This is farking sad. It's happening in my own city. The downtown rally that happened the other day focused on banning or further restricting guns in the city. The truth is that, although guns are the most popular tool for these goddamn cowardly gangbangers, it doesn't address the root cause of what's causing the acts of violence in the first place.

I've often hoped someone would chloroform and drag these gang members off to a bunker, where they are stripped naked, shaved of all their body hair, their faces tattooed permanently with "GANGBANGER SCUM" or something like that, then driven back to their neighborhood (or a rival 'hood) and handcuffed still naked to a lamppost. In below-zero weather.

Well buddy, you just don't hear about groups of white or asian students getting rowdy like this do you? It would be unfair to group them in with this, and I would hate to hurt anyones feelings.

I was watching gangland the other day, and thought to myself, "Why doesn't someone or a group of people just start executing random gang members out on the streets." At first, they'll obviously retaliate back, but if you kill enough of them you might have a chance at scaring the others straight, or at least away from that sort of lifestyle. It's obvious that the law enforcement system is not as effective as most Samaritans would like it to be, and the problem is only going to get worse since gang memberships are still greatly increasing.

Actually the one big fight I saw at school was a big group of Asian kids. So yeah, it happens. They all circled this kid and started punching him up against the school bus.

To deny there is a cultural connection to the violence of the inner city is to deny reality. I have lived in majority black neighborhoods all my life and the shared traits of subcultures tend to follow income not skin color. I found that there are fewer intact (male lead) families in the inner city which leaves young boys without the guidance it takes to become a young man. Gangs take advantage of this situation by selling themselves as "the family they never had" to these kids who then dedicate their lives to the gang. The problem starts in the home a government check is not going to fix a broken culture.

Brother, I wish it wasn't true, but there can be no argument that inner-city blacks and hispanics have serious problems, if these problems could be improved, our country (I'm assuming you're an American) would be improved immeasurably. Unfortunately any criticism of a minority is shouted down and the speaker is dismissed as a racist, whether the speaker is a member of a minority or not.

I agree that it is a problem of culture (ghetto culture), however I disagree that it is an issue of race.

Well lets see. Ghetto culture was created by blacks and Hispanics and is almost exclusively found in black and Hispanic communities. And since this was a black gang versus a Latino gang, I'd say race most certainly is an issue.

Whites have their own issues, to be sure, but ghetto/gang/hip-hop culture is not generally one of them. We sit in trailers and beat our wives or snipe people from clock towers.

The reason I've included asians into my posts is to illustrate the fact that it's not the minority that is the problem, while a smaller "minority" than either blacks or hispanics, asians excel and face a fraction, if any, of the racism that other groups face. Did asians arrive in the US on equal footing with whites? Asians were discriminated against to a shameful degree, while not as drastic as blacks, certainly to a comparable degree as hispanics, and look at asians today, if anything they receive positive discrimination. All the problems you stated in your above post are prevelant problems in black and hispanic communities, who's fault is that.

There are lots of factors in this kind of violence, and race IS one of them. This story was about Black and Hispanic gangs, but it could have been Black/White, White/Asian, Asian/Hispanic,etc. I can't remember any stories about "mixed" gangs (although I'm sure someone will find one for us), so why try to deny that race is an integral part of the situation? Its not being racist, its being honest.

Maybe this will force blacks out of 2nd class, and they will start censoring black derogatory words for Latinos.
