Always going after the rich guy...

2002-11-12 11:31:48 AM
But Rush tells me it's the poor people on welfare and Democrats who are stealing all my tax dollars. How can this be?

2002-11-12 11:31:55 AM

That's it! Get me a wall. Bernie Ebbers is first against it. The Revolution has arrived!

I guess money does grow on trees.

2002-11-12 11:33:12 AM
So, what, he's not allowed to have money anymore?

bOObies please.

2002-11-12 11:35:51 AM
Meh, farm subsidies. This is one area where I agree with the Libertarians. It's outrageous that anyone should have to PAY farmers to grow then destroy products, just to keep the prices high.

2002-11-12 11:36:35 AM
TheJoeY
Sure, he can have money. Right after he pays back all the stockholders and vendors who got screwed by the bankruptcy.

2002-11-12 11:37:07 AM
you can thank senator tom dasshole for this one... no wonder that illegitimate majority patsy is going back to being a nobody.

BOOYAH!!!

"Bernie Ebbers' Farm: All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. "

It's not going after rich guys, it's going after crooks
[rich does not equal crook].

The tendency to break the law seems to strike people regardless of their economic background.

2002-11-12 11:39:25 AM
and what is wrong with giving conversation subsidies?

At last count, i don't recall Bernie being convicted in a court of law. Innocent until proven guilty anybody?

2002-11-12 11:39:43 AM
The perfect blend of liberalism and conservatism. It was FDR who
created farming subsidies, and the Republicans that promote laisez-faire corporate
policies that allow stock holder pyramid rip off schemes.

2002-11-12 11:40:58 AM
What a country. In Sovi3t Rossia 4 million farms would share
Bernie Ebbers.

And the TV watches you!

Richboy farming - maybe the asshat can grow some decency, integrity, and honor

Capitalism rules!

2002-11-12 11:55:53 AM
Harrybeanbag: Don't blame it all on Daschle. The latest farm subsidy bill was backed by a large group of Dems and Reps. Bush was all for it and signed it. This was one area where bipartisan bickering was cast aside for the good of the country!

2002-11-12 11:55:53 AM
Nightsweat: I'm with you on that one. While reading the article, all I could think of was that if this shiat continues, there will be a revolution.

2002-11-12 11:58:13 AM
One has nothing to do with the other. Hell, Dan Rather gets subsidies and has for years.

2002-11-12 11:58:38 AM
Damn Farm Subsidies. I been telling you guys all along that they're a bunch of crap and a waste of $200,000,000 of our money.

2002-11-12 11:59:26 AM
Wait, scratch that, make that $200,000,000,000 of our money. Sorry, forgot the extra zeroes. For those of you too lazy to count the zeroes its 200 billion dollars.

2002-11-12 12:02:39 PM
The hell with Karyn and her chicken feed. This is the crap that pissed ME off.

2002-11-12 12:04:14 PM
I grow the best tomatoes in my 'hood. Can I have $4,000,000?

2002-11-12 12:04:51 PM
You guys didn't know. Only stupid farkers go broke after being rich. I mean really really really stupid farkers. I'm stalking stupid beyond the standards of even Ralph Wiggum...or Chief Wiggum for that matter.

You have to be a complete moron to go from fortune to broke in any civilized nation.

2002-11-12 12:04:52 PM
I just love paying corporate welfare. If you search that database, you'll find the fvcking Nation of Islam gets US farm subsidies, too.

2002-11-12 12:09:19 PM
Jasmin, this isn't corporate welfare. Its individual welfare. We're paying money out to a guy who ransacked his own company so that he can sit on a fallow field and not grow anything and then claim it was because he didnt' have enough money.

Remember, whether your dollars go to a good-for-nothing corporation or a good-for-nothing lazy cheat, they're still being wasted.

2002-11-12 12:10:21 PM
Good point, Bbcrackmonkey.

2002-11-12 12:11:21 PM
Its good that we are helping out poor old Bernie. I'd hate to see him lose his farm.

I figger if we help him out today, he can help me tomorrow with my tax problem and all the interest I'm paying now. We work together in this economy as a team. Surely a brother can help another out ever now and then...

How can anyone who claims to believe in capitalism and free market economics suggest for a second that farm subsidies are a good idea.

2002-11-12 12:33:05 PM
Setaanbomb sez; "You have to be a complete moron to go from fortune to broke in any civilized nation."

Hence, Dubya's complete failures in Harken Oil, Arbusto and "Bush Explorations" (luv that name!).

See, he needs that money so he can go buy a big yacht and stimulate the economy....that's how our economy works. If the perversely wealthy can't buy yachts, then everybody is out of a job.

/retard

Every elected official who voted for the farm bill should be tarred and feathered.

Farm subsidies also cause poor people in other countries to starve. By manipulating the market price of crops in the US, prices in other markets respond, often with dire consequences for developing nations. Agriculture is the basis for many developing economies, but they cannot sell their goods at market prices because we are keeping prices high with subsidies. The developing country has trouble feeding itself, even though they have enough farmland to grow enough for themselves, and even export. We give them aid in the form of money or direct shipments of food, because we fell like we should help them out.

Makes sense to me all the way around...

2002-11-12 01:08:45 PM
Farm subsidies are ridiculous. They are mostly paid to wealthy individuals who more than likely are hostile to welfare as a concept. You definitely can't blame this on democrats. Bill Clinton signed a law in ninety-something that was supposed to end all farm subsidies, but a republican controlled congress continued to authorize "emergency spending" annually to keep the subsidies coming. Last year a republican house and democratic senate sent a bill to a republican president which was signed into law reestablishing this crap.

Now that I think about it, this 4mil that went to Ebbers came out of "emergency spending". Ain't that nice.

End all farm subsidies immediately. Pull the band aid fast - it stings a bit but you're better off in the long run.

WorldCom is in the process of seizing some of his assets, many of which were pledged as collateral for the loans.

I saw the list of Ebbers' assets. Somewhere around line 140 or so was this:

"50 able-bodied negro slaves from Angelina Plantation, to be auctioned for fair market value..."

Around 4% of the population owns around 90% of America's wealth.

It is correct and proper and as it should be.

Disagree and you are a liberal communist pinko something.

Love it or leave it.

Kill Saddam.

ManRay: Add to that the fact that farm subsidies help put the small farmer out of business. The farm subsidies overwhelmingly go to large farm corporations or wealthy individuals. This lets them under price the family farmer and put him out of business, or make him a sharecropper for the corporation. The farm subsidies are sold as a way to help struggling farmers, but that's BS.

It's assclowns like Bernie Ebbers and Ken Lay that make me glad I never held any stock in their companies...I'd hate to have lost all that money just so that could live it up Elmer Fudd-style.

In yet other news, where are all the links for today? Huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh!

Rant... So world com is getting Compaq's CEO.... Sell your world com stock now... All Mike Crapells did for Compaq was lay everyone off and sell the company to HP and pocket a big fat bonus in his pocket. I wonder how much carpet he licked to get Carlie to buy Compaq??? You can bet he'll sell worldcom to the biggest bidder.
