Jeff's a buddy of mine. We went to school together, and even in high school, he was reviewing games for the local paper. He never gave anything but an honest review, and i can tell ya that even by editorial order, he wouldn't change a review to appease the advertisers.

I'm damn glad to see that the dick who fired him is on his way out.

Eh gamespot sucks anyway.

But who will sack the sacker sackers?

It's still not verified if the reason of the VP's firing is related to Jeff. I mean, I'm sure it didn't help, but these MBA-types usually look down their nose at the "unwashed masses" that are 'puter game reviewers. It was more likely part of the mentioned restructuring related to a bad economy.

He's now being played by Ralph the Wonder Llama.

I don't really like Jeff's opinions, but it sucks he was fired for not bowing to corporate bribery.

So, Eurogamer is still giving Mario Kart Wii an 8?

Good. Maybe some of those that left will come back? ..But I doubt it. Ah well.

Good news, everyone! Those asinine morons who canceled us were themselves fired for incompetence. And not just fired, but beaten up, too. And pretty badly. In fact, most of them died from their injuries. And then they were ground up into a fine pink powder."

They were laying 120 employees off. This jack off happened to be one of them. Now different suits are hanging this jack off out to dry for PR the way Jack Off left Jeff out to dry.

Nothing has changed. Business as usual.

Translation: This is our excuse so we don't continue to make ourselves look bad.

I'm so glad that douchebag got sacked. Jeff was a great reviewer and I was sad to see him go.

And now for a complete revisit, unencumbered by originality.

Um, I like Jeff, and I like giant bomb, but his reviews of late had become very tired and kinda mailed-in. They've gotten much better since he left.

I'm all about fairness and transparency when it comes to reviewing games, but let's face it...if the sales team isn't selling, there's no website for you to review games on.

Sales drives profits. Profits pay your salary. Thus the sales team should have its say in how your present your "product" (aka reviews) in order to best sell advertisements. The website hosting and salaries do not pay for themselves. I agree its sad...but its true.

There's a reason there's only one "Consumer Reports" out there, and they have a paying subscription model that barely gets them by. Gamespot does not work on that model from what I understand.

Again, sad but true.

So if I'm reading this right, he was canned by the advertisers basically. So, in other words, we can assume that ALL video game reviews are biased and full of shiat because the game's companies pay for advertising space.

No one sees a problem here? Ok, just checking.

/Doesn't pay attention to reviews anyway

I'd rather no game reviews if the "reviews" are biased.

I assume that all 'video game review' publications are little more than ticks suckling from the teats of 'big mama game company'.

They cannot, by definition of what they are, be 'unbiased'.

I love my Gameinformer subscription. Their 'previews' are usually nothing more than a drunken cocksuck. They often say everything but 'just looking at the preview material for this game cured little Timmy's cancer!!!' It's simply ridiculous.

I'm guessing that with the editor exodus from Gamespot, traffic has plummeted. Considering Gamespot was pretty much keeping C|Net afloat, heads better roll.

2008-04-05 03:56:24 PM
Finally maybe we can start to trust online game reviewers again now that the journalistic integrity has been restored to this online publication.

Subby didn't even read the comments, is not surprised the same joke came up there, though.

In this case, yeah.
