Ah, I see Mr. Hitchens has sobered up enough to make some sense.

As for the Bosnia thing, I can hardly express my continued fury at their carelessness. Other people have already alluded to the quotation from Great Gatsby, but again: "They were careless people, Tom and Daisy-they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made."

/worked in postwar Bosnia and Serbia, headed to Sarajevo again in a few weeks

Hitchens makes no attempt to hide his contempt for the Clintons. It's columns like this that makes him so enjoyable. Hillary is completely incapable of telling the truth.

If she had just held still for the snipers, then we wouldn't have the problems we have today.

Old article. Surprised it took this long to get here.

I might note that, as far as Hitchens is concerned, everyone is disqualified from the presidency. That being said, I'd love to see this history get more attention.

She is going to be in Oregon tomorrow, for a "town hall" meeting.

I'd never get to ask her a question, but it would be fun to throw a hardball at her.

Any suggestions for good questions?

Gosh what a Bosnian quagmire. Next time we should just do like Iraq and stop the genocide when it's 2 decades ago.

Bring up her husband's eleventh hour pardons.

Or ask her why she thinks it's okay for Washington insiders to overturn the will of the voters.

I'm pretty sure he isn't sober when he writes. I have a theory that since his articles don't appear til midday every Monday that he writes them while hammered, and waits til he's somewhat sober on Monday mornings to proofread/edit before submitting.

RTFA

Ask her why she as "co-president" (and when you say that, do the quotation mark thing with your fingers) talked Bill into policy reversal in Bosnia, leading to genocide, so that she could push her healthcare agenda.

In defense of Clinton (which makes me throw up in my mouth a little), memory and eyewitnesses can be very unreliable (new window).

I did read the article. I think we have a winner!!!!!!

Again though, I'd have the mic cut off before I even go to "reversal".

Ask her why she isn't doing enough to promote the cause of socialized medicine. "Universal Healthcare" just isn't enough.

Would be interesting to hear how she responds.

I just saw a commercial asking for questions that she would answer in newer commercials. So here's what I sent her (not word for word, I didn't copy and paste like I should have:

Over the past couple of months, your campaign has made several conflicting announcements, such as endorsing the letter sent to Nancy Pelosi, and the next day claiming no responsibility. This shows a level of disorganization, can we be sure it will not translate into the White House?

You owe $8 million to vendors, and $5 million to yourself. Can we trust you to manage a failing economy if you cannot even manage your campaign?

After the Bosnian Sniper thing, you said you "misspoke because you were tired." Are you sure you are ready to answer that 3 A.M. phone call if you would make such a blunder while being tired?

You say Obama's disenfranchising the voters of Florida and Michigan. Well, technically, the DNC is, but that's a story for another day. Anyway, Obama's won the primaries in 28 states, states that "don't matter" (states that typically vote Republican in the general election, states he was expected to win in the first place, et cetera). Anyway, He, or the DNC is disenfranchising 2 states. You say 28 states don't matter. Isn't this hypocritical?

Finally, my coup de grace: She compared herself to Rocky. Rocky was beaten by only black guys in the movies: Apollo Creed, Mr. T, Mason Dixon, hell he retired so he wouldn't have to fight a black guy in Rocky 5. Not really a question, but please, PLEASE point that out.

What I don't get -- it's one thing to "misspeak". I could easily say "I picked up that DVD last Thursday" and, when faced with the receipt, sheepishly admit that I had picked it up Tuesday. Point being -- I had picked up a DVD, I had simply made an error about when it happened.

So -- was there a time Hillary was dodging snipers? If so, she could easily make the correction and we'd all chalk it up to her aging and/or wealth of experiences (and even the biggest hater has to admit that she has experienceS, not necessarily experience). Since this hasn't happened yet -- where did this story come from? Did she have a dream and think it was real -- sign of mental issues. Did she see something on TV and later think it had happened to her -- sign of reality issues. Did her handlers push the idea past her and she thought she could sneak it past us -- sign of lying conniving shrew issues.

And as a reminder -- there are millions of people, when asked who they want to lead them, that are checking the box next to her name.

This is a recurring theme with her. She also said she was "opposed" to nafta. The more precise answer is that she was privately opposed to a nafta debate because she was worried it might hurt her healthcare plan.

She'd likely hold the entire Democratic agenda hostage until she got her way on healthcare. Or worse, give in to GOP on whatever they wanted in exchange for their votes on healthcare.

"using your logic, If Obama can't beat McCain and you can't beat Obama, then how are you planning to beat McCain?"

This, plus:

"How do you reconcile continuing your campaign on the reasoning that voters deserve to have their voices heard, when the only way you can win in the end is to have the super-delegates nullify the nomination of the person who won the most votes, delegates and states?"

"Since your campaign has pushed the idea that the popular vote is a more important indicator of electability than the pledged delegate count, was Senator Obama's strategy of investing heavily in caucus states a mistake?"

And my favorite.

"Your campaign has put out the idea that superdelegates should consider the Rev. Wright issue because of the way the GOP would use it in the general election. Should superdelegates also consider Bill Clinton's affairs, scandals, and disbarment since the GOP has used them to hamstring a sitting president and to win control of the congress in the past? Why not?"

Because no one has asked her that before, and it's none of your business.

Anyway, the question is misleading. The GOP didn't attack Obama over Wright, McCain and Huckabee actually supported Obama. The attacks came from Clinton herself, plus radio types like Limbaugh or FoxNews/Scaife. Limbaugh is trying to support her nomination, while the Clintons & Rendell recently said that Fox news is more balanced and objective.

My head hurts.

Good point. The only way that it's a misspeak is if she actually had been under sniper point at one time, and simply mixed up the two events. So far I haven't heard about the "real" event where it actually occurred.

2008-04-04 01:48:58 PM
you missed my point. Bill Clinton's wang is irrelevent. Just like Rev. Wright.
But Clinton has been skirting that issue by saying that the GOP will use Wright and therefore, the superdelegates must consider it.
Using that logic though, all of Bill's scandals should also be considered by the superdelegates.

Q: How often did President Clinton reveal classified information to you in foreign policy discussions?

A: As you probably know, Farker, I didn't have a security clearance and so my husband, President Clinton, never revealed classified information to me.

Q: So as First Lady you were out of the loop. How can you claim this was foreign policy experience?

[Of course it would be more fun if her answer was that "Sure, Billy -boy told me all kinds of stuff," but she's too smart for that one.]

THIS! A THOUSAND TIMES THIS!

I would give almost anything to have her asked this on live TV with respect to her continued campaign and her insistence on counting FL and MI. How can you say you speak for the people when they only way you can win is to override their wishes?

The US policy against genocide:

We will NEVER AGAIN allow genocide of Jews in Germany.
We will NEVER AGAIN allow genocide in Rwanda.
We will NEVER AGAIN allow genocide in Bosnia.
We will NEVER AGAIN allow genocide in Darfur (after this genocide is over of course).

But genocide of groups which have not suffered genocide before in that particular place is ok.

High-five!
