That is called a straw man argument.

One doesn't have to be paranoid to observe that Bush capitalized on 9/11 to sidestep world opinion and launch wars of aggression. Given that 9/11 served Bush's interests, it's wise to ask whether they acted or failed to act in order to bring it about.
There is abundant evidence that they failed to act, far beyond what can be explained by mere incompetence.

It's only an inductive argument, but that's far stronger that your logic-free straw man.
The official story remains in considerable doubt.

Yeah, not exactly a good PR move for us.

Now, supporting anti-regime elements/political movements with a multi-pronged combination of covert and public support - a la the former Eastern Bloc countries during the cold war - well, that's a different story...

hmmmm.....every name has been published of those killed on 9/11 Mister Ahavearodinmypooper, now let's see that list of names of the one million killed in Iraq.
