America's not ready for a black, female vice president

She might counter Obama's racial draw, but her being Bush's chief advisor isn't going to impress the undecided voters.

Here's the attack ad for August... first a clip of Rice's testimony: "I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people...would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile."

CUT TO: August 6, 2001 President's Daily Briefing Memo: 'Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.'

She was the Nation Security Adviser before and during 9/11 and as Secretary of State as the US became more hated and distrusted around the world. It would seem her long fail upward continues.

Please, please resign to spend more time with your family.

Exactly how is that an attack ad? That's her farking testimony before Congress. Those words came from her mouth. It's not anyone's fault but hers that they make her look like an incompetent boob.

she might be black, but she's still on bush's cabinet and she'd still be running with mccain.

Well, I'd vote for a Fundie-free McCain/Rice ticket over a Hillary/Anyone (or even Obama/Hillary) ticket early, and often.

McCain/Huckabee, not so much.

I think an overwhelming majority would see right through it, realizing her VP spot would be nothing but a cheap imitation of what's available on the Democratic ticket.

She single. No kids.

I can't see this happening either. She brings nothing to the ticket. McCain is already a war hawk and so is she. The only thing she brings is the color of her skin and who is that going to fool against Obama.

I don't even understand why this is a rumor.

2008-04-08 11:44:35 PM
McCain will probably pick a far right winger for VP. If there's a God, he'll go for Santorum. Santorum is always good for a laugh.

2008-04-08 11:45:37 PM
Never will happen...
Blacks still won't vote for McCain because Condi like Clarence Thomas isn't perceived to be true to the black cause along with this it may also piss off too many white conservatives in the red states!

2008-04-08 11:45:59 PM
McCain will pick Jack Kemp.

I'm sure Condi would bring all of the bible thumpers, hillbillies, and the rest of the republican base out in droves!

Wouldn't surprise me. "Hmmm...the Democrats are running a black guy...and a woman...how to counter this...hmm..."

They won't do it, however. They're not THAT dumb.

ZAZ: She might counter Obama's racial draw, but her being Bush's chief advisor isn't going to impress the undecided voters.

Black voters really don't care for the woman, from my understanding. Her ethnicity would be irrelevant by and large. I personally wish that this were true, however, simply because it would make McCain easier to defeat in a general election. This administration has performed acts of treason and terrorism (and poorly at that) and the people in this country are catching on. Bush is hovering in the "20% approval" range and that simply needs to be applied to McCain's loyalty to his failure of a presidency.

2008-04-08 11:49:37 PM
Condi makes me fap.

2008-04-08 11:50:06 PM
Yes...yes! A semi-Bushie+Bushie Republican ticket! Please let it happen! [Although she probably knows the difference between Sunni and Shiite.]

2008-04-08 11:50:08 PM
If they do that, the black community won't vote for her since she's been doing Bush Jr. Bidding, and the true old school racist Republicans won't vote for her either because they're not too fond of McCain in the first place and having an educated black woman destroying all their stereotypes would just simply rub them the wrong way.

2008-04-08 11:50:23 PM
McCain will likely pick someone I've never heard of from way out in left field.

2008-04-08 11:50:27 PM

There is more truth here than you think. The Republican's have no bench, as this past primary shows. Romney has no long-term future and Huckabee is too right field for most Americans.

I am a firm believer that Bush just didn't lose a war, he lost a generation.

2008-04-09 12:02:12 AM
McCain/Ross Perot

After reading his biblio on wikipedia (I know it can't be trusted as a reliable source) I would vote for that combo over Hillary and whoever.

Condi dominates any discussion on national security and foreign policy. There's is no Democrat at that caliber, with that level of expertise.

Any liberal (particularly the idiots who hang out here) look like this when placed beside her:

lol, condi has been entirely incompetent. i really don't understand why you people have such a high regard for her. i mean... i guess i shouldn't be surprised, you elected george bush, twice, you're very clearly not a good judge of intelligence or aptitude, and you're probably equally impressed by some of the higher apes.

ABC is just flogging this rumor to fill space. Rice has said consistently and repeatedly when asked directly by interviewers that she has no interest in elective office and will not be a candidate for vice president.

Name one liberal with these national security/foreign policy credentials. One.

Former Professor of Political Science, Stanford University; former Provost, Stanford University; fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; frequent member of boards of directors for major corporations; former Senior Director of Soviet and East European Affairs in the National Security Council (and speaks fluent Russian); former Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs; current National Security Advisor; Secretary of State-designee; pianist of considerable talent; named by Forbes magazine in August 2004 as the world's most powerful woman.

Oh, wait. It was already clear why she was selected for a post in Bush's White house.

Any one of them that doesn't have "Started a second Vietnam" of their record. Honestly, no way McCain will grab her. It's be death.

And you are an idiot.

It's puzzling why Cons are so hard up for Condi. Some were trying to draft her for Prez!

She was a DEMOCRAT prior to joining the administration. Her only attribute I can see them admiring in her is her loyal Bushie status. But she disagreed with him frequently but not in a "hey, look at me, Mr. Maverick" way like McCain.

She's not a politician. She'd do nothing for McCain on the road. And, supposedly not a very good administrator. People have been dropping like flies out of State. She's never been good at the bully pulpit. All she is is a good ear-whisperer and an attractive Hood Ornament.

Considering the high probability that you vote McCain for 44, you're also voting for 45. You'd think Cons would want a charismatic heir-apparent. (Oh, crap, that'd be Romney.) Instead of picking the least tainted Bushie. (OK, after Gates.)

Why so much liberal hate? Maybe if there was less divisive partisan hatred in the states you guys could, you know, elect someone that won't fark shiat up.

Then again, us vs them thinking is always a great way for unfit people to grab power.

Shaggy_C: Oh, wait.

I should have known to omit that due to liberals' reflexive venom toward anything in the private sector.

Liberals aren't concerned with peoples' successes in the marketplace - they're more interested in feelings and an OCD-grade attention to metaphor and symbolism.
