Nine times?
Nine times.

At least it's not cold as hell.

"It hurts like hell."
Not Right Away. You just feel the impact.
Then the shock wears off, and it hurts like hell.

Once again proving that criminals are dumb as stumps and horrible marksmen. Must have been the same "thug" that shot 50 Cent.

I applaud the Trooper for being back on the job. That man is hardcore.

Guy is hardcore, but I don't know about calling a traffic cop a hero. Hardcore != hero.

Where in the article does it say "It hurts like hell" in the article?

I'd say Hero Status works. Dude got shot, a lot, and kept doing his job, thats way above hardcore status in my book.

OK, I don't see it, either.

+1 vote for this guy being hardcore.

I'd hate to get pulled over by him, though. He's probably paranoid as hell. (With good reason.)

From TFA: "It happened on May 28, 2005.' and "Rollins stood trial last week."

Absolutely inexcusable that it would take that long for an attempted murder to come to a trial.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

I can't help but think that the vast mounds of lawyer BS have much to do with the ridiculous wait.

B.C.: Justice delayed is justice denied. I can't help but think that the vast mounds of lawyer BS have much to do with the ridiculous wait.

First, the guy was tried & convicted. Obviously that means Justice delayed is still Justice.

Second, the article says nothing about why it took almost 3 years. For all we know the guy could've been in hiding for 2 years.

Third, not everything on the planet has to be completed in under 60 seconds so ADD/ADHD/TLA afflicted citizens will pay attention long enough to notice it. Some of us have a normal attention span. Get used to it.

Frankly, when anyone's life hangs in the balance, things should move slowly so that mistakes aren't made. Not a single man should ever be wrongly accused, convicted, and executed. Period. Not even if you're willing to be the first one.

And by going slow, making sure every i is dotted & t is crossed it should, in theory, limit the number of criminals who get off on technicalities. A law broken is still a law broken.

MonkeyBoy666:First, the guy was tried & convicted. Obviously that means Justice delayed is still Justice.

Tell that to the rape victim who waited 3 years for a conviction of her rapist. Tell that to the family of a murdered father and husband who waited 3 years for the conviction of the murderer. Or hell, flip it around. Tell that to the man who is incarcerated for 3 years without trial and then is found not guilty. Did they get justice? There's a reason we have that little thing about speedy trial in that there ol' Constitution thing.

Second, the article says nothing about why it took almost 3 years. For all we know the guy could've been in hiding for 2 years.

From another article which took all of 2 seconds googling his name: He initially led Brashear on a short chase but when it stopped, he got out of the car and opened fire on the trooper. Rollins then went to a nearby pool hall and told patrons he had shot a police officer and they needed to call police.

Third, not everything on the planet has to be completed in under 60 seconds so ADD/ADHD/TLA afflicted citizens will pay attention long enough to notice it. Some of us have a normal attention span. Get used to it.

1. He confessed before he was arrested.
2. He plead guilty.
3. This is not a few months, but three farking years after it happened.

If you confess to attempted murder, there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for the case taking three years to come to trial.

B.C. No you really do have it all wrong. If the price I had to pay fo not doing a crime was 3 years of my life rather then my life in prison or the death penalty, I would choose 3 years in jail thanks.

Would I be pissed that it took 3 years to get me out? YES
Would I sue if possible? HELL YES
Would I be happy as fark that I was out and still alive? YES

It's all about perspective man. Yes it sucks that people would have to wait 3 years for "justice". But once it happens they are happy it has.

And you're missing the point. The guy ADMITTED to doing it. HE FARKING PLEAD GUILTY. And yet it took 3 years. That is a travesty.

Are you telling me that it is reasonable that it took three years for someone who has admitted to the crime with which they are charged to be sentenced?

2008-04-11 07:38:15 AM
I've never been shot (and hopefully never will) but wouldn't an extreme adrenaline dump right before getting shot mitigate most of the pain?

Reasonable, nah I never said reasonable. But pleading guilty to a crime doesn't make you guilty. MANY people for whatever reason plead guilty to crimes they don't commit.

There are to many other factors that need tobe considered.

Like what was the case load of his defender? How long did it take to get ballistics back on the rounds and the gun? Did one of the investigating officers make a mistake?

But back to the travesty that you think occured...
The guy admitted to shooting the cop and I am sure the cop said yep that's the guy who shot me.

So the bad guy is in jail and the cop recovered. Where is the travesty here? The cop even said he was glad it was fianlly over.

If I was the person shot like him I would darn sure want to make positive that no mistakes were made during the trial so that the dude who shot me stayed in jail.

How do you fit that much stupid into your head? Let me spell this out for you.

T-H-R-E-E Y-E-A-R-S

What if the cop had died? He admitted to the crime BEFORE he was arrested. I'd say that's a pretty farking clear sign that he farking did it.

The cop said he's glad it's finally over. As in, IT TOOK THREE FARKING YEARS TO GET JUSTICE. I don't care what the fark you factor in, three years is absolutely inexcusable and an insult to justice.

No unnecessary shots, Conrad, 'cause we know what they do.

Make infected pockets full of bile, sir.

That's right, Conrad, that's what they do.

2008-04-11 08:52:58 AM
How bout this: Maybe they take longer on the open and shut cases like this. No way the guy is getting bail, so he's off the street. This guy, who has confessed, sits in a cell awaiting trial and thus gives the prosecution more time to spend on cases where it isn't so clear. So maybe the rapist mentioned above, or the circumstancial evidence guy get convicted/found innocent a whole lot quicker.

2008-04-11 08:54:49 AM
I'm with B.C. on this one. Any lawyer should have been able to tap out a case where the attack was:

a) On video
b) Assailant pleads guilty
c) Witnesses watching the act being committed

6th Amendment: In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed...

Three years is WAY to long....

On Spike TV's Manswers they say the best place to get shot (if, of course, you HAVE to get shot) is in the arm. I will award 1 Hero Tag for anyone willing to prove it. :)

Also, I don't know about the adrenaline thing ... I think the first bullet will shock you (even before the pain sets in). Unless you can somehow stay on your feet and are running for your life or something ... I think once you get shot, you pretty much fall over in shock, as it takes a second for your brain to realize the heap of sh*t it's in and turn on the pain.

Maybe if you're semi-used to getting shot ... or if you're Bruce Willis.

/Chuck Norris, of course, doesn't even need adrenaline ...

You think they should rush to the courtroom without first having taken time to gather evidence? 'Cos it would suck if they failed to convict because they had a lousy case built against the guy.
